Seferian-Jenkins has foot surgery

Austin Seferian-Jenkins had foot surgery Friday in North Carolina to repair a stress fracture, according to a source. He’s looking at an eight-week recovery period which will cause him to miss Washington’s Pro Day on April 2. Rob Rang of NFLdraftscout.com was the first to report the surgery.

Red Bryant, Sidney Rice officially released by Seahawks (update)

The Seattle Seahawks kicked off their offseason today by officially releasing defensive end Red Bryant and wide receiver Sidney Rice.

The moves, rumored for some time now, should save the defending Super Bowl champions about $12 million. That amount is not insignificant considering the team’s desire to re-sign defensive lineman Michael Bennett and wide receiver Golden Tate.

Bryant, who turns 30 in April, had been with the team since it drafted him in the fourth round of the 2008 NFL Draft. The 300-pounder was a key member of the league’s top defense last year and also one of the team’s

Cooper’s contract expected to influence the market for Tate

According to Adam Schefter, wide receiver Riley Cooper’s new deal with the Philadelphia Eagles is for 5 years and $25 million, with $10 million guaranteed.

Over the Cap makes the smart point that Cooper’s deal is essentially for two years at $9 million total to be a No. 2 receiver. They also argue that the basically $6 million per (five years, almost $31 million) that Brian Hartline received last year from the Dolphins may be the ceiling for No. 2 receivers.

It was the route Jeremy Lane took in kick coverage for a Robert Turbin return against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 11. This speaks to Lane’s speed and how a lot of work doesn’t show up in stats.
