One cut from Gore can kill

We talked during the week about defending Frank Gore, whom Pete Carroll said has some of the best vision and wiggle at the line of scrimmage of any back in the league.

As we saw in San Francisco, then again in the playoff game against Carolina, one cut from Gore can change the game. Let’s take a look at two plays, both 3rd-and-1, in which Gore went left then got loose by cutting back on the free safety. First, the Seahawks game at San Francisco, then the 49ers’ playoff game at Carolina:

From Gore’s 51-yard gain that pretty much decided the Seahawks vs. 49ers game:

From Carolina:

This was a little different than the play against the Seahawks, in that Gore ends up one-on-one with free safety Robert Lester and jukes him.

Staying in their lanes will be key today for the Seahawks.

  1. Yup. Slow though Gore now is, hes shifty and tough. Play sloppy like last week it will cost us. Stay disciplined, it will all work out.

  2. Notice all the 9ers holds going on?

  3. Besides a probable broken neck, what’s the penalty for a fan jumping outta the stands and tackling a break-away running Gore?

  4. Klm-u know the nfl wants the niners in the sb…we have reason to mistrust the refs and GODdell…

Overpursuit=the Devil. Stay home, trust your neighbor, this D will dominate. Proper tackling technique, wrap-up, and assignment-correct will win the day!

  5. banosser says:

Agreed.. it all on the Hawks front 7 to stuff Gore and contain/harass Krap into frustration/turnovers

  6. Ewalters7354 says:

    Michael Bowie is INACTIVE wtf!!

  7. Dukeshire says:

I’m surprised by that too. He played well last week. Odd

  8. Damn seriously?

  9. Ewalters7354 says:

Pabs, yep!Pete sure knows how to screw up a fans attitude before the game smh

  10. boycie99 says:

Wow. I sure didnt see that

  11. So much for the Legend of Michael Bowie. If Carpenter starts that must mean a run, run, run game plan.

  12. I think Brady throws a few TD passes in what’s left of this game to give the Broncos a scare.

  13. boycie99 says:

So let’s get ready for run for no gain, run for 2 yards, incomplete pass, punt.

  14. Ewalters7354 says:

But Carp playing also means constant whiffing on blocks and holding penalties. Not to mention the damn false starts. The dude is a BUST!!

  15. Ewalters7354 says:

    boycie,yep the usual

  16. Ok, Fuuuuudge Cable! That asshat is useless! This makes no sense at all. Period. No way thats based on fair competition, thats Cable giving FatAssCarp one more chance he doesnt deserve…

Im done. I want Cables fat, ugly, grilfriend-beating ass fired!

And here I was getting pumped up!

This is a joke. Theres no way this decision is fair or makes sense. What message does this give the team, with Bowie inactive and Sweezy still starting?!

    This is some Holmgren BS!!!

  17. Theres no way Carp can handle Smith; its a done deal. McQ cant block my Grandma, and shes DEAD!

  18. And God I hope my comments prove to be hyperbole, as Mo and Bbmate claim… Im praying they are right…please let them be right…

  19. boycie99 says:

STTBM. Spot on, this is a poor decision by Cable and a poor decision by Pete.
Let’s hope Bevell has a game plan and not the boring vanilla rubbish that doesn’t give Wilson or our O a chance but after the Bowie decision I very much doubt it
I hope the coaches don’t let the players down

  20. Screensmoke says:

As the blog turns- let’s wait until after the game to cry-

  21. DanielleMND says:

I see STTBM is switching things up and having a meltdown before the game this week. ;)

  22. My CD player (does that date me lol?!) was playing a lot if old M83, epic stuff, and I was pumped fir the game….after this, its playing Explosions In The Sky, really sad intense stuff…

Somebody restore my faith, its hanging by a thread…

Still gonna cheer and curse my ass off this game! C’mon Seahawks!!!!! Just win anyway, Baby!!!

  23. Danielle–if you paid attention, youd be melting down too… But whatever, it takes all kinds….Go HAWKS!!!!

  24. Screensmoke says:

Hang in there STTBM – trust me things could be worse

  25. Danielle–That wasnt a knock; perhaps youre not as over-analytical as sone of us. But as an emotional person, I can tell you the way they have handled the G positions this year will undermine the players faith in the coaches… What happened to fair competition?! Was this some stunt by Cable?!

  26. DanielleMND says:

We didn’t have Bowie in the lineup when we beat SF earlier. I don’t think he’s a critical player for a W or L today. We don’t know why he’s inactive, either.

  27. Danielle-Sf didnt have Crabtree then, and were a mess. Hes inactive because if Cables ego. Believe in Cable if you want, but even in HS football this kind of stunt divides a team; you just dont do it. Man, I hope FatAssCarp put his bigboy pants on today…

  28. Is it April first?!

  29. MoSeahawk12 says:

Coaches coach, players play and fans do fan stuff. They still have to play hard and win. No one here knows what goes on behind closed doors. This team got this far, let’s not throw in the towel just yet.

  30. The real problem today is that Kapaernick is much better than Wilson…he came to play, Russell just hasn’t so far.
