In case you missed it, the Titans have a new head coach and he’s not a local product.

  1. thursday says:

Happy about this since the rumor was Quinn was their top prospect

  2. Now Whisenhunt is in the same predicament he was in in AZ. He has a decent core to build from, a couple young stars, an aging star not living up to his contract….and no real qb. Last time he rented Warner and did well, but when Warner retired he spent picks and millions of dollars fielding a parade of qb’s that rivaled only the Post Dave Kreig and Pre-Hasselbeck era Seahawks for sheer suckitude…and it got him fired.

    Part Deux?!

Jake Locker’s days as starter may be numbered. Backup here?!

  3. GeorgiaHawk says:

I think we have a good chance now to retain Quinn for next season.

Good news for Locker too. Whisenhunt will make a fine coach for his development imo.

  4. Georgia–I hope so. Ive always liked Locker, though Im not really a Huskies fan. He’s everything Tebow was supposed to be, but isnt. He seems like a good kid, and Im rooting for him. But damn, he needs to improve his completion percentage!

  5. MikeFromNewJersey says:

Yeah im also on the Quinn bandwagon. Hoping he stays for selfish reasons of course.

  6. The Titans were playing really well last season before Locker got hurt. Then their season went to heck.

I think Whiz is a good coach and I think Locker will be a decent QB. That WR they drafted in the 1st round last year looks like he’s going to be good and they have stabilized their OL a bit. They get to play the Jags and Texans four times next year, too.

  7. I think most teams realize that Quinn needs a little more seasoning and it’ll be nice to keep him around for at least another year.

  8. I would love to keep Quinn around for awhile – but we won’t keep him around for long.

I think the NFL should just say no interviews or hires until the day after the super Bowl. In reality, I don’t understand why some teams are in such a huge hurry to hire people – they can’t sign any players so the rush

  9. banosser says:

Glad he didn’t go to Detroit… He’d of been a good fit there

  10. raymaines says:

I’ve been saying Locker needs to improve his completion percentage since his Sophomore year at the UW. At this point I have to say that ugly is as ugly does. He’s a 55% passer at best. Silk purse/Sows ear, etc, etc, etc, blah, blah, blah…….

He should have left school after his Jr. year and cashed in. He didn’t. He’s stupid and totally deserves what little money he got. Tennessee is also stupid and deserves what they got, a second tier QB with no real future and no real chance of drafting anybody better.

The Titans get the #11 pick this year and won’t be able get an elite QB and are essentially stuck with (doomed to) Jake Locker. If you believe stupidity deserves punishment, then we agree that the Titans deserve their fate. At least 5 more years of 8-8.

  11. PFF ranked TEN one spot higher than SEA in overall offense. They rank TENs offensive passing and rushing as way worse than SEA, but the TEN OL’s run-blkg as way better. Fitzpatrick played about the same as Locker, about middle of the pack. For the ’13 reg season, looking at people who played QB for at least 25% of their team’s offensive snaps, PFF ranked RW’s overall QB performance 4th (behind P.Manning, Brees and Rivers), SF’s CK 18th, AZ’s CP 19th, STL’s SB 20th. TEN’s R.Fitzpatrick ranked 21st and Jake Locker 22nd.

If you change the setting from 25% of the teams offensive snaps, to players who played any snaps at QB during the ’13 regular season, TJax gets inserted into the ranking just before Kaepernick, (and RW remains 4th).

Kim, I always get about halfway into your stats, then glaze over …
You must be an accountant or something. Way too much info for my old brain…

The other side y’all seem to be missing is that he not so much chose Tennessee, as he chose NOT to live in Detroit. It mean, you ever been to Detroit? It ain’t exactly a little, slice of,heaven now….
