Pete Carroll said Monday that the only injury issue Percy Harvin has is from the possible concussion during Saturday’s game.

Other than that, there were no new injuries from the game.

Harvin will go through the regular concussion protocol. Repeating what he said this morning, Carroll said he’ll have more of an idea Wednesday or Thursday about Harvin’s status.

“We’re going to respect the heck out of this one, take care of Percy and make sure we do the right thing,” Carroll said. “We’re not going stretch the limits on this at all. We’ve got to be very careful here, so we’ll do that every step of the way.”

To the quick hits:

> K.J. Wright ran again today. Carroll said he has “a chance to make it” this Sunday.

> Carroll said getting the players not to look ahead at this point is “the ultimate challenge I have to keep our focus on what’s going on right now, so we can have a really good Wednesday. This is championship time. The preparation leads all to this, then we’ll start all over again in a couple of weeks, if we’re fortunate enough.”

> Carroll on the 49ers’ linebackers: “The heart of the problem is those four guys.”

> Carroll said he thought the hits on Harvin were “legit” and called right.

> Carroll said he wishes he had challenged the fumble by Saints running back Khiry Robinson. He said it was a play that could be challenged and he thought he should have put it on the referees to take another look.

> Russell Wilson said he was purposely trying to aim low Saturday to deal with the elements.

> Wilson said he thinks there is “definitely room for improvement on my part.” But, also, that he always thinks that.

> More Wilson: “At the end of the day, not everything is going to be perfect.”

> And, Wilson on if being conservative (a reporter’s term) with the ball kind of fights the competitor in him: “The competitor in me always wants to make the smart decision.”

> Wilson on moving on to Super Bowl: “To do that, we have to play the best 60 minutes of our life.”

> Carroll mentioned that Jim Harbaugh tried to recruit his son, Nate, to play for the University of San Diego. “I wasn’t there for the home visit, though,” Carroll said.

Sounds like Percy will be back and KJ will be out again.

  2. Just watched Mr. Happy on NFLN and saw a clip of the lockerroom from the end of the game. Wilson had some of the guys huddled and they did some rah-rah chant and Percy was in the thick of it. He was with the guys and looked fine (in street clothes). He didn’t have any weird look in his eyes either (even though I only got a quick glance). He looked ready to rock. I was quite pleased to see that! I don’t see any way that he doesn’t play on Sunday. With that, I’m quite confident about our chances although I know there are no guarantees.

  3. It would be good to see Wright able to play, but unless the Whiners go all ground and pound, I’d rather have Smith in their. Smith is fast enough to keep Kap from turning the corner, theres no way Wright can unless he takes a perfect angle every time.

I hope Percy can play, just so Harbarf has to worry about him.

  4. GeorgiaHawk says:

Very good news with regards to injuries.

  5. Any mention of Percys’ shoulder? It appeared he had some sort of sling or wrap on his left side. When they showed the replay I thought it looked like it might of popped out.

  6. MNHawk-Carrol insists his only injury issue is the concussion. Not sure I buy that, but whatever…just play baby play…

  7. Todd Dybas says:

    Folks,

I asked Carroll specifically if Harvin’s only medical problem was the concussion. He unequivocally said yes.

I never saw Harvin in a sling, nor did any of my colleagues I spoke with today.

  8. MikeFromNewJersey says:

Guys Percy’s playing stop worrying. He’s tough im not worried at all.. I think even scores a TD.

  9. GeorgiaHawk says:

Todd, you getting ready for the ESPN career change after we win the Super Bowl?

I called it last year for Eric.

  10. So did about 20 others.

  11. I was able to go to my first Seahawks playoff game on Saturday. Here is a bit about my experience, and the impact of the 12thman! Go Hawks!

  12. Is it too early to print “Micheal Bowie for President” t-shirts?

The Curse of Steve Hutchinson dies with Bowie! He is to our LG position as the 2004 World Series was to fans of the Boston Red Sox.

    Long live Micheal Bowie!

    :)

  13. My bad on the shoulder info. I went back and looked at the locker room video. It looks like it was just Percys t-shirt slung over his shoulder. I guess I’m just a liitle paranoid about #11′s health….

  14. GeorgiaHawk says:

Were you one of those 20 BobbyK?
I thought you were pouting and left the blog over the fallout of you bashing Jackson over and over and over again for days, weeks, and months until you had no choice but to lay low for awhile.

Who were the other nineteen? Lol.

  15. I agree Bobbyk re Bowie. He is my favorite Seahawk right now. Maybe my favorite of all time! If he makes a Pro Bowl I think Ima die!!

Nothing makes me smile like having a LG prospect who played well his first game. Except maybe exorcising the Ghost of the Ice Fisherman..

  16. Georgia–Play nice. We ALL worried Eric would get poached. I know I was. And Lo, it happened….Todd will be next. He could already upgrade ESPN if they replaced that Blount dude with him…

  17. doubledink says:

Bobby that’s a first for you since the Futch fiasco. Looks like you finally let it go. lol.

seriously, those were some of the biggest holes Marshawn had all year. bout’ time!

  18. doubledink says:

after a few beers Georgia don’t play nice no more. it is what it is.

  19. GeorgiaHawk says:

STTBM- I understand you but unlike you, (even though you get too negative at times) some folks around here pull stuff out of their you know what just to start crap without having any logic or facts to back it up.
I would think that would get under your skin too at times.

  20. GeorgiaHawk says:

BTW- playing nice goes both ways. It’s not a one way street doubledink.

  21. Georgia–Yes, some folks do. Others just misremember (is that a word?!) stuff. I think Bobbyk was exaggerating a little to make a point. I remember a few folks talking about the likelihood of Eric getting poached. We joked about it, and of course, the rest is history…no big deal. I think Bobbyk was one of those who mentioned the possibility, but I cant really remember. Heck, maybe I never posted anything on here about it, perhaps I just agreed with the sentiment…(I do that a lot…if I agree with something I dont often feel the need to leave a comment saying so…I am usually only moved to respond when I disagree…).

  22. No. I don’t think I ever mentioned it on the blog (Eric being poached). I never really gave it much thought though. But others like Georgia said it plenty.

  23. Yeah. Let’s hear it for Michael “Hutch” Bowie!

  24. Stechael Hutchie or Micheve Bowinson? I don’t think he’ll be as good as Hutch (few ever have been) but I do think he’s going to be an asset, not a liability. No LG we have ever had since ’06 has played a game as well as Bowie did against AZ and, yes, I know he played RG for The Sweeze that game.

  25. UltimateHawk says:

Glad that PC agrees with me on the Challenge screwup. I pointed out a few times on this blog that it was (even posting the NFL rule link) and then told repeatedly by other “w

Glad that PC agrees with me on the Challenge screwup. I pointed out a few times on this blog that it was (even posting the NFL rule link) and then told repeatedly by other “wise men” that it wasn’t reviewable…

  27. Bobbyk Well there you go; I misremembered. Or something.

Ultimate Hawk. Yes, you posted the link that it was reviewable, and on multiple threads thereafter, the idiots kept insisting it wasnt reviewable. Nice job on that one.

Dybas also insisted the play wasnt reviewable. He was very short about it too. Fail.

  28. I didn’t think it was reviewable because others I respect in football said it wasn’t. Kind of like the idiots who said Carp, Sweeze, and McQuistan were better than Bowie because the coaches must know best even after we watched Bowie play better than any of those clowns. Glad the staff finally came to their senses. LOL

  29. Dukeshire says:

“I wasn’t there for the home visit.” Lol. That’s really funny.

Well, Wilson is spot on: in order to be playing on Feb 2, they’ll have to play the best 60 minutes of their life, on Sunday afternoon.

  30. Bowie and Bailey could be our two starting guards next year. Two diamonds in the rough from last year’s draft. Way to go Schneider and company.

  31. Stevos–Its great that Bowie is playing well and was a late round pick. But JS and PC and Cable cannot afford to blow high picks, like they did with Mofitt and Carpenter. Bowie does not make up for drafting Carp as a RT and having him fail at even G…

I dont see them continuing to find guys like Sherm in the fifth round. Even the Pats–who got really lucky with Brady–never duplicated that. Some people seem to expect us to find Pro Bowl or All Pro talent in the late rounds every year…that just doesnt happen. I dont see Spencer Ware or the DE we drafted and cut or really any of our late rounders last year making a roster, let alone a Pro Bowl.

What JS and PC did in a couple drafts–finding guys like Maxwell and Sherm and RW and Turbin and Bowie–is not something you can count on doing every year. Its just not sustainable.

Part of whats brought the Pats down to earth the last few years has been blowing high picks. They picked up so many by dumping aging stars they got sloppy, and have wasted a few picks. And its cost them.

Im hoping for a solid OL and a big WR or a stud DT the first two picks this year…of course, that means they will draft another DE and a DB lol!

  32. Screensmoke says:

Last time I checked New England was playing in the AFC championship – they seem to be doing just fine

  33. Great story Hawks3. I enjoyed that.. Keep it up.

  34. ChrisHolmes says:

New England hasn’t won a Superbowl in a long time. They’ve played a lot of home playoff games lately and lost.

Bobby’s point is valid. You can’t wiff on rounds 1 and 2 and expect to *SUSTAIN* success on the roster. That’s his point: sustained success.

Yes, JS has hit a few the first couple of years. But if we want to be SB contenders every year then they have to hit on those rounds.

  35. Dukeshire says:

Smoke – What on Earth are you talking about?

  36. sluggo42 says:

Lol Duke, exactly what I was thinking…. I was like whaaaa?

  37. PugetHawk says:

Hawk3 good write-up about your experience at the Clink Saturday. Thanks

  38. Nice work on the blog, Todd.
