Doug Baldwin on his former college coach Jim Harbaugh to Michigan: “Best of luck–and go Buckeyes”

Pete Carroll bumpin’ Notorious B.I.G. throughout the meeting room as the entire roster files in for a noon meeting.

Michael Bennett producing gems for quotes.

Doug Baldwin zinging Jim Harbaugh.

Just another playoff-bye-week day for the NFC’s top seed.

Today is the first of two practice days before the NFC West-champion Seahawks get Friday through Sunday off to watch which team it is they will host Jan. 10 in the divisional round.

But Bennett and Baldwin were in game-ready mode, quote wise.

Baldwin, the former Stanford wide receiver who played there for Harbaugh, went undrafted in 2011 before becoming a

The Seahawks’ versatile, increasingly valuable Will Tukuafu: “He lays the wood”

The snap counts from the win over the Rams on Sunday show how much more 285-pound fullback Will Tukuafu played — on defense, too. He’s proving to be a find since the Seahawks signed him off waivers from San Francisco midseason. Coach Pete Carroll praised his uniqueness yesterday.

“It’s such a rare accomplishment for anybody for it to happen. You can’t remember guys that can do stuff like this,” Carroll said. “He’s really good at it; he does a nice job. His effect has been obvious from the beginning. A 285 pound fullback? That’s pretty cool. And he lays the

Teams calling Seahawks for head-coaching interviews—just as Pete Carroll has planned for

The Seahawks were just getting back from a walk-through practice in Atlanta two years ago. A long, black limousine pulled up to meet the team’s bus in the hotel parking lot.

Then-defensive coordinator Gus Bradley walked off the bus and into the limo. Inside, executives of the Philadelphia Eagles were taking him for an interview to possibly become their next head coach.

This was the day before a Seahawks playoff game. With Bradley still needed in defensive meetings and final preparations.

That’s how serious coach Pete Carroll is about making sure his assistants

“We are in the finish mode right now.” Suring Seahawks following Pete Carroll’s mantra. Again.

When Pete Carroll had Steve Sarkisian as his offensive coordinator at USC about a half-dozen years ago Carroll’s one-word edict for their USC Trojans was “finish.”

When Carroll came to coach the Seahawks in 2010 and Sarkisian came to coach the University of Washington the year before both brought that mantra with them to Seattle.

The word “FINISH!” — with the exclamation points — was everywhere at the Seahawks’ headquarters in Renton and UW’s facilities on Montlake. On signs in the weight rooms and locker rooms. In meeting rooms. On the fronts of T-shirts the players wore. Even on the

Latest win, this season exemplify Pete Carroll’s second NFL life with Seahawks

Today’s win, this season’s rally from 3-3 and out of the supposed post-Super Bowl hangover, exemplify Pete Carroll’s second life as an NFL head coach.

Marshawn Lynch did it again today. He bulled into the end zone with the decisive touchdown.

But this time, the only things he grabbed were the NFC West title and home-field advantage for the Seahawks throughout the conference’s playoffs. Those begin next weekend with the once-3-3 Super Bowl champions enjoying a bye.

“Heck, yeah!” Carroll said Sunday night. “All you guys kept talking about how

NFC West championship tweets

The Seahawks clinched their second consecutive NFC West title Sunday with a 20-6 win over the rival St. Louis Rams.

It was the ninth division championship in franchise history, and it came with the No. 1 seed in the NFC and homefield advantage in the playoffs.

Surely the team is focused on repeating as Super Bowl champions, but they took a little time out to check in on social media Sunday night.

Here’s a recap:

Seahawks 20, Rams 6: Postgame reaction thread

It was an ugly start, but a beautiful finish. Perhaps a mirror of Seattle’s season.

The Seahawks were shut out in the first half for the first time since the Charlie Whitehurst era Sunday, but rallied to beat the Rams, 20-6, after the break to secure their second straight NFC West title and the NFC’s No. 1 seed.

Seattle dominated in yardage, moving the ball easily throughout the game, but too many mistakes early on offense let the Rams hang around.

The Seahawks woke up after halftime, however, and finished the season with their six consecutive win, earning the same coveted homefield
