Morning Links: Wilson bringing a new meaning to dual threat?

Good morning.

News that bordered on entertainment and interesting sprung yesterday when Russell Wilson was selected by the Texas Rangers in the Rule 5 Draft. Wilson was selected in the “Triple-A Phase” of the draft. The Rangers now own his rights.

Are we on the verge of a “Russell knows” campaign? Uh, no.

“I thought about it before, I’m not going to lie,” Wilson said. “But no. I mean I’m just focused on football.”

Richard Sherman is thankful for that for two reasons: Wilson will remain doing what he is doing, plus he may be able to move him onto his side at his celebrity softball game.

“He’s a freakin’ ringer,” Sherman said.

Dave Boling wrote more about it here.

Today, I wrote about how quickly teams can slip from the top in the NFL, as evidenced by this weekend’s Seahawks opponent the New York Giants.

“There is tremendous equity and anyone is capable of beating another team on any given weekend,” Giants coach Tom Coughlin said. “I really do and always have believed that. I do believe that the team that gets on the roll right at the end of the (season) — obviously a talented team — has the capability of winning out and winning the Super Bowl.”

Today, the Seahawks will have a brief practice then fly to New Jersey.

  1. mindnbrad says:

Macabrevity, see my question to you in Morning Links yesterday…

  2. yankinta says:

MVP is race is opening up again. Time for RW to shine in the last 3 weeks…. :)

p.s, Manning threw 3 interceptions last night,, except 2 were dropped by defensive backs…. hope voters were smart enough to take note of that.

  3. Be realistic about the MVP discussion – Wilson had a chance to shine in the 49ers game and he came up small.

The 49ers have an elite defense and only an offense piloted by the “great” Andrew Luck took it to that Defense in SF.

  4. yankinta says:

pabuwal,, you surely don’t know what you’re talking about. Go back and just look at the box score. Luck didn’t do anything. They just ran the ball over and over cuz 49ers were injured and broken from their previous game at Seattle…. smh…

  5. yankinta says:

And Wilson had 140 rating by half time. Only our Defense failed to hold another 4th qtr lead (go back and look at all RW’s Losses)…. He threw 1 int but that was a Hail Mary Situation,, so it’s not a True int…… again smh.

  6. Unfortunately Wilson didn’t do anything in that 49ers game as well. He had opportunities he missed. He looked a bit flustered in the 1st quarter. That’s not MVP caliber.

  7. montanamike2 says:

Let Manning have his MVP, the NFL has pretty much decided already. I’d rather Wilson was super bowl winner, i don’t care who has the biggest game that day, his legacy will be decided by rings.

  8. GeorgiaHawk says:

Looks like Scruggs and Simon are done for the season.

    https://twitter.com/bcondotta/status/411252562478649344

  9. yankinta says:

pabuwal,, dude you are seriously misinformed,, I’d try explaining it to you but you’ll just be ignorant so what’s the point?? so nvm,, you win. :) Wilson Sucked big time and he’s the Main Reason we lost at 49ers…. we should cut him and let him go play for Rangers ASAP,, smh..

  10. Mixed emotions about fantasy of Harbaugh going to Texas. On the one hand, I’m sick of his whiny, weaselly face on the sidelines. On the other, he is a character, an excellent nemesis, and while we don’t like it, maybe he makes us better.

  11. You are talking about MVP and not just being a good or great QB. An MVP needs to be perfect in big game situations against elite defenses.

A QB can make many mistakes and still be labeled great.

  12. yankinta says:

lol, ok, I’ll indulge you a little…. Please tell me who’s a Perfect QB in big game situations, this Season…

  13. GeorgiaHawk says:

Brady is the closest QB that I can think of this year to being perfect in big game situations.

  14. yankinta says:

GeorgiaHawk,, ummm except he has 3 losses to RW’s 2 losses. And in both RW’s 2 losses. He has done enough to have a Lead in the 4th qtr, except Defense couldn’t hold the Lead,, and puts RW in Hail Mary situation where he throws an int.

Not sure Brady had a Lead in 4qt, in all 3 of his losses….

  15. Do you realize Wilson has thrown an INT in every game the team has been down in the 4th quarter except the Carolina game? That game was the one game he had a signature game winning drive.

Luck has a signature game winning drive against two of the best Defenses in the NFL. I don’t even think he’s as good as the hype – I think he’s a Matt Ryan type. I have always thought Wilson will be better than Luck when it’s all said and done.

Point is when Andrew Luck has more signature drives than Wilson and Wilson has thrown an INT in all but one 4th quarter while trailing, how can he be in the MVP discussion??

  16. GeorgiaHawk says:

Brady has done the most with the least of all QBs this season. His Defense has five rookies playing on it, and he has few weapons to work with on offense.

Wilson will get the Super Bowl MVP but Brady deserves the regular season MVP imo even though Manning will get it.

  17. GeorgiaHawk says:

Rivers is having a pretty good year too.

  18. HawkFromDay1 says:

Think Texas would want to see that brand of football?

2 TE’s and extra tackle and a cloud of dust. Not exactly the high-scoring track meet Big 12 (or whatever it is now) football we’ve all come to know and love. They could definitely make it worth his while financially (maybe part ownership in the Longhorn Network?) but can’t imagine the fan base would enjoy that style…

Seems like Harbaugh will only go to teams I don’t like.

Is he up for the Yankees job too?

  19. yankinta says:

pabuwal,, I’m not sure what that proves…. Luck’s sig drives comes against Bad Defenses, RW Sig drives come against Top Defenses (i.e @Bears, Saints (top 4 D). The main difference between RW and any other QB including/especially Andrew Luck is that RW is the only QB in the NFL that has ZERO CLUNKER games in his Career, so far. Luck has had at least Five Clunker games in his young Career, already,,

GeorgiaHawk, I agree that Brady is more deserving than Manning,, but definitely not more deserving than RW. Brady O-Line is ranked top 10 and RW’s O-Line is 29th Ranked….. and you can also look at strength of Schedule too.

  20. MoSeahawk12 says:

Russell Wilson will not win the MVP, I thought this was already discussed to death. He doesn’t have the passing stats or the TDs. The 50 voters that decide this regular season award will be handing it to Manning or Brady and I agree with Georgia that Brady has done more with less than Manning. Brady has been throwing to rookies and other inexperienced receivers. Manning has four receivers with ten TDs each or more. No matter how many times you bring it up, it’s not going to happen. Wilson doesn’t care about it, neither should you. Be more like Wilson.

  21. When you consider MVP, you can’t bring up last year’s 4th quarter magic for Wilson. That 4th quarter magic hasn’t been there since game 1. He’s been anti-clutch with the team trailing.

That Rams game last year was a clunker. And I know you want to explain it away with McCoy falling and a ball being dropped into an INT, but all QBs get that.

  22. MoSeahawk12 says:

Lost in not blowing out the 9ers, let alone winning last week and not yet winning the division is that the Colts, lead by that Lucky Andrew won their division before us, after I was told over and over by someone super, super smart that the Colts wouldn’t even make the playoffs this season. I’m not sure what to believe anymore. I’ve watched and still haven’t learned I guess. Must be the teacher.

  23. princeaden says:

Oh My Goodness… Enough over the MVP stuff. Who cares? Clinch HFA,hoist the Lombardi and that is who laughs last.

  24. yankinta says:

I agree. That Rams game was the worst game of his career, closest to clunker game. He was 17 for 25, 68% completion with 160 total yards. He had 3 ints but 2 were not his fault, but caused by bad receiver plays….. If that’s the best you got, you got nothing,, :) btw, How do you explain Luck’s 3 Clunker games this season, other than the fact that He Sucked,,??

lol anti-clutch… wow, seriously misinformed or ignorant…. either way, you’re wrong.

MoSeahawk12,, let’s wait and see. I am not saying he will,, but I’m saying he definitely has a chance. Just be sure to come back and eat crow if it does happen.

  25. MoSeahawk12 says:

The line to eat crow forms behind you. So, I’m not really worried at all. We all know that doesn’t happen.

  26. yankinta says:

MoSeahawk12,, yup yup, I was saying Colts will not make the Playoff this Season 3-4 Months ago, and I was WRONG. I should have known that AFC South would become the laughing Stock of the NFL…. Yay for Colts and Luck,, being the best team in the Worst Division in NFL… :)

But I was Right about Falcons not making the Playoff, right about Panthers making the playoff, right about Reggie Wayne being the best player on the Colts team, right about RW being the top 3 QB in the League, right about CK & RG3 being average or below average, right about Luck being Average….. so let’s review, shall we?? YankinTa is right 95% of the time… :)

  27. Russell Wilson’s 4th quarter rating with the team within 7 points is a massive 66.9. He has 2 TDs and 4 INTs.

    That’s anti-clutch.

  28. yankinta says:

huh?? Russell Wilson’s 4th quarter rating with the team within 7 points is a massive 66.9. He has 2 TDs and 4 INTs,, where do you find this stat? Compared to whom?? What’s the sample size (how many games)??

  29. Seahawkfan78 says:

anti-clutch??? doesnt he have 9 games where the seahawks have come from behind and won?

  30. Why is there such an obsession to celebrate individual awards as opposed to team awards? Especially when the individual himself could care less about the award.

IF Peyton throws for 50+ TD’s, he will win the award. Period. End of discussion.

  31. http://www.nfl.com/player/russellwilson/2532975/situationalstats

Scroll down near the bottom to “4th Quarter within 7″

  32. yankinta says:

Ok, it doesn’t say anything about sample size…. let’s compare that to your Fav QBs.,, Luck, Manning, Brady…

  33. Dukeshire says:

Just watching pabuwal own this argument is so satisfying to read.

  34. yankinta says:

lol @Dukeshire,, umm sure, if you say so… he’s just pulled out a stat without context,,, that’s what we call being ignorant or having very little Football knowledge,, something that you can relate,,

  35. MoSeahawk12 says:

I’m guessing cause the one has never played any team sport and only knows how to let everyone know how great he or she thinks they are every day. Russell Wilson wouldn’t be a part of any of this look at me noise and is the constant team leader. Team wins, team awards.

  36. The sample size is clearly the entire 2013 season.

And you should know which games this is referring to off the top of your head:

    1. Carolina
    2. Houston
    3. Indy
    4. Tampa Bay
    5. SF

He’s thrown an INT in the 4th quarter in the last 4 of those games. And I do fault him for making a stupid throw at SF. Even if Kearse catches it, the game is over.

He’s been anti-clutch this year. I was one of the first to extoll his virtues with detailed analysis on this board back in Spring of 2012. But I have to call it as I see it.

  37. yankinta says:

MoSeahawk12,, dude you have no idea I’ve never played team sport or not. The likely hood I have. Especially when you look at who has eyes for talent, eyes for overrated players, eyes for understanding football concepts, so on and so on…. you’re just assuming, which explains most of your posts,, ‘meaningless’…

pabuwal,, that’s what you think the sample size is. The site doesn’t say it. in other words you’re assuming. but let’s indulge you again. That sample size is less than 50%, which means small sample size. But let’s see, Who’s the MVP of those games at Carolina, Houston, Tampa Bay…. if you say anyone else other than RW, then you’re being ignorant…want me to explain why??

  38. MoSeahawk12 says:

Speaking of pulling stats out of context. Every stat you present is based on your highly, self regarded opinion. I’ve said before, Russell Wilson wouldn’t want anything to do with your incredibly self absorbed view of yourself. He wouldn’t condone your constant need to be right all the time, bragging and boasting non stop of anything that you think you know, by belittling and insulting everyone that has a different view or opinion than yours. For someone that loves Wilson as much as you, you should try to emulate him more. Be like Russell, not like you.

  39. seahawksteven777 says:

Yankinta is one of those people that always has to be right and can never be wrong. When someone says he is wrong, they are clueless or ignorant. Hmm, that seems ignorant in of itself. Not to mention also being a hypocrite…

  40. yankinta says:

seahawksteven777,, dude, I don’t have to be. In fact there are times I wish I was wrong about things… But the fact is I’m right 95% of the time,, read my post at 8:38AM. :)

  41. So you think NFL.com is showing partial stats to make Wilson look bad?

Wilson may have been MVP of those games you mentioned but we both know Andrew Luck was the MVP of the Colts game.

  42. yankinta says:

MoSeahawk12,, nah, I never throw the first punch. That’s a No.1 rule that I live by…. if you think, that’s not true, I would love you to prove it… :)

  43. Antideluvian says:

Sidestepping the MVP pissing match, I’d both love and hate to see Harbaugh leave for Texas. Love to see it because he’s such a (insert favorite pejorative here). Hate to see it because it’s so much fun to watch his faces and gyrations when the 49ers are losing to the Hawks at the CLink.

  44. yankinta says:

pabuwal,,, wow, I’m speechless. I thought most people are healing from having been brainwashed about Luck but you’re definitely not one of them. so nvm. You win. Andrew Luck is MUCH better than RW. smh….

  45. rramstad says:

Oh, great. Another day where yank makes every other post on this thread. Ugh. Dude, get your OWN WEBSITE if you want to monopolize the conversation. Please!

  46. Ewalters7354 says:

RW is good, but let’s not forget he had a chance to close out the game after Tate’s big return and he didn’t.You can’t blame the defense for giving up the lead.Had the Hawks scored 6 instead of 3,they win.

  47. yankinta says:

Antideluvian,,, Noo….I disagree. like it or not Seahawks need 49ers as much as 49ers need Seahawks. This rivalry is the BEST in all other rivalries in Pro Sports, imo. It makes the NFC West relevant/best in NFL. I’d love Jim to stay there and I’d love CK to become a better QB…. so that NFC West will dominate the Superbowl the next several years…

  48. I actually think Wilson is better than Luck but it’s always fun to yank the Yank.

  49. yankinta says:

rramstad,, if I did, you’d miss me too much… lol :)

Ewalters7354,, I agree. But he did give us a lead with 3 points though after getting into FG range…. and who knows, even if we got 7 points, 49ers would have tried to score a TD (they were very close to goal line and plenty of time/TO) instead of wasting time and kicking a FG.

  50. yankinta says:

pabuwal,, lol, are you saying all your posts from this morning are Krap?? ok, then we finally agree.. :)

  51. My posts are only arguing the MVP point. I obviously think Wilson is a great QB.

I only cite Luck because if Wilson can’t exceed an “obvious bottom feeder” in some meaningful metrics like end of game “clutchness”, then how can you consider him an MVP candidate?

  52. Ewalters7354 says:

While Andrew Luck may be the MVP on the Colts,RW is MVP on the Hawks. How many QB can run for their life and still produce?RW did that early in the season while Luck has struggled miserably since the loss of Reggie Wayne. Not talking defense,I’m talking QB.The Colts offense has been poor the last few games now.

  53. Southendzone says:

Easy with your stats talk Yank. Calling a small sample size 50% doesn’t make any sense. A sample size is a number not a proportion. In the case above, the sample size appears to be 40 pass attempts.

To answer your question “Who’s the MVP of CAR/HOU/T.BAY game”, well clearly its:

CAR: Whoever caused that fumble in the 4th quarter
    HOU: Richard Sherman
TBAY: Ok give you this one, probably RW.

  54. MoSeahawk12 says:

The weekend is almost here and this blog improves a ton on weekends.

  55. You guys need to trade emails so you can just waste your own time with all this nonsense. Or better yet, GET A ROOM!!!!

  56. yankinta says:

again, you’re clearly wrong because, Luck’s clutchness comes from bottom feeder teams like Jags and titans and texans…. which doesn’t mean much…. Wilson faces top 10 D and come thru for us time after time…

  57. MoSeahawk12 says:

Some teenager girls have boy band posters on their bedroom walls, not yank. I heart Wilson posters covering the place. Oh well, at least you picked a awesome QB and a better person to worship.

  58. yankinta says:

lol, don’t assume that I think like you or I act like you. smh…

  59. MoSeahawk12 says:

Deion, don’t you have somebody to not tackle? Silly 9ers, you won’t get off that easy.

    http://espn.go.com/blog/seattle-seahawks/post/_/id/2734/deion-and-49ers-exec-tell-wilson-to-go-for-it

  60. yankinta says:

Southendzone,, lol again, you don’t know much. Sample size is considered small, if it is less than 50% of total numbers. It’s too small to make a conclusion. look it up.

    Corrections to your misinformed post,

CAR: Our Run game got shut down, RW was under pressure all game, yet he threw for over 300 yards gave us the lead in the 4th qtr, against No.1 Ranked Defense (look it up),, On the ROAD…

HOU: Again, Our Run game got shut down againt Top 5 D (at the time), on the Road. Our Defense gave up huge lead to Texans,, was getting killed by their TE and Matt Schaub. We couldn’t stop the run. Finally in 3rd QTR, Lynch asked RW to take over since he couldn’t do anything. RW took over, brought us back close enough. Was about to get the ball back but Matt Schaub threw int on their 3rd down play. It was Cleary RW that was the diff.

TBAY: We agree, it was RW. :)

  61. Any chance this weekend’s game is a shoot out between QBs? I saw that up until last week, the Giants had shutdown a lot of great RBs (no one over 100 yds except for Ryan Matthews).

What’s the latest weather? Does anyone think that Cruz, Nicks, Randle and Myers are a formidable group? Who in our secondary matches up on who?

I still think Lane is better than Maxwell but am not sure how they match up. I imagine Sherm will be on Nicks. Thoughts?

  62. aelliott11 says:

YankinTa is right 95% of the time…

Especially when he defines what’s “right”. Calling Luck average, and then saying you’re right about that, does not make it so.

    lol, smh. :)

Start your own blog, then focus full time on that please.

  63. And where is GeorgiaHawk in this less than inspired MVP debate?

  64. aelliott11 says:

    lol…smh
    :)

  65. GeorgiaHawk says:

The regular season MVP award has very little to do with clutch and almost everything to do with yards and TDs. Just look at the past MVPs and you will see.
Or ask Chuck because he’s been saying this for awhile now.

What I don’t understand is why would anyone want Wilson to win it if the last 13 MVP winners didn’t win the Super Bowl the season they won MVP?
After finding that out I was happy for Peyton Manning.

  66. Dukeshire says:

Lol. Not only is his logic far more sound that yours. So too is his argument. Also, I don’t think “context” means whatever you think it does. Because the stat he posted was clearly in a context: down by 7 or less in the 4th quarter. *That* is all context.

  67. montanamike2 says:

GeorgiaHawk, i want the MVP to Manning or Brady too.

  68. montanamike2 says:
  69. yankinta says:

aelliott11,,, Facts say Luck is Average…. He’s currently 23th ranked QB. Let’s see your Fact that say otherwise,, :)

    http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/player/_/stat/passing/sort/quarterbackRating

    Don’t be mad, Bro. :)

Dukeshire,, umm context means, comparing RW to other QB in those areas,, who says those numbers are bad for a QB?? Maybe he’s has the best numbers in that situation. again, you’re ignorant,, smh..

  70. Jesus, we will never get away from the MVP banter and Luck talk in this blog, will we? I guess i will come back after Todd’s next post to see if that changes (wishful thinking)

  71. MoSeahawk12 says:

yank has to get it all in today as he/she doesn’t have internet access on weekends. Lucky for the rest of us.

  72. yankinta says:

MoSeahawk12,, your assumptions can be very funny!!! although, it’s just sad most of the time but the last one definitely made me laugh! thanks, :)

  73. STFU about the MVP BS already

Seahawks playing the Giants in 2 days and it’s a pretty big game to win, lots of people dinged up and weather may be a factor.
It’s Blue Friday the 13th 1-0 for this weeks Championship Game
    Go Hawks!!!

  74. I agree with Pabs, Luck can get extremely lucky, or is it lack of luck when your best WR gets concussed (or whateva)…

  75. seahawksteven777 says:

Yankinta: So the Texans aren’t a good defense right now? RIGHT NOW, they are the 2nd overall defense and 2nd in passing yards allowed, behind us. The only difference is they give up a little more rushing yards than we do.

  76. yankinta says:

klm008,, sounds like we’re in agreement. Luck is below average QB without his best WR,, where RW just keeps getting better even without his Best 2 WR…. :)

  77. SandpointHawk says:

Yank, go back to NFL com and do your own research, now that you know about that stat, you can spend all day making spreadsheets and maybe the blog will become a bit more relevant while you’re away…

  78. TallyHawk says:

All of Lucks 4th quarter comebacks are against bad D’s so that means the Seahawks have a bad D, correct?

  79. yankinta says:

seahawksteven777,, maybe they are,, maybe they are not. It’s not relevant to my point about our game at Houston. :)

  80. montanamike2 says:

This is off season fodder, right now we’re in our dream season let’s enjoy it.

  81. seahawksteven777 says:

Also, Luck has no running game, a bad offensive line, is working with pretty much no name receivers aside from Hilton, has the 23rd ranked defense, and still has pretty good numbers (19 touchdowns, 8 picks).

Yeah, you’re going to bring up how he hasn’t played a good defense but the fact with what Luck has to work with cancels out that argument of yours.

  82. Maybe oughta wonder what Bevell is gonna do to game plan against a really good NJGs run D?

  83. yankinta says:

seahawksteven777,, lol you can join the excuse club for Andrew Luck. Someone started it a year ago….. :)

  84. AKhawkFan says:

I am currently in a high school library. There is a zit faced freshman hunched over a laptop typing frantically, and shaking his head a lot. I’m going to check and see if its Yank. I will update later.

  85. This blog used to be so much better when it wasn’t getting yanked all the time.

  86. seahawkNJ says:

Joreb – I don’t think it will be a shootout by any meant. I see the Giants keeping it close until halftime and then it turns into a blowout. It’s really cold today and expecting 4-6″ of snow tomorrow. Weather for Sunday should be pretty nice, close to 40 at around kickoff.

My wife is a big Giants fan and I live near the stadium so I see more of the giants than i care to…lol. Cruz is legit and I’d expect him to have a few catches Sunday. Nicks is talented and makes some insane catches, but appears to run lazy routes when not expecting the ball and drop some easy ones. The rest of the receivers/offense seem pretty pedestrian.

One thing I noticed is that their route concepts seem shaky. Eli obvious gets the blame for the interceptions, but more often than not it seems like his receivers run bad/wrong routes or the ball bounces off of them to a defender.

I agree with you on Lane, I think he’s better than Maxwell. I can’t imagine the Hawks getting too creative on D Sunday since (for the most part) you know what you’re getting from the Giants. Base D with solid discipline should be enough to shrink the Giants. My 2 cents.

  87. It’s too bad that energy couldn’t be spent on opposing teams blogs instead of the folks that are cheering for the same team.

  88. SeahawkNJ…what do you think of Randle and Myers?

  89. WiscCory says:

“Michael Bennett’s brother, Martellus, is trying to lure him to the Chicago Bears.

Isn’t the easier sell the other way around?

  90. seahawkNJ says:

Haven’t noticed much of either of them to be honest. Saw Myers make one or 2 nice catches down the seam, but they have mostly been no-shows. Randle can be streaky. Against solid passing Ds (like Sunday) is when he seems to show up.

  91. Would really like to see Martellus in SEA colors.

  92. seahawkNJ says:

A little bit off topic, but I think Coughlin may have lost the team. Next year is the last year of his contract, and most coaches would usually have received an extension by now. Given Coughlin’s age I wouldn’t be shocked if this was his last year. I think some players may know this, or have the same feeling. I haven’t read anything, just a suspicion.

*Disclaimer – I am wrong 90-95% of the time.

  93. montanamike2 says:

I’m wrong 83.5% of the time.

  94. yankinta says:

AKhawkFan,,, loved it!!! you just made me spit out water through my nose!! Thanks!! :)

  95. MoSeahawk12 says:

BREAKING NEWS!! I just came across this and don’t know how to react.
    http://www.Seahawksmakecriticalmanagementswitch.com

Paul Allen has just let John Schneider go and brought in an expert named maximus yankinta. He tried to get the other John Schneider from Dukes of Hazzard, but realized he didn’t know anything about football. He now must turn his entire Seahawks operation over to the one that calls himself “the smartest, most knowledgeable person ever!”

Being 94% right on draft choices and free agency wasn’t enough to save Schneider’s job with the Seahawks. Allen now turns to super expert yankinta with his 95% accuracy in being correct most of the time according to him. With the season and playoff on the line, Seahawks nation is collectively holding it’s breath and hoping to die. At least until game day, when we get to watch and learn. Ignorance is indeed bliss.

No we return you to a funtastic Friday, blue Friday with a real opportunity to go 12-2!

  96. Last time it was April 1st you didn’t quite get it outta yer system, didja MoSeahawk12?

  97. rramstad says:

So excruciating. It sucks. I like reading the comments, most days, easily half of them are interesting, thought provoking, and fun. Some days, like today, it’s just alphabet soup, name calling, incoherent points of view that are unsupported, and discussions about players on other teams. Add in the posts from the Yankster, and it’s a real mess.

  98. yankinta says:

rramstad,, wow life must be really tough on you. Sorry dude. But you should cheer up. We’re on our way to our first ever 14-2 season and have top 3 QB playing for us. Just enjoy the ride,, :)

  99. Dukeshire says:

pabuwal dictated the context. You are now trying to change it. Again, it’s clear you fail to understand exactly how context works.

  100. montanamike2 says:

Why is Sunday taking so long to get here!

  101. Will we see more quick outs to ML, Turbin? Will we see both MikeRob and Coleman in some 2 FB + HB runs? If SEA was strong enough and willing to compete head on against their strength, I’d like to see SEA get their run game back this Sunday…

  102. WiscCory says:

klm – I’d like to see the LOB get back on the interception train. How about 3 or 4 picks this week!?!

  103. Whatever happens, i hope it’s a good game. If NJGs get down early they might get blown out, they haven’t been recovering well this season…

  104. GeorgiaHawk says:

We just need to light them up like the Chargers did and we will be all right.

Wow, I get caught up in urgent business at work and I come back to find out it’s Groundhog Day and the blog has reverted to that same sequence where a certain poster hijacks the blog and spends the day telling everyone how ignorant they are and how smart and always right he is.

I know this isn’t important in the big picture of where the wedding between Wilson and yankster will be held, who asked whom, and if we will be invited, but isn’t there some kind of an important thing happening at 1pm Eastern time zone on Sunday that has something to do with this blog?

Oh, isn’t there also something about still needing two wins before we can finally have SF permanently in the rear view mirror for 2013?

Silly me. Well I’m off to Court so I’ll return the blog to Groundhog Day proceedings.

While I’m away maybe yankster will break into song and sing “I will follow him’ by Little Peggy and dedicate it to his forever crush.

  106. TGIF – which means tomorrow is Saturday and I can actuallly read and discuss Sea vs NYG.

Thank you Todd for some good links today

Update on my post at 10:45:

It turns out the young man I saw in the high school library wasn’t Yank. The youngster was a real delight and was shaking his head while reading world politics, not at nothing. I enjoyed my brief conversation with him until I found out he was a 49ers fan, then I pee’d on his ankle and left.

The trail went cold but I know Yankitna is somewhere in this high school, and I will find him and I will destroy him for the good of the blog.

    GO HAWKS!!!

  108. yankinta says:

AKhawkFan,, lol nice. You’re a funny guy. God bless you. :)

anyway, I’m outtie… Have fun and hope everyone enjoy the Hawks game this Sunday. :)

  109. Ewalters7354 says:

Personally,I think this is gonna be a blowout. The Giants have been playing terrible all season long.Eli is nowhere near elite, bad oline, bad coach, etc.Did I mention that they play with no discipline or heart? It’s gonna be a long game for the G-Men.They cannot handle RW or ML.34-13 hawks

And if the Hawks lose to this team,I’ll seriously be concerned.Sorry Georgia but these guys suck!

  110. Reading this morning’s comments I counted people being called ‘ignorant’
5 times by 10am.. Does that qualify as abusive to others??

Todd, I see you’ve been posting the morning topics around 2am lately.
What type of hours do you keep??

  111. Ewalters7354 says:

It’s obvious yank isn’t going anywhere. So why constantly get worked up?He just an OPTIMIST who clearly likes having fun and driving some guys nuts.Kinda funny to be honest. So I just read his comments and if they make sense, agree. If not, state my case and keep scrolling.

    Just my 2cents

    Mindnbrad…

Based in Europa, so game times are not always great considering how early I have to get up Monday mornings… I get NFLgamepass, a really nice service for fans outside of the US. All games, all season, NFL Live, RedZone, draft coverage, pretty much everything on demand, any time you want. By waiting 24 hours (or so) you get games commercial free – which…is…just….awesome!

As far as Yankinta trashing goes, it’s the darkest part of the dark side of this forum. We have a lot of football knowledge here, but a few people seem to single out others for some serious bashing. Shame to put a stain on what’s easily the best football forum I’ve ever come across.

I think Yank brings some passion and flavor to the forum, and even if people might think his opinions are off-base, he’s one of us right?

  115. montanamike2 says:

I love the label “froll” that someone came up with a few months ago, it’s totally fitting. Most everything he says i don’t respond to, even though he’s never argued with me personally. What sucks is that he does have some insights and knowledge but he discredits that by his antics.
    Is he ACIB?

    *** thread ignored****

If anyone posted anything of merit, my apologies for missing it. I won’t waste my time reading this thread of stupidity

  117. ChrisHolmes says:

This thread is a perfect microcosm of why the NFL has a salary cap: Because people can’t stop themselves.

Unfortunately, there’s no option to block posters here, and there’s no real moderation, because the kid has broken the rules several times, and still manages to stay and needle you guys.

Just ignore him. It’s the only way. Show you have what it takes to ignore a troll.

  118. abqhwkfn says:

    Sluggo,
Agreed, i should have known better then to start scrolling when I seen 120 comments..

  119. Moderate? What’s that?

    I miss Eric.

  120. GeorgiaHawk says:

That’s one of the things that made Eric great is that he didn’t moderate much.
I think Eric is very happy where he is at. Just look at that big smile on his ESPN blog.

  121. San Diego rules. No, he didn’t moderate much but did when it was necessary. I just fear that a lot of regulars will get tired of Yank’s antics and go elsewhere. Anyone can ignore him but that doesn’t make him any less annoying to have to scroll through.

  122. GeorgiaHawk says:

Ewalters- says it best about the Yangster.

What really cracks me up though is reading how some here seem totally rattled by his existence.
To the point where they can’t add anything of substance to a thread if they see his name on a post.

Now that’s letting someone totally get in their heads. Lol.

And at least he gives us a break on the weekends.

  123. AKhawkFan says:

I think we should all simply ignore he who’s ne shall not be spoken. Our behavior on the blog today is exactly what he wanted.

  124. EzraMelech says:

You guys are all funny and entertaining! Why the debate about what Quarterback is best? Much of “that debate” is subjective. Also, I will argue with anyone that although Quarterback is integral and an important piece. Football is a true “TEAM” sport. I don’t care if you are Tom Brady or Peyton Manning you DO NOT win without players around you.

Give either of those Quarterbacks a crappy OLine as well as nobody on the receiving core and tell me how well they will do. (Better then some other Quarterbacks obviously again I’m not arguing it’s important position) But I regress and you get my point.

We have Russell and I’m DAMN glad we do. He’s a very good fit for our team and our play style. Let’s just go win the Superbowl and quit with all this MVP and Hall of Fame BS. On that note, saw a web page comparing instagram photo’s of Wilson and Kapernick today. Made me THAT MUCH MORE appreciative of who we have.
    Wilson Kapernick Instagram Comparison

  125. If I had a time machine and could bring in any 22 year old for my expansion team that starts next year, you can very well bet that I am going to pick guys like Dan Marino and Dan Foutes over guys like Mark Rypien and Jim McMahon.
