Harvin likely to play, plus the injury report

Seahawks wide receiver Percy Harvin is listed as probable for Sunday and sounded very optimistic Friday about his prospects of playing against his old team.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said the full decision on Harvin won’t be made until game day.

Also sounds like ominous news is in the offing for cornerback Brandon Browner (groin). Carroll said Browner has been diagnosed, without elaborating, and they will wait until “the last possible second” to make a move with him.

Russell Okung, Breno Giacomini, Red Bryant and Max Unger are all expected to play Sunday, as you can see in the injury reports below. The Seahawks will have to cut someone to make space for Okung on the 53-man roster.

Harvin said he has no soreness after three consecutive days of practice. That’s a change from three weeks ago when he first returned to practice. Harvin made it through about half a practice before feeling some soreness. He had an MRI and ended up getting some fluid removed. The important thing was the MRI did not show any structural damage.

“I wasn’t real concerned,” Harvin said. “Had a little fluid built up that just caused some stiffness running. I didn’t really have a lot of concern. The bone structure where he did the surgery at was perfectly fine.”

As far as if he’s ready to play:

“I definitely think I am ready to play,” Harvin said. “I still have a lot of work to do, but I think Ii am ready to start getting in there.”

Sounds like Browner is going on the IR when Okung is added to the roster.

  2. I’m going to start whippin up the marinade for the roasted crow right now!

  3. roddychops says:

Is there any more detail on Okung (since he’s not been a part of the injury report)?

Glad to hear he’s a go, just wondering how he’s been doing in terms of conditioning and game-readiness. Think he’ll make it through a full game, or will they continue to platoon at LT?

Yup, sounds like the decision will be to IR Browner when they have to put Okung back on the active roster. Has to be done by tomorrow.

bbmate, I’ll be more than happy to eat some roasted crow if and when we see Harvin on the field. I don’t even care what he contributes. I just want to see this guy that is supposed to be so great actually do something other than talk about how ready he is.

Still, when Pete says the ‘decision on whether or not so and so is going to play will be made on gameday’ more than 90% of the time the decision is not to play them.

I hope Harvin can convince Pete to let him be active for this week. It’s about time he started earning that big paycheck.

Pete already said they will do a OL rotation this week due to the lack of game shape Brokung is in. I would expect less rotation after the bye.

Couldn’t agree more Chuck. Seems like some game action and a few hits to knock the proverbial rust off would be nice before the upcoming two game gauntlet following the bye.

  7. edstang45 says:

Browner to IR really we have 6 more games til playoffs… dang hope it’s not the IR as we need him back for SB…would be a tough deal if he’s sidelined for our championship

  8. Hope PH actually plays. MIN’s D (if anyone) will know how to defend against Bevell and PH…
