Good morning.

We’ll start today with our preview of the game here in Atlanta.

Here’s what Kam Chancellor said he was thinking as he walked off the field:

“Just mad. Mad .. as a secondary I know we were mad because we weren’t in man coverage. We wanted to play man coverage on the last few calls.

“Felt like we didn’t go down with a fight at the end because we sat back a lot. That was probably the only thing that was going through my head.”

The Panthers have been impressive. Cam Newton has revved it up at quarterback helping them to four consecutive wins. San Francisco has won five consecutive, averaging 34.8 points per game during that winning streak.

  1. I was hoping the Jaguars could break the 1992 Tom Flores Seahawks record this year but it doesn’t look like it will happen.

  2. Southendzone says:

I remember the Flores Era as being a pretty crappy time for the Hawks, don’t think I’ll watch that one as it would be bad Karma.

Sort of like if they asked a current Mariner player to raise the 12th man flag.

  3. montanamike2 says:

Guys, because it’s a morning game i have to get running, but i’ll talk to you later. GO HAWKS!!!

  4. seahawkfan97 says:

I saw that piece on Cam Newton how he is growing up and thought a bit differently about him but that superman thing he does just drives me crazy…Humility young man at least until you actually do something in the NFL…..Ok still cant really stand him…Might be a resentment from the BCS championship game

  5. yakimahawk says:

Dont know what is worse, JS/PC releasing Walters before the game or DB Fresh (Doug Baldwin) tweeting about it. Insubordination comes in a lot of forms and this is one. Baldwin needs to keep his mouth shut and play football if it wasnt for PC he would not have even had the opputunity to play. One of my employees tweets something about the office they are displeased with for PUBLIC viewing they would be terminated immediately. We the people and Mr. Baldwin have no idea what is going on or what was said to Bryan behind closed doors. I could think of a hundred football things he could have been working on to better himself and the team and tweeting is not one of them.

  6. Screensmoke says:

    Yakima- I would agree

  7. Yakima–I agree, to an extent. But I think youre overreacting a little bit. Baldwin did admit its a business. He just thinks the business could have, and should have, been handled a little better. Like maybe they should have figured out a day or two earlier so Walters didn’t have to fly home alone and unemployed.

I think this will all blow over. ITs less of a concern than Lynch’s frustrations and overreactions lately.

  8. I watched every game that was televised during Flores regime, and it was painful. He came in and said they wanted to stretch defenses, the way the Raiders of old did. So the cut Dave Krieg. Krieg went on to take Detroit deep into the playoffs, losing to the eventual SBwinning Cowturds. Along the way, he threw 13 TD’s and only 2 INT’s in 8 games. Our QB’s stretched only the imaginations of those desperately trying to imagine they were seeing an NFL-quality qb and offense….13 qb’s we went through before finally finding Matt Hasselbeck.

David Wyman says Flores was a good coach, just had no talent on offense outside the RB. He said Flores kept the team together despite the losing, and was a stand-up guy.

The real villains in this play are the Nordstroms who got pissy with the players or daring to strike and sold the team, and who never put enough money into the team for them to win, and to Ken Behring for destroying the heart and soul of a proud blue collar franchise.

  9. FairbanksDoug says:

A lot of assumptions going on. Maybe they found out on Friday night that someone may be potentially coming down with some illness, maybe they were showing some signs of illness, and they did not want to take a chance on the defensive line. Gawd the list of potential problems that could cause a last minute decision to cut someone is endless. And how did they handle it? I don’t know, I wasn’t there, and I haven’t heard any first hand accounts of any ont that was. He was cut from the team, doesn’t mean the flew him out on first plane. He may end up flying out with everyone else. Management has acted with class to this point. Pete Carrol is known to be a players coach, handling this badly would be contrary to that.
