I wonder if that means Harvin Won’t play against the Bucs?

  2. chuck_easton says:

Harvin won’t play against the Bucs.

There was an insider report out there ( not from the team) that Harvin retweeked his hip in practice last week and had to be shut down by Thursday. As he’s not on the active roster the team has no obligation to provide an injury update for him so they won’t.

  3. So Channel 83 is back on the air.

  4. montanamike2 says:

Rockette better step up if he wants to hang on to a team.

  5. I’ll never forget that great game Lockette had at the end of the year 2 years ago. Who knows – maybe this is his time.

  6. Kearse better get back to making plays. I ain’t holding my breath on Lockette doing anything.

We sure could use some good news.

As skeptical as I have been regarding Harvin, I wish he’d heal up and catch some balls for us, the team could use a lift.

  7. doubledink says:

Some of us old farts have been warning on here for some time now not to expect Harvin anytime soon. With his hip getting inflammation with less than a full week of practice we may not see him on the field even when they activate him by the 21 day deadline. Mid-Oct was dreaming. Before the bye is looking unlikely.

  8. doubledink says:

    STTBM
I would be happy if a sprinting Lockette kept the free safety deep and opened the middle of the field.

  9. GeorgiaHawk says:

Yes, I’m getting a little negative here but why do I get the feeling harvin will never see the field much moving forward.

Do you think the FO will but him on IR if his feelings ever get hurt?

    Just venting.

  10. There have been so many recent years when I’ve cared more about the draft almost by mid-season than anything and this year I haven’t even given any thought of the draft until earlier today. Don’t get me wrong, I love this team and this season and still expect to play in a certain game in Feb. but I really would like to draft a tackle and wide receiver in the first two rounds (either order), whether Tate is resigned or not.

I’d love to have a talented tackle that could play RT with the ability to slide to LT and not totally suck there if anything happened to Okung. I don’t care if he has to sit behind Breno for a year. I see nothing from Bowie to make me think he’s going to be good. Bowie sucks right now but he’s only a rookie. However, I don’t see the natural talent that makes me think he’s going to be good. I see a guy who might have a chance to be average. He’s terrible now and will be better next year but if he improves from terrible to “just” kind of crappy – well, that’s still not someone I want as a potential starter when Breno (who can’t really pass “protect” either) is done.

  11. doubledink says:

somewhere inside I hear my dad saying, “If it looks too good to be true…”
I’m kinda with Chuck, I’ll believe it when I see it. Happily, I might add.

  12. WilliamPercival says:

Because its the damn Bucs.. Harvin will not be needed there.

Good call DoubleDink. Not to toot our horns but there wa NO WAY Harvin was activated this week. Especially since FO went a bit early on Carp last yr. We’ve seen the caution they use all year long.

Rockette will give us the stretch we’ve been sorely missing, if not much else…

  13. If you guys go back and watch the Tate TD, it was a sprinting Kearse who ate up the LBs in the short zone and then occupied the Safety deep to give Tate the single coverage he needed.

I also saw Kearse running free on other plays where Wilson needed just 1 more second to get him the ball. Kearse could be that big play guy.

With Revis probably on Tate exclusively this weekend we’ll see what Kearse can do.

  14. RDPoulsbo says:

Obomanu was visiting with the Dolphins today. Wish Seattle could have signed him instead. I don’t see much value in Channel 83. Does he actually run anything other than a go route?

I’m still expecting Harvin to be activated soon. I don’t think they really need him this week, but it will be good just to get him a few touches before the bye week though so he’s ready for the Saints.

  15. Russell is going to drop back to pass and not set up because he doesn’t have time and then start running for his life and then chuck it as far as he can to Lockette. Sounds about like the only realistic game plan we can have when both tackles are out with no depth behind them and both guards aren’t good. Or maybe when we go shotgun, we should put Unger at guard, get out the long-snapper, and let Wilson have about 15 yards between him and the rushing defenders so he can have time to set and throw bombs.

  16. I wonder if teams will consider rushing 2 against the Seahawks since they know they will get pressure that way and then they can drop 9 back into coverage? At least until Okung gets healthy.

(if you took this overly serious – settle down – it’s meant as a “kind of” joke)

  17. doubledink says:

    Bobby,
    no need to explain.

Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who doesn’t get it.

  18. Pabs–yeah, all Kearse needs is to hold onto the ball he’s got the rest down…I’m sure pulling for the kid…

  19. GeorgiaHawk says:

Lol, what’s with this good boy talk? I treat my dog better then that.

  20. No offense, but can you supply a link where Harvin was shut down from practice due to “retweeking” his hip that’s the first I have heard of it anywhere. I have actually been watching fairly close to hear news of him and what I have heard is that the team is taking the long view and will activate him most likely either before or after the atlanta game.

  21. doubledink says:

Pete said last week that his hip was showing inflammation and they iced it. That was why he was not activated they say.

  22. Some things not mentioned here yet:

Percy will not practice today. He’s working out with the Rehab guys.

Carroll expects left tackle Russell Okung to have a “real chance” of returning to practice this Friday.

Carroll described right tackle Breno Giacomini as day-to-day in his recovery from knee surgery. “I would think by next week he would be pretty active in what’s going on,” he said.

  23. Thanks, it appears the fears of some here have been justified. I was hoping that he would help put this team over the top, now not so sure. I guess it’s “we’re all we have and we’re all we need” will be tested. We better be ready to play this weekend!

  24. Adding Lockette to 53 man roster is probably not an indication of Harvin’s status. There’s no reason to activate Harvin at this point, even if he is ready for Sunday. Seahawks have an open roster spot due to Rice’s injury. No reason not to use it. This move prevents another team from signing Lockette off our practice squad, at least for this week.

  25. GeorgiaHawk says:

Skip Baseless proves once again he is a joke. He actually thinks that if only one native American is offended by the Redskins name they should change it? Lol.

  26. ChrisHolmes says:

“I also saw Kearse running free on other plays where Wilson needed just 1 more second to get him the ball. Kearse could be that big play guy.”

There’s been a lot of plays like that, for a lot of guys, including Rice and Tate.

  27. Kind of overlooked a bit in that long Tate TD (b/c of the taunting), was what a fantastic play it was – not only did he go up and get a ball that could’ve/should’ve been picked by the CB, he somehow kept his balance after that jump and ran it in. And when you think about it, w/the way we were unable to move the ball all day, if he had fallen, it’s unlikely that we would’ve gotten the TD.

  28. WilliamPercival says:

Am I the only one that has been desperately desiring to see Alvin Bailey replace McQ? He obviously has the skill set to outperform McQ, but apparently the ZB scheme is reliant upon continuity and knowledge of the system as much as anything, if not moreso than talent…

  29. Does Tate move to flanker, Kerse plays slot and Baldwin/Lockett play SE?

  30. klm–I doubt it. More than likely they play Tate at SE where he’s always been, and play Kearse at FL, with Baldwin in the slot. They may start Baldwin at FL too, but I expect to see Kearse at FL in 3-wide sets. Baldwin is just too damn good at slot to take him out of it…and having one new guy at one position is less risky than putting two players at new positions, or three…

    just my two cents…

  31. WilliamPercival–Yeah, dude, me too; I hate watching McQ fumble around like a sad old fart, whiffing on every speed rush…Id love to see Bailey getting the Sweezy treatment–“Weve committed to him. Even if he sucks for two straight years, we wont bench him because Cable insists he’s the man, and that it will take game time to improve.” But it wont happen. Cable has his pets–and his draftees Fat Carp and Sweezy are his fav, and McQ aint far behind. Gaaah!

  32. Georgia, regardless of Skip Bayless being a tool, the term Redskins is a racial slur and offensive as hell. The fact that its still ok to most Americans proves just how far we have to go as a country in the quest to pull our collective head out of our ass…

  33. ChrisHolmes says:

“Kind of overlooked a bit in that long Tate TD (b/c of the taunting), was what a fantastic play it was – not only did he go up and get a ball that could’ve/should’ve been picked by the CB, he somehow kept his balance after that jump and ran it in. And when you think about it, w/the way we were unable to move the ball all day, if he had fallen, it’s unlikely that we would’ve gotten the TD.”

I keep saying it, and I still think it’s the most accurate way to describe him: Tate is cat-quick. He’s got some kind of feline blood in him. His innate sense of balance and body control is just very cat-like…

I love him. He’s my favorite WR on the team. If he keeps his head from here on out, I think he’s going to make some more key plays this year.

  34. GeorgiaHawk says:

STTBM- Polls show that only 10% of American Indians are offended by the Redskins name. 90% are not. I think that speaks better about this then your opinion.
BTW- Did you know many Indian Reservation High Schools across the US have the Redskins name?

No doubt Snyder is an a$$, but I can’t blame him for sticking to his guns on this.

  35. GeorgiaHawk says:

ChrisHolmes- I agree about Tate and his cat quickness however cats can be a train wreck too with their curiosity.
I would guess that Tate is now on his #4 of his nine lives here.

  36. I’ve worked on several reservations, and that term was universally loathed. But all that is beside the point; it’s a slur, and as such is unacceptable as a team name. Might has well have teams like the Tennessee Honkies or the Memphis Darkies or the San Fran Chinks… And just because it’s traditional doesn’t make it any more acceptable. What next? LA gets a team and they name them the Beaners?!

  37. Georgia, look the term up in the Dictionary; it’s a perjurative term. Fact.

  38. It’s a matter of semantics, but Harvin didn’t really “tweek” his hip. He has inflammation after practicing. Totally normal and expected coming off of surgery and the relative inactivity.

  39. I know 20-20 hindsight, but I can’t help but wonder if some of these guys might not have added more to SEA’s offense than who we drafted(?) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpjCaXaPm1A

  40. I think they are going to wait as long as possible to activate Harvin – his body will need it. just running is different than running-cutting – getting bumped – pushed – tackled – etc.

I think it will take a week or 2 to workout – rest a little and work a little again.
