You can see in the snap counts how the Seahawks are able to rotate defensive linemen in. Most action yet for Bruce Irvin.

  1. Only 8 snaps for Coleman at FB, 16 last week. Hamstring injury aside I’m wondering what the difference is this season. To me there’s several scenarios for not having a FB leading Lynch as much as we’ve seen before. I’ll lay ‘em all out so it makes more sense; I could be totally off the mark on every one.

    a. Rapport between Coleman and Lynch just isn’t there yet.
    b. Coleman’s blocking isn’t on the same level as M-Rob’s (There’s the difference in experience.)
    c. Offensive scheming calling for more bodies on the line of scrimmage, to make up for protection issues.

There’s a lot more to analyze, like if Lynch is getting more YPC when Coleman’s in, or if there’s not actually a drop off from how many snaps M-Rob was getting on average last season, but I don’t have those numbers.

Figured it’d be something worth chewing on anyway.

  2. grizindabox24 says:

I think a big part is Seattle moving away from the fullback and looking to implement more TE/H-Back type philosophy. If I remember correctly, and I do not have links, MRob played under 30% of the offensive snaps in 2012 and I read that Beast actually had a better YPA out of 1 back sets. The only place I see them currently missing MRob is the 3rd and 4th and 1 plays. Not sure how you quantify that in terms of $$$ as to paying the FB position.

  3. MikeFromNewJersey says:

I think they should use Red at FB on 4th on inches from now on. I also think now is a good time to bring back Mike Rob.

  4. bird_spit says:

I can’t get enough of this marshawn lynch taking Docketts head off..

  5. GeorgiaHawk says:

Thanks bird_spit that made my day.

  6. grizindabox24 says:

Mike, I believe their is zero chance that MRob will be a Hawk anytime in the future

  7. MikeFromNewJersey says:

Why would you think that?? anything is possible.

  8. grizindabox24 says:

Mike, seems to me the Hawks have moved on from MRob and are using the FB position less and less. Hard to justify much $$$ for that position.

  9. Screensmoke says:

Jersey mike-I will be in manhatten the weekend of hawks game with my wife-going to game but waiting to get tickets when we r there because they will be much cheaper especially If giants keep on loosing- if u know anyone who’s trying to let go of a couple let me know- touch base closer to dec15-THANKS

  10. To start on this d is a big deal. M. Bennent starts on the bench. My guess is he is a starter on every other team. Same for about five others . Seahawk back up dee is just silly good. Fair to say dee line improvement project was a success. All talk about Harvin addition as the move to put hawks over the top is missing the mark. McDaniel and Bennett are gems. Great job by the front office .Please find a way to pay golden tate he is a great player .

  11. Agree w/you wigman. The additions on the D-line this off-season (and the last couple drafts) were huge. PC and JS aren’t stupid – they know how important pass rushers are to a defense. We’ve got such an abundance of guys who can get after the QB now. More than I can ever remember for this team.

  12. Please note that Mikefromjersey thinks we should bring back M Rob. He’s wrote it the last three posts.

Hey Mike, we get it. But it aint gonna happen no matter how many times u say it. If he was healthy and could still play at a high level someone would have picked him up already.

  13. Here’s the Postgame show from last night..

  14. MikeFromNewJersey says:

@bass, I also was campaining to bring back Clint McDonald, we did and hes been terrific so I know what im talking about.
Maybe teams have called MikeRob and he said no.. I mean its possible the hawks told him they would bring him back when hes healthy. Coleman could be out a few weeks so there could be a need. I think youre forgetting MikeRob was a probowler. Hes no scrub!!

@screensmoke, I will keep my eyes open for tix stay in touch.

  15. MikeFromNewJersey says:

I meant campaigning for Clint McDonald- autocorrect sucks.

  17. raymaines says:

More than the money required to have a fullback is the roster spot. The Seahawks have more receivers and D-Linemen than they know what to do with, so who do you cut to gain a spot for MikeRob? Baldwin? Kearse? Bennett? Right now I’m ready to cut Mike Morgan, but I’m probably overreacting to one stupid penalty.

  18. If you are long time fan of the hawks or the nfl you should already understand that we are in a magical time for the Hawks. That post game video is something I have never seen before in sports. Im confused that fans here complain about anything really. Please enjoy each week of this because times like these are very very rare.

  19. MikeFromNewJersey says:

I think S. Ware could go on IR if they need a spot

  20. grizindabox24 says:

Mike, you also must remember that the Hawks will have to make a move soon for Harvin also.

  21. doubledink says:

I too think MR belongs on this team. If not Ware to IR, Coleman works for me too.

  22. MikeFromNewJersey says:

Bryan Walters is holding Percy’s spot i would think.

  23. grizindabox24 says:

I just do not see the Hawks eating up their available cap space to bring MRob back

  24. MrSinister says:

Wow, I just went to the ESPN NFL home looking for any stories about last nights game, and if it wasn’t for the score in the upper left, you wouldn’t even know they played.

  25. Southendzone says:

Jerseymike, if you’re the one responsible for getting McDonald back on the roster, then pat on the back to you because the guy is playing like a man possessed since he came back!

  26. seahawk44 says:

What I find kinda strange is that the defensive linemen listed as starters (Bryant, Clemons & Mebane) each played less snaps than Bennett, Avril, McDaniel or McDonald. What is the reason?

  27. MoSeahawk12 says:

I thought Irvin looked strong last night. Kam was a baaad man last night as well. Loved seeing him drop the O-lineman. They played with way more energy than I thought they would after playing a game four days earlier. They just looked fresh and ready to play. Pretty incredible turnaround on a short week.

  28. raymaines says:

It’s not often that one NFL team physically dominates the other, but that’s what we saw last night. Seattle punished Arizona. The Cardinals were ready to take a shower and go home in the middle of the third quarter.

Yeah, give the players 10 days rest and the coaches 10 days to make a plan and bring on the Rams. After that we can mix in two starting tackles, a starting middle linebacker, Percy Harvin, and play 5 of the last eight games at home.

There’s lots of room to whine, complain and worry but we all really should take a deep breath and relish the wonderful magic carpet ride we’re on here. The ‘Hawks are 6-1 and the future looks bright. Russell Wilson would tell us all to relax and enjoy the moment!

  29. 44 when the hawks can go up by two scores or more it forces opponents to give up on the run. At this point pass rushers go and run stoppers go out. This is the beauty of the hawks strong roster. Clem would normally play more but is hurting. The hawks line of bennet.clem.avril.irvin is just getting started. Enjoy it because if big red is out we are winning the game.Bennett is my secret Mvp a great player.

  30. JoeinKirkland says:

I’m really impressed by the way Bruce Irvin played last night. He not only had a sack, he was the one burying his helmet in Palmer’s gut on the Browner pick. I also thought he played well against the run. He is so fast, I can’t wait to see him grow into the position of strong-side linebacker.

  31. CDHawkFan says:

Agree Joe, I gave Irvin some grief a few weeks ago, but I really like the way he has played the last 2 weeks. His athletic ability stands out which is amazing as the rest of the guys on the field are ‘pro’s’.

  32. CDHawkFan says:

    From an earlier post;

Displaced; I went back and looked at the tape, it does look like Marshawn did give the middle finger back to the bench as they were lining up for the Davis TD catch play. Marshawn did give a good block on the play though. Also remember him running off the field quickly at the end of the game.

  33. NewJerseyHawk says:

If there are NY/NJ or eastern Seahawk fans meeting on the 15th, I will definitely be there as well.

  34. seahawkfan97 says:

When I was looking for the post game show last night I noticed there were 1,022,022 people that liked or somewhere close to that #. I recall it was like 30,000 or so last time I remembered paying attention to that number!!!! Wow. For the record I have been around here for a while now. Seasahawk fan 97 is kerneys jersey I have..Not that it is a bad thing to be a new hawk fan. Times are good! Sure wish I still had them season tickets in sect clb 212. Dang it anyhow!

  35. ChrisHolmes says:

    @mocarob Thanks for that link!

  36. grizindabox24 says:

I will admit that I could be wrong…have heard from people that are usually very spot on, that MRob will be in Seattle tomorrow for a physical

  37. ChrisHolmes says:

Bob Condotta ‏is reporting on Twitter that MikeRob will be in for a physical Monday.

Seahawks have no healthy FB’s with Coleman hurt.

  38. GeorgiaHawk says:

Don’t get my hopes up ChrisHolmes. Lol.
