Good morning. Feels weird not to have a Seahawks game today, but plenty of action ahead.

Non-Seahawks game of the day

Not at tough choice here. Peyton Manning returns to Indy as the head man of the dominating Broncos offense. Shots fired during the week from Colts owner Jim Irsay. Manning facing his successor. National Sunday night game. Should be fun.

Bob Kravitz of the Indianapolis Star wrote an open letter to Manning.

Yahoo’s Les Carpenter wrote about how meticulous Manning can be.

Oddly, not one sack in the highlights. From NFL.com.

If you were wondering what the word “shorts” means, well, here you have an answer.

Favorite Seahawks moment

From reader Ray Eickmeyer:

My favorite moment was when I went to the Monday Night Football game in Philadelphia on Dec. 5, 2005.

The week before this game the 12th man caused 11 false starts as the NY Giants lost to the Seahawks at home. I traveled on the road to the MNF and the stadium was packed with rowdy Eagles fans. What made this moment so special was by the end of the third quarter nearly ALL the Eagles fans left the stadium, there were maybe 50-100 Eagles fans still at the stadium. It was amazing. An empty stadium on a primetime NFL game. So at the fourth quarter I, with about 50 other Seahawks fans, walked back and forth along the seats to line ourselves up with the scrimmage line. I’ve never seen a NFL game like this, the stadium was empty, and we could watch from wherever we wanted. I will probably never see a primetime game like this again, let alone an NFL game. As you know, at the time this game was the biggest win in MNF history : Seahawks 42, Eagles 0.

Recipe of the day

Since we were just in Arizona, let’s go with huevos rancheros.

Chalk talk with Brock Huard

I’ve seen some talk here about the 55-yard pass to Marshawn Lynch out of the backfield last Sunday against Tennessee. Huard takes a look at that play.

Now, that’s funny (at least to me)
Sometimes, it’s hard to get going on Sunday. Here’s some motivational speaking to get started:

  1. Southendzone says:

Cool video from 1981 training camp. Anyone know if Sam Adkins was the last Seahawk to wear # 12?

  2. thursday says:

Hah, I was at that Giants game in 2005. The Mannings were in the box just up from me.

  3. montanamike2 says:

Good gameday stuff Todd. Too bad i won’t get to see the morning game i want to see, it’s not on television locally.

  4. raymaines says:

S.D. @ Jacksonville at 10:00am and Baltimore @ Pitt. at 1:00pm seems like a travesty to me. There isn’t a need for the west coast team to be in an early game.

My favorite story isn’t my story, but a ‘Hawk fan who had been at the AZ game reported there were so many Seahawk fans at the game that a Card fan had to go three rows up to high five another Card supporter when Wilson fumbled.

  5. edstang45 says:

c’mon down by the river Montanamike…I get SundayTicket in my Van…good stuff Todd..this snday is kinda like the bye week I don’t like thursday games

  6. GeorgiaHawk says:

Agree raymaines, and of course San Francisco at Tennessee at 1:00pm.

  7. Southendzone says:

What a joke, no NFC early game for Comcast local subscribers? The best I can get is NE at NYJ? That is terrible.

  8. montanamike2 says:

That’s the same game i got.

  9. Stop whining and get the ticket!!

  10. LocalGutterGuy says:

Yeah I am watching redzone. I hate Comcast on many levels.

  11. grizindabox24 says:

Because Comcast dictates which games are viewed in which areas….NOT

  12. GeorgiaHawk says:

Lions, Rams and Bears losing so far. I love it!

  13. CDHawkFan says:

Rams really knocking the crap out of Cam Newton on the read option after he hands off to the RB.

  14. CDHawkFan says:

Bradford doesn’t look like he will be playing soon, knee.

  15. MikeFromNewJersey says:

    Let’s go Titans!

  16. grizindabox24 says:

Heard from reliable people that MRob will be in Seattle tomorrow for a physical

  17. So what’s the deal about the Titans keeping the game close today with Locker at QB?

  18. GeorgiaHawk says:

Lockers not healthy. They should have kept him out. But it probably wouldn’t have mattered because the Titans defense can’t stop them.

  19. Dukeshire says:

Nice thread, Todd. That is the best Matt Foley skit, easily. Lol. Also, bacon pumpkin…? Put your hands together.

  20. It’s so crazy how the NFL works out with match-ups. I thought We play better against Arizona on the Road than SF did at home the week before, but then SF goes on the road to Tenn and plays better against them than we did at home. just crazy

Houston has no business playing the way they are in KC, but they sure are.

  21. MoSeahawk12 says:

First thing I thought when Coleman went down on Thursday. This could be a good thing for us. Let’s hope he’s in great shape and completely recovered from his earlier illness.

  22. GeorgiaHawk says:

MoSeahawk12- It could be even more of a chemistry thing then being a in shape thing.
MRob is well liked amongst the team and would certainly give a moral boost.

  23. MoSeahawk12 says:

Agreed, plus he could be a positive boost for the O-line. Coleman was doing pretty well, but Mike Rob has way more experience and one would expect a greater understanding of the playbook, formations and line calls.

  24. Southendzone says:

Gotta love the MikeRob news! If he is healthy there’s something karmic, special, or just right about getting him back on the team. If this really is our year, M.Rob belongs on the team.

As for Bradford, who cares, for all I know, his backup is better than him (and I have no clue who his backup is). I put the Rams in my “Dogsh-t Team” category after their TNF game against San Fran. They are a joke with a decent defense.

  25. MoSeahawk12 says:

Rams looked bad today. It’s surprising they didn’t have more players ejected, saw lots of punches being thrown. Quick should have been disqualified for sure. Love to see him try that against Browner next week. With the extra time off and talent, we should be able to control this game and win.

  26. banosser says:

Let’s hope he’s been working out… and put some lbs back on..

  27. Who would have thought that the Broncos needed to win to keep pace (not Orlando) with the Chiefs?

  28. Southendzone says:

Still not super impressed with the Chiefs. Alex Smith is well… the Alex Smith we all remember. If he’s got a lead and playing at home, he looks acceptable. He won’t ever LOSE a game for you in this situation.

If you are ever behind more than 1 score with Alex Smith as your QB, pack up your stuff, beat the traffic and go home. Best case scenario, KC wins 1 playoff game at home vs a wild card team.

  29. I would love to see MikeRob slamming into Ram linebackers next week.

  30. IF they sign Mrob – who goes? Ware to IR? Coleman to IR?

  31. MikeFromNewJersey says:

This news makes me smile:))) i knew it would happen all along..

  32. MikeFromNewJersey says:

If MikeRob comes back I guess they probably IR S.Ware because Ware is not really a FB, he is basically the 4th string RB. Then you figure Walters goes when Percy comes back.
