Obviously, this wasn’t the blowout that some people expected. The Seahawks didn’t play particularly well. They had offensive line issues and they made some costly mistakes. The play before halftime was a disaster. But in the end, they won. They improve to 5-1 on the season.

Let’s get to it ….

1. Where are the Seahawks in comparison to your expectation of where they should be as  team?

2. What is the biggest positive you took away from the win?

3. What are the biggest issues you saw in the win?

4. Game ball goes to whom and why?

5. With a short preparation week, what are your initial thoughts going into Thursday’s game against the Cardinals?

  1. SandpointHawk says:

    Nice feature, I like it….

  2. I will never need ipecac again. All you have to do is read a little of one of the game chats.

  3. *presents knuckles to Divish* Can’t ever get enough of dap.

  4. CDHawkFan says:

Biggest positive, I don’t think anyone was injured to keep them out of Thursday’s game.

Biggest issue(s), I want them to cut Carp tomorrow, why doesn’t Turbin got out of bounds instead of faking himself out again and falling on his face, RW let the ref get the ball, can’t believe WTIII is better than Winfield. Not enough pressure from our D line.

    Less Rice, more Kearse.

Worst performance in over a year.

  5. 1. Where are the Seahawks in comparison to your expectation of where they should be as team? I’m glad this SEA team didn’t play NO today. They need lotsa work.

    2. What is the biggest positive you took away from the win? ITS A WIN.

    3. What are the biggest issues you saw in the win? Ugliest win ever – lucky & unlucky together. Forget this game.

    4. Game ball goes to whom and why? That TEN player who flipped SEA’s fumbled ball back to RW.

    5. With a short preparation week, what are your initial thoughts going into Thursday’s game against the Cardinals? Forget reviewing this last game and go directly to preparing for the Cards at their Jiffy Pop dome this Thursday.

  6. 1. I thought the OL would be better. I realize they are without Okung, but Okung can’t play the interior OL and the guard play has been pretty bad this year and RT hasn’t been anything to write home about either.

    2. The fact that it was, indeed, a win. A win is a win and it’s all that really matters. We need home field (even though they can win on the road) and it was another step in that direction.

    3. See first question.

    4. ET flew around pretty well today.

    5. Another win. Hawks are going to be 6-1 Thursday night.

  7. DanielleMND says:

    1. Where are the Seahawks in comparison to your expectation of where they should be as team?

I just don’t see us as an elite team right now, despite our record. Only one of our wins has come against a team that’s currently above .500.

    2. What is the biggest positive you took away from the win?

    We won.

    3. What are the biggest issues you saw in the win?

The O-line continued to struggle. The pass rush seemed to disappear at times.

    4. Game ball goes to whom and why?

Russell Wilson, for once again staying cool and carrying the team to a victory.

    5. With a short preparation week, what are your initial thoughts going into Thursday’s game against the Cardinals?

It’s going to be a tough, close game again.

  8. Southendzone says:

    2. What is the biggest positive you took away from the win?

Team kept composed, even though this one was tense for fans, I think the players knew they had it under control

    3. What are the biggest issues you saw in the win?

    - Browner again looking vulnerable in coverage. IND exploited it and TEN did a little, but Fitz is not Luck and it just wasn’t gonna happen at CLINK.

    5. With a short preparation week, what are your initial thoughts going into Thursday’s game against the Cardinals?

    - Reasons to worry:
    Road game
    AZ defense >>>> TEN defense
    AZ QB >>>>> Ten QB
    AZ WR >>> Ten QB

    Reasons to feel OK:
SEA not going to give up a 10 point swing on a FG attempt 3 weeks in a row
SEA can be expected to put the ball on the ground less than they did today.
Calais Campbell for AZ went out with what looked like a serious injury today vs SF, maybe he won’t play and help out our poor O line on the road vs a nasty AZ Defense

  9. averagejay says:

    1. Where are the Seahawks in comparison to your expectation of where they should be as team? They are winning ugly. No consistency. Just all over the place. I expected them to build on last year. So far they have been real lucky.

    2. What is the biggest positive you took away from the win? I don’t remember any injuries and LOB played better.

    3. What are the biggest issues you saw in the win? Sloppy ball protection. Stupid play at the end of the half. Go for the touch down.

    4. Game ball goes to whom and why? LOB. Two picks

    5. With a short preparation week, what are your initial thoughts going into Thursday’s game against the Cardinals? The Hawks need to focus. They just seem to careless. Relying too much on magic.

  10. sluggo42 says:

Honestly, we suck. if it wasnt for RW, WE WOULD HAVE A CRAPPY RECORD.
    Positive = we won
Biggest issue is an oline that’s horrid. Cable sucks and so does the line. We are the worst in the league, and as soon as we play a good team well get murdered.
Browner has no chance against anybody small or quick. Coaching decisions are bad. The botched FG was rediculous, and simply stupid. They should have gone for it. Bevell is going into a shell…
Going to AZ… For some reason, I fully expect the team to do well and win.

What was the team thinking on so many bone headed plays? What was rice trying to do? Waving the ball blindly over his head after having the first down by a mile. Flat stupid. I swear I was so pissed off this game I was ready to scream…

  11. thursday says:

    1. Where are the Seahawks in comparison to your expectation of where they should be as team?

I feel like they should be winning games in a consistent and at least somewhat dominant manner, but instead we’re winning sloppy and ugly.

    2. What is the biggest positive you took away from the win?

Um, winning? Actually, pretty much Wilson. It’s clear if we didn’t have him, we’d probably be like, 1-5.

    3. What are the biggest issues you saw in the win?

Wow, where to start? Mental errors have to top it though.

    4. Game ball goes to whom and why?

Wilson, because he simply kept them afloat with his scrambling.

    5. With a short preparation week, what are your initial thoughts going into Thursday’s game against the Cardinals?

    I’m scared.

  12. aelliott11 says:

Seriously? Look at all you guys crying because the Hawks won a home game against a very tough defense. Take away a really flukey botched FG attempt by OUR PUNTER and a substitute holder, and TEN scored two field goals.

Our offense doesn’t look very crisp, but picked up big time in the 2nd half. And the Titans D is stout. Give them tons of credit.

Carp is terrible. Too many mental mistakes. Lots of things here that need fixin. But chill out for the love of Pete. It’s a great win, esp since the Saints lost.

  13. MoSeahawk12 says:

    5-1, first place.
Look at the should have been 6-0 Saints. They pulled a defeat out of a sure victory.
Things could be way worse. Giants, Jags anyone?
There not all going to luck pretty.
Lots of Rice hate today, yet he makes a critical catch that was damn amazing. Lots of season left to improve issues.

  14. We can’t suck if we’re 5-1. We can talk about luck but great players and teams seem to have more “luck” at getting wins like this than teams with less talent but many times if you’re great – you create your own luck more often and that’s what is happening with us right now (and I say “us” because we’ll all be in for treatment tomorrow and will start practicing again with the team on Tuesday – lol).

Are these Hawks playing as well as a expected? Yes and no. Yes because I expected them to be about 5-1 at this point in the season but no because I did think they would be looking better in a few areas (like the OL).

They need to get Okung back healthy so they can slide McQuistan (who isn’t overly good in his own right) back inside. Okung is obviously a key because he’s a Pro Bowl LT and McQuistan is downright overmatched there. And then McQuistan can put Carp on the bench and improve the LG play (although I think he’s probably a below average NFL LG – that’s still better than what Carp is up to this point).

Getting Miller back next week will help from a depth perspective. That shoves Willson to TE2 and that really improves the team when they go with two TEs. Willson was definitely a steal for where they drafted him.

I know the WRs are criticized for lack of separation and they should be but Rice wasn’t a guy who created a lot of separation when he had Favre either. I wonder if Wilson (I’m sure he has) has watched all of Rice’s receptions from a few years ago and seen that many weren’t because Rice was wide open? Of course, the way Wilson is running around for his life, it’s not like he has time to check the field for hours either.

  15. The only one that needs a response imo

    3. What are the biggest issues you saw in the win?
Beyond the obvious (the injured OL) RW has nobody to throw to. The WRs dont get open. I think Rice is a shell of his former self, he used to be fast. Tate makes great plays on the ball while its in the air, and is great once its in his hands, but by all accounts doesnt run great routes, maybe that is why he is rarely open. When the receivers do get open, poor WIlson is already running for his life.

  16. I will also add in defense of the WRs, that the passing game needs great timing, and that is impossible when the QB is running for his life. Plus, teams dont really have to blitz us, since we cant block anyone, so it makes covering the WRs much easier.

  17. Whatever separation that Rice had seemed to be taken by that knee surgery he had in preseason. Carroll called it “no big deal” at the time, but it clearly was. Whether he gets better or not, I don’t know. For all I know, he might be back to himself by the end of the year. But he doesn’t look like he is improving at all at this point.

  18. bulldog80 says:

I love fight in this team. In the past our team would have folded after a play like that one at the end of the half. This team is never out of it.

Now, we need big help in our passing game. Tate isn’t a reliable receiver, I don’t care what anyone says. Baldwin is our best receiver and he doesn’t get targeted often enough. Rw doesn’t seem to keep his eyes downfield while he’s scrambling as well as he did last year. If he could make a few of those throws on the run it would add another dimension.

I’m disappointed in the consistency of our pass rush and I don’t think Browner is the second best corner on the team anymore.

  19. Pass rush was not there most of the game, and it seemed we rarely brought more than 4 guys.

  20. 1. We’re behind both offensively and defensively. Something…not quite sure what…has been “off” since the 49er win.

    2. The biggest positive is we were resilient…very resilient.

    3. I continue to be worried about our depth on the o-line. But today I was mosre bothered by our lack of a consistent pass rush. Fitzpatrick had WAY too much time to throw much of the day. This group should be the best rotation in the league but it feels like we’re under achieving.

    4. Game balls to Tate and Sherman. Marshawn played great also, but I think overall Tate had a couple of big plays. Then again Rice had a tremendous toe-touching catch. Sherman simply for doing his thing. They didn’t even try to throw at him today and when they finally did he made a great pick. I’m a little concerned with Browner right now though. Did he get hurt or was his hammy still sore and they finally took him out?

    5. Short prep week against a team that always plays us tough in the desert. I think we need to go back to basics just a bit this week. I’m getting tired of seeing us continue to try to throw the ball and THEN run it. We need to get back to plowing down the field 3 to 4 yards at a time so their DL is tired and the play action actually gives RW time. So back to basics. Marshawn left. Marshawn right. Baby stiff arm here. Baby stiff arm there. Dagger to the wide outs as offered up by the D.

  21. 1. Where are the Seahawks in comparison to your expectation of where they should be as team?

Very pleased, especially with the O line injuries. I’m especially pleasantly surprised with the receivers, Tate is turning into something special.

    2. What is the biggest positive you took away from the win?

The O had problems & we got a W. Tate. Kearse. Wilson.

    3. What are the biggest issues you saw in the win?
    The O line.

    4. Game ball goes to whom and why?
    Defensive secondary & Wilson.

    5. With a short preparation week, what are your initial thoughts going into Thursday’s game against the Cardinals?

    It’s a really short week. At least it isn’t a 10 am game………..

  22. I think we’re turning into an elite team. Now just need to get consistent & get over the injuries. Okung (& getting Carp OUT of the lineup) will make a huge difference.

I also think Wilson is very close to being an elite QB. Not quite yet, but very close.

  23. seahawkfan97 says:

    1. Where are the Seahawks in comparison to your expectation of where they should be as team? right where I realistically expected record wise, was dreaming 6-0. Offense and defense is way behind where I expected. Actually the offense more so than the D. The defense isn’t getting enough credit for what they have done so far. I E Carolina/Houston/Indy Indy-2 plays, the rest of the game was pretty good!

    2. What is the biggest positive you took away from the win?
The Offense got into a rhythm and not w/o the o-line blocking!

    3. What are the biggest issues you saw in the win?
Mental errors and that field goal attempt! Go for the touchdown. Feel sorry for Maragos, he is such a good special teamer and to choke bummer

    4. Game ball goes to whom and why?
o-line for run blocking and hanging in. Did you see that hole they made for Lynch?

    5. With a short preparation week, what are your initial thoughts going into Thursday’s game against the Cardinals? This could turn out very bad. We need to clean up some stuff on both sides of the ball. I watched part of the SF game and they hung with them.

I disagree with some of the comments concerning
1.the receivers not getting open….Wilson needs time to make the throws and the receivers need time for the route to develop.
    2. BB is doing fine in my opinion. If you hardly throw to Sherman’s side, elite NFL receivers are going to make some plays @ BB. Come on people just because they are called the legion of Boom doesn’t mean they are going to stop every pass. Indy went at Sherm and won Houston didn’t
    3. BB is still the 2nd best corner on the team! Nice play in the end zone! WT III is usually there to make the tackle after the catch When he is targeted. Shorter passes Walters way, less impact on game!
    4. Rice is still making awesome plays when RW HAS THE TIME TO THROW IT AND RICE HAS THE TIME TO BREAK OUT OF THE ROUTE!!
really? the sky is falling? really?
We split Houston/Indy and won every other game. Some were ugly, some were not. Ill take it.

  24. seahawkfan97 says:

And what I think has been off since the SF game is the O-line

  25. steffonator says:

Sluggo 42 says it all, I’m sorry but he’s right.

  26. You are what your record says you are. Therefore we are a 5-1 team, one of the best in the league, and “elite”. There are most definitely issues we have to clean up, but every team has those.

I think Okung coming back will naturally take care of the OL since it will slide McQ over to his more natural spot and kick Carp to the curb.
Giac will come back, but if he struggles, I think Bowie is not much worse since he will improve by season’s end.

Then we will also get Percy back, and our DL should be a beast by the end of the season. I really believe our D will be monsters towards the end, since our DL will put so much heat on the opposing QB, letting the LOB wreak havoc.

Let’s just TCB in AZ and we’ll be fine. 6-1 and things are looking up.
