Good morning. Let’s get to it.
Non-Seahawks game of the day
New Orleans (4-0) at Chicago (3-1)
The ‘O’ might go here for the Saints. The Bears are 2-0 at Soldier Field this season, but the Saints have the best regular-season road record in the NFL since 2009 (22-11).
“That’s a place that we’ve struggled. And we’re well aware of that. And we’ve talked a lot in other seasons, if you want to do things you’ve never done before, you have to do things you’ve never done before,” Saints tackle Zach Strief told ESPN.com. “That’s a point of emphasis this week. It’s a good crowd, it’s a team that plays well at home, and it’s a big challenge”
A Saints loss and Seahawks win would leave Seattle as the last unbeaten in the NFC. Lot to take place before that happens.
Week 4 Seahawks highlights
You have to head over to NFL.com to watch these now. Other options were shut down, as explained here:
“YouTube account BALTY has been terminated because we received multiple third-party notifications of copyright infringement from claimants including: NFL”
View from the other side
Apparently, Stanford grad and public cookie-cutter Andrew Luck has a different demeanor in the huddle. From the Indianapolis Star:
“But did you know the Indianapolis Colts quarterback is also intense, fiery and, when necessary, profane? You didn’t because you’ve never been in the huddle with him.
Those who have see another side of Luck. The side willing to get in your face, the side that demands nothing less than perfection and the side that runs completely counter to Luck’s public image that even teammates admit is a bit, well, “nerdy.”
“You look at him, and you wouldn’t think some of that stuff could come out of his mouth,” receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey said. “I don’t know if I can repeat some of it.”
Flashback video of the day
2001, last stand in the AFC
Today in bacon
Whipped vodka candied bacon. What other way to celebrate national vodka day (it was Friday) than with bacon?
Favorite Seahawks moment from reader Nancy Neiman:
My favorite Seahawks moment happened last year on December 30th, 2012. This one play in the 3rd quarter against the Rams cemented this player as my favorite: Golden Tate ran for several extra yards after losing a shoe. I was so excited by the play and the 1st down that I spontaneously yelled out (to the chagrin of my poor husband) “GOLDEN TATE DON’T NEED NO SHOES!” as if he could outrun everyone barefoot. This isn’t true of course, but every time Golden Tate catches a ball, I still yell out, “GOLDEN TATE!”
After last Sunday’s game, Nancy also added, “And now Sherman don’t need no shoes, either! Go Hawks!”
Again, I expected more of these. We’re going to open this category up a bit to include your favorite Seahawks moment or your all-time starting Seahawks team. Quit slacking off and send me an email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Recipe of the day:
Since we are in Indiana this week, we’ll go with Justin’s Hoosier Daddy Chili (not to be confused with “Who’s your daddy chili” served at tapings of the Maury Povich Show).
Chalk talk with Brock Huard of 710 ESPN
Now, that’s funny (at least to me):
A follow-up on last week’s video.
