According to Ian Rapoport, Golden Tate was fined $21,000 for his block on Jacksonville safety Dwight Lowery that concussed Lowery.

Tate was also fined $21,000 last year for his block on Dallas linebacker Sean Lee.

Here’s another look at last Sunday’s block:

Here’s what Carroll had to say today about the fine. He was asked Monday what he thought of the block and said he had no problem with, and added that he hoped Lowery was all right. He also said at the time they had not heard from the league about the block.

“It’s very unfortunate,” he said. “It was a really good block and it was unfortunate for the kid that he was in position to get hit so hard, but the intent was to lay a block, that just happened to occur in the heat of the moment. It was a big blast and hit and he got nailed pretty good. It’s really hard for these guys to play really hard-nosed tough football and be right all the time. They are trying and they are trying to do the right thing and the league sees it the other way sometimes, so unfortunate that’s the way they ruled on it.’’

Lowery looks over right before the hit. What do they expect, Golden to stop and shake hands with the bozo before he throws the block?…SMH

  3. I’m impressed with Tate’s blocking – besides being really good at causing missed tackles as a receiver in space, he really can lay a lick!

    I like this comment-

“Pretty soon we’re going to see fines for things like “looking at an opposing player with a mean expression on your face” and “making your opponents feel bad by celebrating after a big play”
