DT McDaniel new addition to injury report

Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Tony McDaniel can’t seem to shake a nagging groin injury that’s bothered him since training camp.

McDaniel was the only new player on the injury report for the Seahawks this afternoon. He did not practice because of a lingering hamstring issue.

Cornerback Brandon Browner also did not make it back on the field today, as Pete Carroll had anticipated. So it appears a hamstring injury could keep Seattle’s starting cornerback out a second straight game. The Seahawks could use the physical Browner on the field to slow down Anquan Boldin.

Other Seattle players who did not practice today include defensive tackle Jordan Hill (biceps) and strong safety Jeron Johnson (hamstring).

Brandon Mebane returned to practice as a limited participant, after missing Wednesday’s workout with an ankle issue.

Full participants for the Seahawks include tight end Luke Willson (oblique), defensive end Chris Clemons (knee), defensive end Cliff Avril (hamstring), offensive lineman Michael Bowie (shoulder) and receiver Sidney Rice (knee).

Looks like we are going to need another DT for this game, especially with the 9er run game.

  2. Clemons a full participant. Does that mean he’s a go for Sunday?

  3. freedom_X says:

So much for the 49ers being the quiet team and Seattle being the brash, trash-talking team, thanks to Donte Whitner. (I almost typoed “Whiner.” :) )

  4. McDaniels injury is a big deal. I fully expect the Niners to pound the rock on us. Jordan Hill can’t get healed fast enough, never mind Clemons and Avril.

  5. Clemons would probably not be a go for Sunday, since Carroll usually has players practice fully at least a week before getting on the field. With Clem’s age and importance to the team, I would expect Coach to be careful. (though they say Clem is really wanting to get on the field)

I would expect Avril to play Leo on 1st downs, with Schofield subbing in on passing downs. And I’m hoping that we just might see Avril (Leo), Schofield (Sam), and Bennett all on the field together on third down. One can dream, right?

You can believe that we’ll be seeing lots more 3-4 looks this game. Write it down…

  7. MikeFromNewJersey says:

Our thinness at DT is worrying me. We need some beef.

  8. JazBadAzz says:

Clint Mcdonald? Was he an injury settlement?thought he was doing okay.

  9. MikeFromNewJersey says:

I agree! Bring back Clinton McDonald.

Had to post this to take the edge off. Harbaugh cameo in this is hilarious. “Don’t do heroin”

  11. sluggo42 says:

McD is deeply important, this hurts.

  12. Injuries always hurt. but the guys we are missing are types of guys we could really use for this particular game.

I did notice that the 49’s were picked more often to win than the Hawks in the pick’em game!!!

  13. jawpeace says:

Does anyone know if the Hawks added Bradford to the practice squad?

  14. Bradford was claimed by the Giants. Sucks.

  15. STL cut ’13 UDFA Ohio State’s DT Garrett Goebel (6-4/292) who played 137 snaps this preseason and ranked tied with Terrance Cody (remember Mt Cody?) for 1st place in run-stopping among DTs this preseason (PFF score 6.6). He got 2 penalties this preseason and isn’t great at pass rushing (got 2 QB hurries). http://www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/goebel_garrett00.html http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/college_player_scouting_report.html&player=35925 Wish SEA could bring him in for a good look over… Although it would doubtless be too late for the SF game, it might be good to have him available to replace injured DLers(?)

  16. Hope no one gets bent out of shape that this is late, off thread, etc.. Been out of the loop mostly the last few days.

Eric, I want to extend a sincere thanks for all of the great work you’ve done the 4 years or so I have followed the blog and putting up with knuckleheads like myself. I wish the best for you and your family in SD. Not going to have much use for a sweater vest down there. Got to do what’s best for yourself and your family when it comes to work.

I believe Todd Dybas will do an excellent job on this blog. No Frank Hughes for sure. At least from what I hear about Frank. I wasn’t really here. The guy posts a lot of content. A lot of outstanding stuff. I don’t follow the Huskies blog like I do this one, but he does an excellent job there. Shame no one comments there for some reason. He’s in for a change there. Huskies Football ruled the roost in these parts when I first started to follow football.

Guys like Duke should really like him. He seems to post a fair amount of scheme related material. Having to occasionally put up with Div is the price we have to pay. Wink, wink.

  17. GeorgiaHawk says:

Wilson doesn’t care if Defenses aren’t impressed with him, All he cares about is winning and spreading the rock, like he did last game to the tune of at least two completions to eight different receiver’s.

  18. GeorgiaHawk says:

BTW- It will be fun watching Wilson play chess while Whitner plays checkers.

  19. GeorgiaHawk says:

Sunday’s game falls on Carroll’s 62nd birthday. It was Harbaugh’s 49th birthday when the teams’ played last year in Dec.

Hopefully Carroll will have a happy birthday.

I just got back from fishing for a few days out of town, slayed ‘em at Canyon Ferry lake. I was a little hesitant about reading this morning because i was afraid of more bad news, McDaniel hurt totally sucks, we lost Bradford too?

  21. GeorgiaHawk says:

    Losing Bradford hurts for sure.

    Good thing we have Wagner.

This is a great article about Wagners development. A must read imo.-

  22. dirtbiker_joey says:

It will be a hard-fought game, but I think in the end, the team that scores more points will win.

    Go Hawks!

  23. Now that’s someone going out on a limb.

  24. GeorgiaHawk says:

Looks like the rain will be there for Sunday nights game.

  25. seahawkNJ says:

Great article on BWagz! Thanks for the link Georgia.

  26. At the end of the day, it is what it is: you play the hand youre dealt, and youre only as good as your record shows. And you can hang your hat on that!

  27. jawpeace says:

GeorgiaHawk thanks for the Wagner link that was a good read!
And that does suck about Bradford. Hopefully the Giants will try to put him on their practice squad later this year and we can claim him back. The way we did with Justin Forsett a few years ago when Indy claimed him.
