The Seattle Seahawks announced inactives for this morning. And it’s no surprise that cornerback Brandon Browner and defensive end Cliff Avril will not play today.

Browner worked out with trainers here this morning, but looked tentative and did not move at full speed during the workout. He briefly met with defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, and you could see the disappointment in Browner’s face.

Avril appears like he’s close, but perhaps Pete Carroll wants to give him another week, so that he’s ready for a more important game against San Francisco in the team’s home opener.

Along with Browner and Avril, rookie linebacker John Lotulelei, defensive end Chris Clemons, defensive tackle Jordan Hill and offensive linemen Michael Bowie and Alvin Bailey are inactive for the Carolina game.

For the Panthers, safety Mike Mitchell, running back Kenjon Barner, cornerback James Dockery, center Brian Folkerts, Amini Silatolu, Domenik Hixon and Wes Horton are inactive.

So that means Quintin Mikell will start at safety for Mitchell.

As usual, when PS says a player is a game time decision the ‘decision’ is almost always that the player won’t play. No shock here.

  2. No good reason to risk either BB or Avril to re-injuring themselves today. Next week is the division game and that’s when we need all hands on deck.
