A couple quick notes from Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll’s press conference this afternoon.

Carroll said that offensive lineman James Carpenter will play on Sunday against Carolina, but will not start at left guard.

Chris Clemons(knee), Stephen Williams (concussion), Sidney Rice (knee), Brandon Mebane (groin), Tony McDaniel (groin) and Cliff Avril (hamstring) are expected to practice today.

Carroll said that Williams will not take part in any contact drills during practice as he recovers from a concussion.

Carroll reiterated that Jermaine Kearse will return kicks, and Golden Tate will return punts.

Headed to the locker room.

  1. Great news about Carp. Bring him back slow and keep him healthy. Hopefully we’ll have everyone but Clem back.

Looking forward to watching my first game in Las Vegas since moving here. Got an immediate response from the Seahawk fan club in Vegas about where to watch the game. Saw plenty of facebook photos – looks like the 12th man is in force in LV!

Looking forward to the practice report. Cautiously optimistic about their health. At least more so than I was two weeks ago.

  3. I’m a little scared….not gonna lie. We are real banged up for week 1.

I am very curious about Sidney Rice. The knee procedure is very non invasive. If its just precautionary that’s cool, but seems like there is more to it than what we have heard at this point. Here’s to hoping I am making something out of nothing.

    What about Avril?

  5. Southendzone says:

Rice and Lynch will light it up on Sunday with their fresh legs. Marshawn gonna go for 145 and 2 tds

  6. Seahawk44 – Eric’s tweet says Avril practicing today.

  7. Carp in no way ready to start, hasnt earned it. Glad to hear he will get some playing time. I would love nothing better than to see him kick butt and earn the starting LG spot, and see McQ replace Sweezy. Sweezy needs at the minimum another year riding the pine.

STTBM, you need to get over your love affair of Moffitt or hate affair for Sweezy. He was the starter for most of last year, when Marshawn ran for career numbers and the Seahawks posted their 3rd highest win total ever. He is just going to get better which is also the reason they let Moffitt go – so much more upside. As far as Carp goes, I don’t think he has to “earn” anything at this point. He is their best guard by far. He just needs to get into football shape (which for him is round and HUGE!) I do agree though, McQ can certainly push Sweezy for that RG spot once Carp is back 100% but it still goes to Sweezy and just adds depth to the line for injury protection.

I’m not so sure Carp is better then McQ at LG. What Ive seen from him to this point says he is not. He looked bad last year. People can say he is a better option when healthy. Personally, I’m not so sure. But I hope so.

  10. Waldo–Sweezy sucks right now, and he sucked last year. He’s pathetically inconsistent. Lynch got those yards because of Unger, Okung, and his own talents and balls–and in SPITE of Sweezy.

I never said Sweezy wouldnt improve, but I am tired of waiting for him to improve enough to belong onfield. Right now, he belongs on the bench. The only reason he isnt is because Cable has his own ego tied up in Sweezy–he’s got a mancrush on the guy.

And as I said, I cant wait for Carpenter to get himself in shape enough to take the LG spot so McQ can play RG. That will give us our best possible line, IMO. At least this year. Because until Sweezy can play at an adequate NFL level in training camp, I dont want to see him onfield, especially if we have better players–and I think we do.

With Michael Robinson gone- who’s the emergency QB for Seattle now?
