Antoine Winfield’s short tenure in Seattle apparently will come to a surprising conclusion. Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reports that the 36-year-old cornerback intends to retire.

Seattle head coach Pete Carroll confirmed the report via Twitter.
Wishing Antoine Winfield the best in his decision to retire. He's a consummate pro and a great team player. We were lucky to have him!— Pete Carroll (@PeteCarroll) August 31, 2013
So the youth movement for the Seahawks continues. Walter Thurmond played so well during the preseason that he forced the team to make a decision, because he’s too good to leave on the sideline.
Also, young guys like Jeremy Lane and Byron Maxwell had to give Pete Carroll confidence that if Thurmond suffered yet another injury, the team had enough quality depth that could come in and play at a high level.
