The Seattle Seahawks released tight end Michael Palmer on Tuesday. With the vacant roster spot, Seattle signed defensive tackle Martin Parker.

Parker initially signed as an undrafted rookie free agent with the New York Giants on July 28, 2011. He spent the Giants Super Bowl-winning 2011 season on injured reserve. Parker did not play in a game last season and was released by New York on February 6.

Palmer signed with Seattle on July 23. The Seahawks now have seven tight ends on the 90-man roster, and eight players capable of playing defensive tackle.

  1. crap. we may have 7 TEs on the roster, but without and Palmer, Zach Miller are the only TEs we had who have ever caught a pass in the NFL. With Palmer cut and MIller injured, we have zero experience at the position.

  2. GeorgiaHawk says:

So they cut Ray Polk for Michael Palmer and now they cut Palmer for Parker.
I hope they got some kind of info about Atlanta’s Offense and Gonzalez (from Palmer) that can be used when they play the Falcons this year.

  3. Some good news – Danny O’Neil reported today that Carpenter hurt his right foot – not his knee – yesterday. It was his knee that took him down two years in a row. At least that’s not the problem this time.

  4. GeorgiaHawk says:

    Good news indeed!

Now I can move the Crow a little closer to the freezer door.

  5. tchristensen says:

The front office must feel fairly confident Zach Miller will be ready for the season.

  6. freedom_X says:

One reason some players who get hurt, stay hurt, is that they affect other parts of their body compensating for the original injury. That’s one risk Percy Harvin would have taken if he didn’t have the surgery.

Was the foot Carpenter injured, opposite of his bum knee?

  7. left knee – right foot. Of course it could be as simple as someone stepped on the foot while he was rotating creating an issue.

I guess we will not know until PC deems it necessary to tell us.

  8. chuck_easton says:

I’m going with the Okung theory. First two years he couldn’t get out of the way of his own feet, literally. Year three he was a pro bowler.

    This is Carps year.

  9. GeorgiaHawk says:

You surprise me. Usually you are more conservative than this, however I like it and hope you are right.
