Well, that didn’t last long.

A week after he signed with the Toronto Argonauts, former Seattle receiver Mike Williams was released by the Canadian Football League team this afternoon.

Williams was one of 43 players who participated in a rookie minicamp for the Argonauts, with the hopes of being invited back to compete in the veteran camp beginning in June.

You can watch Williams on the field here.

I always liked Big Mike. Wished he could have caught on somewhere. Looks like this is the end for the big fella.

  2. Always hoped he’d make it back. His foot speed looked really good in that video, but he’s rusty. I really hope he can make another comeback, but it’s highly unlikely.

  3. bird_spit says:

I really wish Big Mike could play big, and transition to TE…but we all know his reluctance. Too Bad..he has all of the physicality, just not the will.

  4. GeorgiaHawk says:

Big Mike is a big reason why he can’t make it on any team in the NFL, much less the CFL.

Another case of eating yourself out of the league.

    Moffitt, Carpenter take note.

  5. GeorgiaHawk says:

John Madden should be higher than 12 imo. Before the Seahawks were in existence I was a big fan of the Raiders and John Madden. He was the best imo.

  6. GeorgiaHawk says:

Thanks Oklahoma, good article! This is what I would like to see Dukshire do. Perhaps Eric and Dukeshire could get together and make this happen.

  7. GeorgiaHawk says:

    Dukeshire! Dam happy hour!

  8. Dukeshire says:

Eric and I talked before last season about me doing a personnel breakdown for each game: packages, sets, groupings, etc… But I simply didn’t have the time. Well, I do this year and intend to submit them to E starting with the first preseason game. If he doesn’t want to use them that’s fine, but my intention is to use them as the season wears on to include scheme breakdowns.

In any case, it’s something Im planning on so we’ll see how it works out.

    Thanks for the vote, Georgia.

  9. Dukeshire says:

BTW Georgia, Im nearly half way through that 19.5 I spoke about yesterday and fixing to go Moffitt on that big Elm tree I’ve been eyeing. Got to keep keen out for The Man…

  10. FairbanksDoug says:

Guess it might be a classless act to go, in the style of these guys climbing all over C-Link, and find that security guards vehicle parked in the mall parking lot and urinate on his tires. Maybe wear a Moffitt jersey and post that on YouTube. I am not conveniently located for such a feat, but never made a YouTube video yet that would be fun. Ahh maybe that might be something I might of tried 20 years ago.

  11. GeorgiaHawk says:

    Lol Dukeshire,

I can’t wait to see the scheme breakdowns. With BobbyK’s great article writing and your scheme breakdowns, Nates in depth analysis, and audible’s sense of humor, this blog could be one of the best Seahawk blogs imo.

Also there are many other TNT contributors that make this site special.- hawkfaninoklahoma, STTBM, bird_spit, Montanamike, Ewalters7354, Pabs,jboard1,Stevos,xcman,Sluggo42,Danielle MND,Chuck,Klm008,HawksKD,Gelena,Bird_spit,Canfan,Sekolah,ramaines,CCVI,Princeadon,Jawpeace,HawkfaninMT,ruminator,Skavage,mocarob,ryanryan,HawkFromDay1,CDHawkFan,Southendzone,HonHawksLSB,Matt@Cindy,and of course Yankita.
    And a host of others.

  12. GeorgiaHawk says:

Oh, and I forgot FairbanksDoug, rumor has it that he gives out free beer to all Seahawk TNT bloggers.

  13. montanamike2 says:

Thanks Georgiahawk, Duke i look forward to reading some of your breakdowns. For the record , i bet a friend last year that we would make the SB within the next two years. I guess this year decides if i owe him or if i won 100.00, i still love my team and would be happy to even replicate last year, of course i don’t remember 3 straight 50 pointers by a rookie qb on this team lately or being so confident in home games but maybe that’s just me. Duke don’t get caught, Moffitt is actually a better man than me because there’s no way a mall cop is gonna take me alive!

  14. vichawkfan says:

Duke – apologies for the Winfield thread and subsequent jump on you for not being excited weeks back. You sound like a man that’s had his belt loosened the past week. I look forward to hearing these weekly reports!

  15. raymaines says:

montanamike2: I’ll tell ya what buddy, if the”Hawks go 11-5 and don’t make the SB I’ll mail you $20. You’ll have to remind me later, but I’ll do it. I’m thinking at least four other guys on the board will too, so you’re in the black.

  16. Dukeshire says:

vic – No worries. Without getting too personal, yes, I feel a bit “lighter” these days.

If E wants to use them, I hope they contribute to this blog in a positive way. Truth be told, I’ll be doing it help me understand and learn more about tje Hawks. Maybe others will dig it too.

  17. BTW – 100 days left until games

  18. montanamike2 says:

It’s finally June! We’re getting closer.
Thanks raymaines that’s a generous offer but i’d never ask anyone for money that i lost on a bet, i would however; buy all the regulars on the blog pitchers of beer until all my money is gone if we met up for a SB party.

  19. sluggo42 says:

It’s a funny game of position and responsibility for gaps and coverage and such. Hearing why KJ will be able to play the Will, without the normal speed required for the position is a stark indicator of why Curry , who had the tool, couldn’t.
Half the requirements require a physical set, the other 90% requires grey matter, which Curry only had about 5%.

  20. princeaden says:

I would love to hear some first hand info on the health of Clemons and Carpenter. Why is it that we hear that RGIII is within reaching distance of starting the opener and Clemens is a projected PUP candidate? Has there been a set-back or is Griffin some sort of Superhero? Also, I would like to hear some thoughts on weather Stephan Williams has a legitimate shot at being that Joe Jervicious type that can go down the sideline and just go up and take the ball away from just about anybody?

  21. Duke, awesome to hear your plans for posting articles reviewing schemes and such. That’s the stuff many of us hardcores always want more of, and most of us are too lazy to do our own homework and write it all down. I’ll happily read more Xs and Os by another faithful 12th man! Cheers.

  22. bird_spit says:

montanamike – No reason to wait for a SB party, you should host a seahawk’s blog camp out. Any reason to get over to Montana: beer, good company and a few dips in the hot springs – I’m all in. I bet there would be plenty more folks that would be convinced to do it. We could get Eric to cover the story first hand on how a bunch of seahawk’s fans traded their anonymity in for a full blown party in Montana.

Evenings could be filled with dukeshire’s explanation of the defensive schemes..

Dude–i can see it now..seahawk nation with flags flying from the ATVs…out in the middle of gods country.

  23. Dukeshire says:

I would absolutely road trip to the Gallatin Valley for a Seahawk Insider jamboree. Among other things, it’s been years since I’ve been there and am overdue for a trip back.

  24. GeorgiaHawk says:

I think a TNT blog party in Montana would be a great!

A certain RB we all know happens to make it two times in this top ten list.

  25. Poor Elm tree, heh heh. That’s how you legalease your leak breaks. “Just watering the shrubbery your honor.”

You all mentioned last thread, about homefield advantage. This league is scared like you wouldn’t believe about having to come to our house come wintertime. It’s not just about being loud… it’s knowing when to get loud. Yes we get loud, yes we get hyped, but when it’s 4th down and inches, you feel us. Let’s do this.

  26. Dukeshire says:

Watching a replay of the Atl playoff game, and I forgot how poorly they played in the first half. Defense refused to wrap up and the offense (Sweezy in particular) was really ineffective. On the positive side, Miller made some wonderful catches.

    Second half up next…

  27. GeorgiaHawk says:

Yes, Miller really stepped it up in the playoffs. I can’t wait to see him take his good play into this season.

    More Wilson stuff.-

  28. I’m all for a get-together in Montana. I’ll even chip in for beer and brats. Even better than a Seattle meetup!

  29. Dukeshire says:

After now watching the second half a couple things: Seattle’s d played so well the second half. Despite what Bradley had to say, their scheme in coverage was so passive on Atl’s winning drive, unlike anything they played all game. That is on Bradley, not the players.

Also, Turbin really had some big plays. I’m very excited to watch his continued development.

Lastly, Im doubly excited.about Wright’s move to Will. I believe they become a stronger and more versatile defense with the switch. They loose speed at the position, but teams like Atl and SF that live on cut back / trap running will be have a much more difficult time. and there’s enough speed elsewhere to make up for it.

  31. FairbanksDoug says:

I personally would like to meet you all at the Super Bowl in San Francisco I two years. I would love to see multiple hang the 12th Man flags hang from balconys of whatever floor of one of their high rise hotels downtown that is taken over by the 12th Man. Well I do believe we have good chance to be in that game, I will be in one of those hotels with that flag hanging out for all of S.F. To see. When you see that you will know where to find me. I gotta also believe that the 49ers will be selling off what ever souls they have left to make that game. Think it will be tougher to beat them that year then this next.

  32. FairbanksDoug says:

Damn I hate posting with an iPad sometimes, a lot of errors on that hope the meaning gets through.

  33. GeorgiaHawk says:

I think if we are not now, we will be one of the most hated NFL teams. All that means to me is we are winning big!

  34. Ha! ‘Most hatted team”. Thanks Georgia, that’s good inspiration. Should be posted in the Seahawks locker room soon.

What a bunch of boneheads to hate a fun young team like the Seahawks, and an enthusiastic, upbeat coach like Pete Carroll. (But then, if I were a Redskins fan with a cranky coach like Shanahan and a meddling owner like Dan Snyder, I guess I’d be cranky too!)

  35. Seeing how hard its been for talented Mike Williams to keep a job in the NFL makes me wonder about our new draftee Chris Harper. Harper is 6’1 and something close to 230 pounds. He has a little too much in common with Williams, another big guy who uses his strength and positioning to make catches, able to out-muscle DBs in college, but one has to wonder if he’ll have the quicks to do that it in the NFL once DBs are going full-speed on him.

  36. sluggo42 says:

The Hawks are close to becoming the new Americas team. Not the most hated.

They win, so all the band wagoners all jump aboard, and they are young, so all the kids love Em, plus, we got the pipsqueak Qb, so all the underdogs love Em..

  37. Harper is not close to BMW. Williams is not and has never had the agility Harper possesses; and big as he is, Harper is leaner than BMW ever was; he doesn’t look as heavy as he is, as it’s all muscle. Also, Harper has far better technique than Williams. It remains to be seen if he’s a legit deep threat, but fro early reports, he’s much faster than BMW.

  38. JZombie says:

So are the Hawks signing Kenny Chesney?

  39. Dukeshire says:

No kidding, Chesney looked pretty good running around. Lol

  40. rramstad says:

Love the Redskins article. Let’s face it, if there was a team that bounced us from the playoffs the last three times we made it, we’d hate them too. 11-4 is a crazy good playoff record against any team. Represent!

  41. 11-4? What’s that?

  42. trout_hound says:

I’m in Montana (NW), so I’m definitely down for a get together. It’s gorgeous here right now and the fishing ain’t bad. Was just tslking to my nephew about which home game we want to try and find tickets for. . Thinking the SF game.

  43. 11-4 is the Redskins’ all-time winning record against the Seahawks. While the Seahawks have bounced the Redskins from the playoffs the last three times, the Skins have had some big wins against the Seahawks in the regular season. The most painful for me was the 29-0 pummeling in Steve Largent’s last game in the Kingdome — way back in 1989.

  44. montanamike2 says:

Guys i worked on the yard all day and then planted my squashes and peppers until sundown. I’m totally down with a visit and have a lodge across the street that’s on the Gallatin River! As trout_hound will tell you it was an beautiful day today weather wise and everything is lush, kind of like you guys on the coast had about 2 months ago. We’d have an awesome time, that’s a guarantee.

  45. montanamike2 says:

Oh yeah, the lodge belongs to my neighbor friend who i’m pretty tight with, so i got accommodations covered. Poor guy doesn’t like sports though and i have to have compassion for him. Doesn’t like sports!

  46. Dukeshire says:

Montana- I may just come for a visit regardless. I’ll take us to the Half Moon Saloon, drinks on me.

  47. montanamike2 says:

    Any time.

  48. bbnate420 says:

Harper seems like a poor mans’ Demaryius Thomas to me. Maybe it’s just because they are both 230 pounds and came from running programs in college where they didn’t get the ball thrown to them a lot. Demaryius is a couple of inches taller than Harper and ran a 4.38 hand timed 40 as opposed to a 4.45 hand timed 40 for Harper. I expect Harper to have an impact on offense in 2014.

  49. Trent Williams had better watch it or Moffitt will pee on him.

  50. HawkfaninMT says:

Any reports on how the rookies have been doing at OTAs? I’ve been reading bout RW and Harvin, Wagner and Winfield… How bout them rooks?

  51. SandpointHawk says:

My word, I take a day or two off to reformat some hardware and I miss the “Night of the Love Juice”…what in the hell were you folks drinking last night? Did you save me any? I haven’t read this many happy posts since BeastQuake….

  52. Dukeshire says:

Lol. Sand, You know how manic it can be around here, surely it can’t last.

  53. Ewalters7354 says:

If the hawks go to the Super Bowl, I’m willing to meet wherever if I’m not at the actual Super Bowl.My fiancee will get over it lol

  54. We’ll see STTBM –

When BMW came out of college, scouts and coaches across the NFL considered him a much greater talent then than they considered Harper this year.

Lots kool-aid being drunk these days.
