Here’s the Seattle Seahawks draft order by round for the 2013 draft in April. The Seahawks have an extra pick in the fifth round from the Aaron Curry trade with Oakland. And Seattle has two picks in the seventh round from trades with Buffalo for Tarvaris Jackson, and New Orleans for linebacker Barrett Ruud.
The spots after round 3 could change when compensatory picks are allocated, so I just listed the spot in each round after the third round Seattle is expected to draft in.
First round (1) – 25
Second round (1) – 56
Third round (1) – 87
Fourth round (1) – No. 26
Fifth round (2) – No. 5 (from Oakland) and No. 25
Sixth round (1) – No. 26
Seventh (3) – No. 8 (from Buffalo), No. 14 (from New Orleans) and No. 25

Love having extra 5th round picks. That’s the value bin for JS/PC where we can find starters for $350k a year.

I know I’m in the minority with this thinking, but I don’t think the Hawks are all that hot about trading Flynn. That isn’t to say I don’t think it will happen I just don’t think they are as adverse to keeping him as has been stated on here by many. Consider this:
1) his salary is not prohibitive
2) they consider him a good QB
3) Who is out there to replace him?
Do you really want to de-rail a super bowl run by having a rookie or crap back up? Injuries happen.
I really think this is more of a case of proffesional courtesy. Flynn was probably brought in with promises to start and he has been a good soldier when he didn’t, but make no mistake he still wants to start. I think the Hawks are willing to accomodate him IF the price is right.
IMHO I see them trading him draft day or immediatley after for a future pick (higher value) rather then to move up this year or get another low round pick this year. They have enough of those.
But once again it falls to who replaces your very good back up?

Man, it’s good to have two very-good QBs!!!! Anybody remember the ’11 season – how passionate we all were about who was the better QB, Clipboard or TJax (Portis)? Senneca Wallace outplayed all of them, and it was a ba year for him. By the way, after SW was cut in Aug by CLE last season, he worked out for GB and NO in Oct – did he retire or go to another league, or? If he was healthy and allowed to leave the pocket he might actually make a decent back-up to RW???

I really hope we can trade some of these picks for next year’s picks….And trade Flynn for Next year’s 1st or 2nd round pick.

According to ProFootballFocus stats, Senneca’s average overall performance (30th) for CLE in the ’11 season was better than both TJax (37th) and C.Whitehurst (57th) performances were for SEA that season.
What I was wondering was if SW might somehow be able to re-learn to play more like he did back in college – similar to how RW played for Bevel last season, than how he (SW) was forced to play more in the pocket for Holmgren? Probably not possible (old dog new tricks) and I remember how SW lost the ability (he once seemed to have in college) to make things happen when he scrambled, including sacking himself by running outta bounds with the ball instead of getting rid of it. But I also remember his play in ’07 which was even better than M.Hasselbeck’s which was very good that year.

I think it does make sense to trade Flynn this year. There’s more starting QB spots open than can be filled via FA, trade or draft, so his market value is as high as it’s going to be. PC gets guys into the organization with the promise to help them improve and get to the next level, something not available to Flynn in Seattle right now. Besides, you shouldn’t underestimate their confidence that they can develop another QB. Get what you can with Flynn and go looking for another QB to manufacture future draft picks.

I’m not sure it’s reasonable to compare statistically Jackson, who started all but 2 games in ’11, to Wallace and Whitehurst who combined for all of 5 starts that season.
But to the larger picture, I don’t think Wallace was asked to be a pocket passer under Holmgren or Mora. Part of Holmgren’s WCO (like Walsh) was moving the pocket, not simply a drop-back. Anyway…

PC made it abundantly clear MF was absolutly NOT promised a starting job when he signed on with the Seahawks. We all expected him to start, I suppose he expected to start, but he wasn’t promised any such thing.
