CB Byron Maxwell (hamstring), S Jeron Johnson (hamstring) and Marshawn Lynch (foot) did not practice again Thursday after all had missed Wednesday’s practice.
For the Falcons, CB Christopher Owens (hamstring) did not participate. Limited were S William Moore (hamstring), DE John Abraham (ankle) and S Charles Mitchell (calf)
Defensive coordinator Gus Bradley was asked about the Philadelphia Eagles’ interest in interviewing him as a head coach candidate. “It’s flattering (but) our entire focus is on Atlanta.” The Falcons’ receiving corps “is probably the most complete we’ve faced.” He added: “They’re a very disciplined team; they don’t make many mistakes or penalties.” Missing Chris Clemons will hurt, he said, “but the next guy’s up.”
Tidbits from the locker room.
I saw Jeremy Lane delivering bags of McDonalds burgers and fries to the cubicles of various defensive backs. I suspected that making a burger run was a rookie chore. No, he said, it was just his turn. Normally, it’s Richard Sherman getting the burgers. “He’s been eating them every day the last couple weeks and he’s playing so good we’re all eatin’ them,” Lane said. Keep in mind, they have gourmet quality food service upstairs — with Thursday’s entrée teriyaki salmon. Don’t professional athletes need to be concerned about healthy fuel? “He’s trying to put on some weight,” Lane said. Okay, and you? “I need to gain weight, too.”
Kam Chancellor has a stuffed bear in his locker. It’s like the in the movie “Ted.” He’s taken to posing it in various places around the headquarters and taking pictures.

Good locker room stuff Dave. I hope the stuffed bear will bring us good luck.
Hope this trend continues-

Dave, what’s up with Marshawn’s foot?
Those guys need to go watch Super-Size Me (or whatever that movie is called).

I just got the weirdest error from the blog:
“You are posting comments too quickly. Slow down.”
Strange…almost as strange as “Da Bear”

It probably is good, but I learned long ago to stay away from anything “fieldgulls.” They are good, but I despise their “opinionated” nature if you disagree with them (even if you’re right in the long run) they will, seemingly, want you to die and make no bones about what a moron they think you are.

i don’t post for that reason bobby. however take my word you want to read this . hugely in depth.

I wasn’t so concerned about the foot yesterday, but Marshawn not practicing for a 2nd day could be a big problem. Seattle’s going to need the running game to come up big on Sunday to keep Ryan off the field so they can’t get in synch.

Nate Silver predicts success..

RD – Marshawn has been getting days off for a long time this season.
hawkinOK – I believe you, but I’m so desentisized to them that I just can’t do it:)
mocarob – I’m okay with that as long as the Hawks beat the Pats.

Dave, There’s a reason Real Rob calls Sherman “Ringworm”… lol

you ought to go to the falcon’s version at sbn it’s funny as hell to read what their fans are saying one went as fat as to say the hawks played a weak schedule, lol*

game can’t get here soon enough…I sure hope they show up and jump on the falcons early. Need Wilson to play a little better like not overthrowing receivers….and the wr’s could help him by not dropping balls. This could be a high scoring game for us if we don’t stop ourselves. 1-6 in red zone this week probably won’t cut it. Go Hawks!!!!!

I think with Marshawn it’s mostly a matter of getting him some rest. Remember, he’s had 335 carries so far, and he’s gotten hit about 15 times every carry. As far as I can recall, there’s never really been an explanation regarding a foot injury. We’ve talked about his back, of course, but his days of rest have been listed on the injury report as a foot injury the last few weeks. I suspect he’s a little sore from putting this team on his back last week in D.C.
I also suspect he’s going to really be put to work again this week. That would be my game plan. The Redskins had the No. 5 rush defense in the league last week, and the Hawks pounded them for 224 yards on the ground. So, now they’re facing the No. 21 rush defense. Does that mean 300 rushing yards? I think you saddle up the Beast once again.
A concern I do share, though, is that it seems to me that the read-option action between Marshawn and Russell is a timing thing that requires practice. That’s a pretty delicate operation, and they bounced one off the hip last week that really could have cost them if Lynch hadn’t been so quick to the ball.

Dave, thanks for the insight. Yeah…I would give the ball to Marshawn every chance we get this weekend.
That hand-off last weekend was a typical look before you commit mistake by RW. He was looking downfield and not focused on the actual hand-off. Beast came through though and saved the day – he WAS paying attention. I know RW learned from that…that kid is so danged smart and aware, but he is still, after all, a rookie!
The Seahawks are so danged cool right now and I am so happy to be part of the 12. GO HAWKS!

I was looking back at draft grades this is what Nate Silver at USA Today had to say about the hawks draft. 26. Seattle Seahawks: GM John Schneider has made an early living mining gold in the mid-to-late rounds and free agency, and his choice of RB Robert Turbin in Round 4 looks like a score. Yet Schneider’s first three picks — Round 1 DE Bruce Irvin, Round 2 LB Bobby Wagner and Round QB Russell Wilson — have exposed him to immediate criticism . Hah!!!

At this point in the season, I have to trust PC’s decisions with practice time.

I know Sablfish it’s amazing that the top experts with really great hair and otherwise, all gave us a bad grade, as much as called us losers at last draft, boy is schnieder looking like a genius now or what, just waiting for next drafts comments, you know the big hair and the rest of the self proclaimed draft experts will not say jack as they will be afraid of chewing on their feet again lol I love it!!!
I can just hear em saying off camera ” what did Schneider think of that guy”

ok TJIB. How long do we have to hear about it.?

Manning(‘s), Brady, Breese and every other QB in the league make mistakes. RW makes mistakes. The other guys aren’t rookies. DoDo occurs, but RW doesn’t make ROOKIE mistakes.
Given his age and salary I’m not sure I’d trade RW for anybody. Granted that RW benefits by being in a particular system with particular coaches, etc., etc., but I’m not sure Luck or anybody else would make the Seahawks any better.

Not sure if this has been posted or seen from you guys, but it is a good read on Schneider.

I don’t think anyone is questioning Carroll’s allocation of practice time. By rather the severity of a newly reported injury to Lynch.

Duke, PLENTY of people questioned PC’s allocation of practice time regarding the QBs. Much less so since RW has been tearing it up. BobbyK just did earlier in this post. I’m not trying to argue the allocation, I’m just stating what has been argued in my view.
Is the USA Today Nate Silver the same statistician guy that predicts elections? I guess it doesn’t really matter. That Nate Silver that is the political statistician has been exceedingly accurate the last few election cycles, but that is FAR different from projecting sporting outcomes. Predicting election outcomes is about crunching the numbers as far as polls go. Sports contests aren’t won or lost on public opinion.
P.S. You’ll notice I didn’t take a political stand when referencing Nate Silver, so please don’t call me a hypocrite or inundate me with political BS regarding my mention of him.

To say someone is a bust is to think he would have been good in the first place. I knew from day one how bad he was. So, please, at least get the “bust” part correct.

And I do believe that if we had had 2 QBs getting the reps in training camp that we’d have had last week off and would be playing at home this weekend with a healthy Clem. The curse of Tardvaris continues…

Average age of starting lineups, ( not counting kickers/punters ) is 26 for the Seahawks and 29 for the Falcons.
Starting secondary- 25 for the Seahawks and 29 for the Falcons.
Starting cornerbacks- 26 for the Seahawks and 31 for the Falcons.
31 seems to be a rather old for corners. Perhaps we can take advantage of their age?

I think it’s kind of strange how everyone loves Clemons now. I don’t care enough to go back and quote people, but I know there were a number of people ready to get rid of him in the summer when he wanted a new contract. Strange!

BTW not sure if the Nate Silver quoted in USA Today is the same guy, but yes, the Nate Silver that predicts political contests actually started out doing a lot of stats crunching for baseball, his first love, and he’s probably done as much as anyone to influence and certify “Moneyball” type techniques in other sports…
