Even though the Seattle Seahawks do not face the Washington Redskins every year, there still is some animosity between the two teams.

Specifically, Seattle fullback Michael Robinson and Washington cornerback DeAngelo Hall likely will not be sitting down to dinner together anytime soon.

The two were at the center of a minor scrum that erupted during the coin toss the last time the two teams met at CenturyLink Field, a 23-17 Redskins victory on Nov. 27 of last year.

Robinson and Hall both hale from Virginia.

The two jawed at midfield before the coin flip, and the war of words eventually escalated to some pushing and shoving, with coaches on both teams having to get involved to calm the players down.

Check out the video below. The war of words begins about five minutes in.

“We were just competing, and words were said,” Robinson said after the game. “I think it was a little different because it’s another guy from Virginia, stuff like that. It’s definitely out of character. I want to apologize to my teammates and all of the Seahawks fans, stuff like that.”

Asked at the time if it was something personal that escalated, Robinson said about Hall: “No, he’s garbage, man.”

Asked today if things had been smoothed over between the two, Robinson said, “Nope. You trying to egg me on? Yeah, I’m looking forward to this Sunday to see him.”

Apparently, Hall hasn’t forgotten the incident either.

“We’re going to have our hands full with those guys and it’s going to be physical and tough,” Hall said in an interview with 106.7 the Fan in Washington D.C. “I can remember going up there last year and almost fighting at the coin toss so they don’t like us and we don’t like them. It’s going to be a heck of a game.”

  1. Hall is a dope.

  2. London Fletcher is to defense what Russell Wilson is to offense.

I hope the Seahawk players don’t get baited into personal fouls.

What rookie QB will most likely win this weekend?

  4. Vegas56 says:

Two somewhat surprising playoff teams, with plenty of young players only a year or so out of college…both on a major league roll coming into the game. Yeah, there’s going to be some extracurricular activity on that field.

    Nice link Georgia.

My biggest concern will be the coaching. Will they become extremely conservative? They seemed to do that against the Rams. Probably because Wilson threw three picks the first time we played them. I just hope they don’t get to hyped about this game to the point that we get behind and Wilson has to play a different game to catch up.

  6. Dukeshire says:

Atta kid Real Rob!! I never actually saw footage of that before, just reading about it. Also, the girl out there for the coin toss… what an awesome story she got. And, she was right on Robinson’s right shoulder as they began jawing for real. lol. Awesome.

  7. you can tell it’s hall that starts the jawing. I wouldn’t want to tangle with real rob . . .

  8. MattandCindy says:

Hawkfan – The play calling on offense especially was way conservative, but I think it had more to do with not over-extending and trying to keep everyone as healthy as possible while also competing to win. If we can do that, meaning win on half-cylinders, then we’re gonna get nuts when it truly matters.

  9. Vegas56 says:

LOL that girl out there is a hoot. Man, she reads it and starts backing away. She comes back when it is down to one on one for the flip. I think there are plenty of ‘Hawk players that will remember that for this week.

  10. sluggo42 says:

I want rob to catch one of his little swing passes, and then Hall is the only think between him and the end zone… And then Rob concusses him… muahahahahaha!!

I’m not too worried about Seattle losing its cool. Against the 49ers at home, the 49ers were trying to instigate play after play. Seattle remained relatively cool, and the 49ers boiled themselves and blew their kettle.

That’s what I hope happens here. I didn’t remember the bad blood at the last Seattle/Redskins game. Seems like the Redskins remember it better.

  12. ryanryan says:

The picture above says it all, there’s Hall standing behind everyone with his mouth open…i REALLY want this win for the guys.

I have been telling my friends for a couple of weeks when this game became a strong possibility that I couldn’t wait for the hawks to make RG3 look pedestrian and RW to shine so that when RG3 gets his ROY trophy (the votes were in before this game) I could laugh at the sham.

  13. NYHawkFan says:

Redskins will definitely remember what happened last year because Hall won’t let them forget it. Also, we’re playing in their “house” this time, so they’ll use what happened to help motivate them. Like freedom_X said about the 49ers, though, their motivational “head” games will all be forgotten once the Hawks give them a few “Sherman Tatoos.” Ask Vernon Davis about that. The skins won’t necessarily fold, but they’re in for a brusin’ and they’ll know that the Hawks were in town.

The Hawks will win because they’re a more rounded, complete team. Also, Wilson has proven that he’s a bona fide team leader. Last week when he sacrificed a personal record by running for a TD rather than throwing for it showed me a lot. Also, remember that play when he ran downfield and blocked, in fact, leveled a defensive back? How many NFL quarterbacks are willing to do that? I don’t think it will be a blow out, but it will be a hard-fought win. Hawks 20-17.

  14. GeorgiaRay says:

Living in Georgia and watching Hall for a few years…He was one of Mike Smith’s first casualties mainly because he’s a punk arss douche…

  15. ryanryan says:

my only real concern with this game for the offense is that off coverage that they play coupled with the pressure they are sure to bring it will be interesting to see if wilson and hall’s quickness to the ball once thrown will cause interceptions. our receivers will need to position their bodies well and fight for the ball…thankfully this is a strength for both rice and tate – just ask aaron rodgers ;)

  16. HeatherHawk says:

Saw an article on the Washington Post and it sounds like the argument started because Michael Robinson was mad at Hall for dropping f-bombs in front of the little girl out there. And then Hall got pissed at being challenged about his potty mouth. I went to my first game of the season last week (so awesome) and noted that it was Michael Robinson who gave the “keep your language PG-13″ friendly service announcement.
