I imagine these announcements will start to trickle out as we get closer to the 4 p.m. unveiling of this year’s Pro Bowl team. But according to agent Peter Schaffer, Seattle Seahawks offensive tackle Russell Okung has been named as a starter on this year’s team in his third season.
Congratulations Russell.
The Hits keep coming - Russell Okung Seahawks named starter in Pro Bowl We have 2 starting P B left tackles. What a rewarding & great day.

Also, according to Albert Breer of the NFL Network, cornerback Richard Sherman has surprisingly been left off the Pro Bowl roster. Breer said it had nothing to do with Sherman’s pending appeal. Headed out to practice.
Richard Sherman did not make the Pro Bowl, per sources, but I'm told the PED rules are not relevant in this case.

Wow. Sherm should be an all pro. Best all around season for a corner I’ve ever witnessed

Definitely great news for Okung, a lot of talk early on in his career about him being a bust because of the injuries. Patience paid off.
Bummer about Sherman though.

It’s for morons… I love Okung… but many of us know he’s not he best player on the team… There are a few DBs we all know are better at what they do than he is at what he does…

Sherman left off has nothing to do with the pending appeal? That sounds like a complete load of garbage! He should have been a lock and then they could declare him ineligible if the appeal is denied.

Okung started the season badly, but I think he’s picked it up during the second half, is it pro bowl worthy? probably not, but hey the more Seahawks getting a trip to Hawaii the better. Sherman not getting in is a travesty, he should clearly be in it, possible suspension or not, he is the best corner in football right now.

What a joke. The chip on Sherm’s shoulder is getting bigger every day.
× Flag comment
Yeah that’s my initial thought too, dude is getting even more fuel to add to his fire, which can only be a good thing for the team.

Sorry for the language. But this is complete bull shit! Sherm is the best corner in the league and gets snubbed? Wow, just wow.Happy for Okung though

RG3 makes it though he missed two games and didn’t finish another smh.Boy oh boy.I just hope this teams wins a Super Bowl this year so all these idiots can get a major slap in the face.

Welp, I guess Sherm will just have to further break records to get recognition. Like someone said, his chip will just get bigger and our team will benefit hahah. That’s right NFL, keep snubbing our players, they’ll just get more dangerous every year.

Okung is having his best year and has faced the top D ends every week. He has only given up one sack so far. That is very impressive when you consider he has faced Ware, Mathews, Jared Allen, Aldon Smith(twice), Peppers and so on. He is the best lineman we have and is playing his best ball on the line. He’s not competing against any of our players on defense for a spot. He doesn’t need to be the best player on the team. Just one of the best on offense. While I agree Sherman not making it is ridiculous, we should be pretty encouraged we have another left tackle in the pro bowl finally. It’s been awhile.

Okung missed the Cowboys game.

Wow – I love it.. Damn I love it… Sherman with more drive?!? Ha ha ha I feel sorry for opposing QB/WR next year.

I don’t want any Seahawk to ever get any awards. No ROY, no Pro Bowl, no nothing. Just a string of Super Bowl wins and the HOF after they retire. Their agent will just use the awards to leverage a bigger contract and we’ll loose them to another team or it will screw up the salary cap. No awards! Never! Bah Humbug!
Go Seahawks. Lamb stew for Sunday dinner.

Okung has missed one game.Forgot about that I’m surprised he even got recognition being that all other stars except ET gets snubbed on a consistent basis.

Sherman not making it is a travesty. I’d like to know which NFC corners did make it.

Cornerback: Charles Tillman, Tim Jennings, Patrick Peterson
No, Richard Sherman didn’t make the team. Yes, that’s insane. No, it didn’t officially have to do with his potential pending suspension. Unofficially, it couldn’t have helped Sherman. Tillman and Jennings were both outstanding this year for Chicago. Peterson was more up and down. Cortland Finnegan also had a nice year for the Rams.

Charles Tillman, Tim Jennings, Patrick Peterson. Those are the CBs selected over Sherman? Really?
× Flag comment
One defender makes it from the defense that is number one in the league in points allowed and 4th in yards allowed? Huh . . .
× Flag comment
Have to say, Jennings is having a hell of a year. That’s deserved IMO.
× Flag comment
I can see Tillman beating out Sherman. He has had a good year. But statistically (Tackles, Sacks, INTs, and Pass-Defended), Sherman is almost exactly even with Jennings. And by that same measure, Sherm is way ahead of Peterson. What a joke.
× Flag comment
just read this on twitter. Sherman 45.6 passer rating against. Best in NFL. Only other corner under 50 is Tim Jennings at 49.7. Basically QBs have the worst passing rating when throwing in Sherman’s direction.

posted this already in the wrong forum, but worth posting here I think…
it took Russell Okung until his third year in the league to stay healthy for 16 games and to become the player we believed we were drafting in 2010.
I hope people remember this when they diss rookies or second-year players for being busts. It often takes about three years in the NFL before a player truly arrives.
