Seahawks 50, Bills 17 — rocked them Gagnum Style

Shhh... if you listen closely you can hear your 15 minutes expiring.

Of course, I referenced what might be the single worst song that’s being played since “Call Me Maybe” or “Who Let the Dogs Out” or “Macarena” or “Ice, Ice Baby.” That might have been the only bad part of the game today. The Seahawks were outstanding. Russell Wilson was amazing and they didn’t run the score up on the Bills, no matter what Herm Edwards thinks.

Let’s get to it …

1. The Seahawks are sitting at 9-5 following two huge blowout wins …. be honest, did you expect them to be this good this season? Why or why not?

2. So the fake punt … up 30 … um, well, yeah … your thoughts?

3. Game ball goes to …

4. There was some debate on the chat, but what are your thoughts on the Seahawks defense as a whole.

5. Predictions for tonight’s Niners-Patriots game.

    Um well OK maybe not,

maybe a little tiny bit disappointing but I’ll take it, and

I’m really hoping for the Pat’s but I think it’s going to the 49ers.

  2. SandpointHawk says:

    Beyond my wildest dreams….

  3. Hammajamma says:

I would probably be bothered by the fake punt if it wasn’t such an intersting design.

On defense it looked like they got burned by staying base against multiple receiver sets and had LB’s too often playing man coverage on wide outs. I wasn’t watching that closely. Their intermediate zone coverage is too easily solved without good pressure. Good to see a little pass rush, but its still little.

Game ball goes to RW for legging out three TD’s.

  4. Dukeshire says:

I’m totally numb and blown away. Wow.

The fake punt…? Well, let’s just say I’d rather be on this side of it than have it happen to Seattle, because I’d be pissed.

    Let’s go Pats!!

  5. MoSeahawk12 says:

    1. The Seahawks are sitting at 9-5 following two huge blowout wins …. be honest, did you expect them to be this good this season? Why or why not?
This is unprecedented as a lifelong Seahawks fan. The point total is crazy.

    2. So the fake punt … up 30 … um, well, yeah … your thoughts? Why not? Let the next few team you are playing waste time at practice preparing for the possibility that we run trick plays.

    3. Game ball goes to …Russel Wilson without a doubt. He was laser focused and his dominance was impressive. The Bills didn’t know what hit them. He was playing with his food out there.

    4. There was some debate on the chat, but what are your thoughts on the Seahawks defense as a whole. The defense seems a little off and not as strong as they’ll need to be when it gets to playoff time. They are missing some key guys though. I thought Sherman had one of his worst games of the season.

    5. Predictions for tonight’s Niners-Patriots game. Go Patriots!! Go Patriots!!! Go Patriots!!! Win by 1 or win by 21, just win. I want next weeks game to be for the division.

  6. dupreegreg says:

This team is really scary,But they have played two so-so teams. they must now face the niners next Sunday after they beat new england tonight. The niners are a total different animal.Go niners.

  7. If the 49ers can win tonight’s game they deserve to win the division and possibly get the bye.

  8. Woop Woop Wilson Style!

  9. Dukeshire says:

Yes, the team that wins the most games does indeed deserve to win the division…

  10. ChrisHolmes says:

  11. MoSeahawk12 says:

Tom Brady at home in December is a totally different animal. Niners lost to the Rams and will be tested big tonight. I for one want to see the Niners lose and the NFC West division title up for grabs next week in Seattle. The Seahawks trashed two weaker opponents. This is what good teams do. They also game back with two long drives on the road against the at the time division leading Bears to win in OT. 9er’s don’t get a free pass this year.

  12. bsinnitt says:

What a dramatic turn around on offense. After the Miami game I was hoping for a wild card spot to get our young team some playoff experience. If the Pats win tonight I don’t think another NFC championship/super bowl is out of the question. I’ll try not to put the cart before the horse but it’s like a switch was flipped in the 4th qtr. of the bears game. Our championship window is officially open. I hope we play the Packers along the way to squash the all the whine coming from those cheeseheads.

  13. no way in hell the niners beat the patriots tonight. not with kaepernick at qb. he will be overwhelmed and his inexperience will show through when the pressure clamps down.

  14. bsinnitt says:

P.S. I clicked a few ads prior to posting. Thanks to those responsible for preventing the pay for blog access.

  15. sluggo42 says:

The chat got a little catty today,
I actually am not surprised, as I talked often about getting the upper hand on time of possession. They have totally smacked down two weak teams as they should have.

The fake punt almost got my ass kicked at the bar… Too funny

Game ball to oline for me. They make it all happen.

I think they played a totally vanilla defense, saving it all for sf next week.

Patriots will roll the niners, and expose their weaknesses for us..

My phone was not letting me scroll during the game, so I missed all the chat crap. Seems when we suck we get suck chat, and when we blow them out we get suck chat… Kinda glad I couldn’t keep up

    Go pats!!!

  16. CDHawkFan says:

Super happy for the W, more so for the ease of a win on the road. Not sure why but I really can’t stop thinking about how good the record could be right now if not for a few plays in all the losses.

I really wished Bradley would have changed a few things when we were up big to go way from the typical prevent D. Wish we would have seen more blitzing or different personnel packages as it really was scrimmage time for most of the 3rd and all of the 4th. The way they were still able to move the ball causes some worry, no real pressure until the game was out of reach. I don’t think the #1 issue from last year is all that much better this year. We probably have more sacks, but there are times when we get nothing on the QB.

Agree, if San Fran can come in next week and win, then they deserve it. I would completely accept going on the road in the playoffs and taking our chances there if San Fran wins both games against the Hawks this year.

9 – 5 with 2 games at home feels pretty good.

  17. Dukeshire says:

Seattle getting love from NBC Football Night in America.

  18. CDHawkFan says:

Another thing, why didn’t they save the fake punt for the 49ers game or playoffs? Seemed to wasted it there up 20+.

  19. Why wouldn’t they? The Seahawks have Russell Wilson.

  20. thursday says:

“it’s the big boy league” the guy on fox just said. i agree with him.

  21. dirtbiker_joey says:

NBC just wants everybody to tune in next week for their Sunday Night Game. Of course they’re getting love.

  22. BeerDrinkingFool says:

    1. Never expected this after the Detroit game. After that game, I thought we’d be lucky to make the playoffs. The last two games the offense has been clicking on all cylinders, and, more importantly, we’ve created turnovers. This defense is clearly top 10 in the league but turnovers have been lacking most of the season.

    2. Fake punt was a bit much. Especially since poor Canadian Jon Ryan hadn’t gotten a chance to punt yet. Let the man get some playtime in his home country! Lol!

    3. Has to be Wilson. He was precise and methodical. He probably should have had another TD pass when he overthrew a wide open Michael Robinson in the end zone though. And oh by the way, he still has a chance to break the rookie record for TD passes.

    4. I think the defense is playing conservative lately considering how well the offense is playing. Clemons showed up today for the first time in awhile, which is nice. Sherman didn’t look great today. But overall, I think the defense is good enough to make a decent run in the playoffs.

    5. Pats 27, Niners 20.

  23. First winning record in 5 years folks.

  24. EastCoastFan51 says:

go PATS! Pete has this team peaking at the right time…yes these two past games were against average teams but the 49ers are not unbeatable and the Pats will put them in their place tonight…my only worry is the 49ers haven’t lost two games in a row this season.

  25. EastCoastFan51 says:

go PATS! These past two games were against average teams but we manhandled them….lets not forget the niners.are not unbeatable and they will be exposed by the pats tonight. I will enjoy the butt whoopin next sunday for the division. go PATS!!!

  26. I can’t figure out if we are really good or the Cards and Bills are really bad. Somewhere in between I guess.

At the start of the game, one of those talking heads called the Seattle offense “high octane”. I about fell off the couch. Nobody would have made that statement 6 weeks ago. What a turn around that Pete now is relying on high scoring offense rather than defense to win games. But with a weapon like RW, only an idiot wouldn’t.

    Game ball goes to RW.

  27. guywhothinksheknowsitall says:

    1. The Seahawks are sitting at 9-5 following two huge blowout wins …. be honest, did you expect them to be this good this season? Why or why not?
Never even considered that they would be able to put up 50 points ever, definetly not twice in a row.
    2. So the fake punt … up 30 … um, well, yeah … your thoughts?
Didn’t really like doing that in the situation, but it does give other teams something to think about.
    3. Game ball goes to …
    RW3, 4TDs and almost 100 rushing yards.
    4. There was some debate on the chat, but what are your thoughts on the Seahawks defense as a whole.
The 1st half was disapointing, but 0 points allowed in the 2nd half gave them the boost they needed going into next week. Sure hope Sherman is available, and if Thurmond can make it back that will help prevent the 49ers from getting the momentum the Bills had for a while today.
    5. Predictions for tonight’s Niners-Patriots game.
    Patriots 31-21

    Read more here:

  28. Classic ESPN Bias…. nothing about the Hawks except the score! I’m so tired of our biased media overall…

  29. Ewalters7354 says:

This is gonna be a great game! Let’s go Pats.Run up the score!

  30. Same as always…let’s not get too high on this win. Enjoy it tonight and pray for a little help from the Pats tonight. Then tomorrow let’s get right back to work for the 49ers next Sunday.

Need to keep the momentum going right into the playoffs and be damned whether it’s on the road or at home.

That said…defense is still a little shaky imo. We weren’t very assignment sound today, especially in the edge containment of the run defense. And the middle pass defense has been fair at best all season.

  31. 1. The Seahawks are sitting at 9-5 following two huge blowout wins …. be honest, did you expect them to be this good this season? Why or why not?

No. I admit it, I am now officially on the PC bandwagon. I am eating crow. The Superbowl even seems realistic (more likely next season, but not impossible this year).

    2. So the fake punt … up 30 … um, well, yeah … your thoughts?
-: we may get payback some day. We also gave away a trick play. +: The players are learning about winning.

    3. Game ball goes to …

    4. There was some debate on the chat, but what are your thoughts on the Seahawks defense as a whole.
    Improving. Needs more depth.

    5. Predictions for tonight’s Niners-Patriots game.

  32. bbnate420 says:

This is just awesome. I love this team. I like to keep realistic, but I couldn’t have expected much more this year. You still want to say Luck is better than Wilson, BobbyK? It’s okay if you do. The stats became more lopsided in RW’s favor. And they have the same team record, while RW played a tougher schedule. Luck may turn out to be the better player 2-4 years down the road, but I don’t think he’s that now.

  33. Brady – 5 INTs on the year, 4 against the NFC West

  34. I think it was important that the players keep playing hard through the third and fourth quarters to keep running plays and learning from them. There won’t be any third and fourth quarter off vs. Niners next week or Rams week after. I was fine with the fake punt. It’s not about running up the score. It’s about practicing keeping drives alive. Agree that it adds a trick play for SF to game plan against, but there are others where that came from.

  35. Dukeshire says:

Touche on your own fake punt, Harbaugh.

Bobby has stated multiple times, in multiple threads, how much he likes Wilson. Why is it necessary to bring his views on Luck into this? Weird

  36. bbnate420 says:

What a difference 3 weeks can make? Go back and read some posts. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter. All Hawks fans on deck. I think it’s almost guaranteed that they make the playoffs if they finish 1-1. And it should be beneficial this time. Unlike in 2010, when I thought they actually hurt the franchise a little long term. This time, we have a large number of young players that should stay here and learn from the experience.

  37. Dukeshire says:

NE sure picked a hell of a time to play like donkeys. Let’s go, Pats.

  38. MoSeahawk12 says:

The Patriots are just laying down tonight. What a joke. Brady’s already bitching his guys out. I was hopeful they would make it a game. 9er’s owning this game so far.

  39. Dukeshire says:

I don’t doubt for one moment that the 2010 playoff experience helped young players like Thomas, Okung, Thurmond, Tate, and Chancellor and how that experience will help them help the other young players they now have.

  40. Dukeshire says:

Pats starting to play better now.

  41. Alaskayakker says:

Somebody below said Sherman had a bad game……I guess I watched a different game.

Play them one game at a time and stay cool.

  42. Great win. I wanted them to score more..
Ryan, Why are always so damn sarcastic and glib with your post game headlines? You’re just holding down the fort while Eric catches a plane right?

  43. I hope the Hawks can start getting some pressure/sacks earlier in the games, especially against the 9ers and especially with their front 4. They can’t afford to blitz much against them, because they are dangerous and Kap likes to throw deep. 9ers O-line is very good in all phases, so i hope the hawks can get something going early against them defensively

  44. Kaepernick and Russell Wilson – the last 2 QBs who lit up the supposed best team in the NFL.

  45. RDPoulsbo says:

In high school as a wrestler, I got destroyed 3 years in a row by the son of a 2 time Olympic gold medalist. There were times I knew he was toying with me, but it was always on me to not let that happen. I only mention this because I always wanted him to do his best against me even if I was going to be destroyed. It’s what I signed up for in the first place.

IMO, I’ve always felt the ultimate insult in sports is to have your opponent show you mercy. This isn’t life and death, it’s competing to measure yourself against the best. I’ve always wondered why people question running up the score. Sometimes I think people forget what humiliation is to athletes who compete.

  46. You didn’t like the Gagnum Style reference?

  47. guywhothinksheknowsitall says:

I wouldn’t say Sherman has a bad game, but he did get beat a couple of times. Alot of people under estimate Stevie Johnson. He is under under the radar because of the team he plays on, but is as good as any WR in the NFL, so I won’t hold it against Sherman for giving up a couple of plays. Also remember that Sherman was shadowing Johnson, which had him playing the opposite side of the field from where is normally plays, so that can make a big difference in a CBs instincts.

  48. Dukeshire says:

pabuwal – I presume you are referring to the Pats. Sanchez and Fitzpatrick each threw for over 300 yards on them. I think that qualifies as lighting someone up.

  49. seatowntp says:

I live in Western Mass and absolutely HATE the Patsies. Being a Seahawks fan since the team’s inception, I hate the 9ers and want the the Hawks to win The West and host a playoff game at C-link. If there was only a way both the Patsies and the 9ers could lose. Not tie. LOSE!

  50. 1. It’s starting to feel like 1986 again. At least this time we’re set to make the play-offs, instead of being the hottest team in the league and failing to make it. It’s exciting.

    2. How would we feel if it was done to us?

    3. When you score that many points (again) in that many different ways, it hard to hand out a game ball to one player. But if I have to, I’d say that our leader should get it (#3). The way he ran today is really going to open his passing lanes up in the coming weeks because teams are going to have to be even more concerned about him taking off. I like it.

    4. The defense is okay. It doesn’t suck. It’s just not what we thought it was early in the year.

    5. I predict the 49ers will lead 14-3 late in the first half.

nate – Why be an unprovoked ass out of the blue? Luck has thrown for well over 1,000 more yards than Wilson and his team has won 7 more games than they did last year and Wilson’s has only won 2 more than last year. Is there any wonder why I think Luck is the rookie of the year? Just because Hasselbeck was my favorite player for a long time never meant that I thought he was better than Brady or Manning. I would love to get to the point where I think Wilson is better than Luck, but I’m not there yet. But that doesn’t mean I like Luck better than Wilson because Wilson is now my 3rd favorite player in the NFL (he’s still got Hasselbeck and Rice in front of him).

  51. The dream of a bye ended today and the dream of a division title is on life support. If this holds up and the Seahawks win next week, the Seahawks would probably travel to Washington in the first round of the playoffs.

  52. DanielleMND says:

Pete explained the fake punt. It was in the game plan that if the Bills gave a certain look on a 4th down punting situation, the fake was on. Pete said it was his bad in not taking that option out at that point in the game.

  53. Good lord, i sure hope the hawks dont get abused on the screen play all game next sunday. No defense should give up a first down on 3rd and 15 like the pats just did. Be ready boys, this team is gooooood

  54. As of this point, the 49ers are putting on the most impressive defensive performance of the year. Hopefully they find it in themselves to collapse here.

  55. Dukeshire says:

Pats taking a nice, big turd on the Seahawk’s division title hopes.

  56. Dukeshire says:

Let’s not get too hyperbolic here. This game is more about the Pats failure to execute (dropped passes, fumbles, penalties) than it is the 49ers great defense.

  57. sluggo42 says:

All bounces going the niners way tonite, like they did for us against az.. It just ain’t the pats night.. Pret much over now.
Takes a lot of the drama away from next week

  58. I didn’t think defensive performances like this were possible in today’s NFL. Maybe things can start to pick up. This will be greater than the legend of Russell Wilson.

  59. Dukeshire says:

The Pats are hurting themselves far more than anything the 9ers are doing.

  60. J_McLeod says:

Haven’t seen anything ACIB’s brilliant mind in a few weeks.

  61. Boy, was i ever wrong about kap and the niners choking. More like the patriots choking in the spotlight. Wishful thinking, I guess. I hate the niners as much as the next guy, but I will give respect where it’s due: this is one of the more impressive wins of the year.
To go into their house in December when Brady never loses and demolish them? Un-freakin-believable.
Granted, the conditions are a bit tricky, but NE running backs have butter fingers tonight. Just reminds you that they are very young at certain positions.
Regardless, next week’s game at the CLink is gonne be epic.
Best game of the year, between maybe the 2 best teams in the NFL?

  62. The 49ers are vulnerable at QB and RBI (Gore is at an age that injuries and wear n’ tear start creeping up). Other than that they are world-class…and that defense is what we hoped the Hawks would become, before the injuries cropped up. But the Hawks are red hot and there could be a drop off for the Niners after the big win tonight. It does make the division look unattainable, which means a road game…but we are playing better on the road lately.

  63. DanielleMND says:

BobbyK, if it was done to us, the national media wouldn’t make an issue out of it.

  64. raymaines says:

Can you imagine the mass anguish in Northern California if the 9’ers blow a big early lead and loose in OT to Arizona in week 17? Fat chance I know, but wouldn’t it be sweet.

  65. The 9ner’s are sure putting the hurt on NE right now. How many ways can NE make then look good?!?!?!? Part of it is good SF play but come on!!

Right now, tonight, SF looks primed to make another SB run – They will host the title game since I think Atlanta will find a way to kick a game in the play-offs.

Now we are just going to have to win out and keep the #5 spot. (not as much on the bubble that way) I will have to look at who we want to win/lose next week to clinch if possible. Big question is – if we win and clinch next week – do we “rest” people vs the Rams??

  66. They won’t lose to Arizona but they might still be able to blow this lead.

  67. GeorgiaHawk says:

“unprovoked ass out of the blue?”

Big words for someone who very recently couldn’t even mention Wilson in a sentence with out having Flynns name in it. Lol.
I think it’s safe to say Wilson is ahead of the chosen one in the rookie of the year race. The only real question here is will he win it over RG3?
I actually like Cousins better than RG3, ( the new Hasselbeck ).

  68. why should Luck be rookie of the year again? because he is the most-hyped? I’m not buying it.

  69. This has to be a Brady sneak here in 4th and goal.

  70. I actually wanted the Texans to win last week, so Brady would come out pissed off this week and play lights out. Didn’t turn out that way.
Well, Niners are probably not going to lose to the Cards at home, but anything is possible, so the division is still in play regardless of tonight’s outcome. I’ll still be very happy if we make the playoffs, which seems like a lock if we get to at least 10 wins by beating SF and/or St Louis.

  71. We got a game folks.

  72. Palerydr says:

Well that was a nice throw and now Brady gets the ball back….

  73. Palerydr says:

Might mo seems to have swung back to the home town squad

  74. The point thing bigger than the Legend of Russell Wilson would be a 49ers collapse here.

  75. The only thing bigger. …

  76. What do you mean out of the blue – it’s been that way all year for 2 guys on here –

I think RG3 all but has it wrapped up – he is the media darling – gets 85% or more of all the national coverage. I personally would think that Cousins, in his first start, tearing up the browns, who have been playing well for a win should hurt the RG3 cause – shows that the team is MUCH improved, even without RG3.

The media will talk about WINS and team improvement, because they ALWAYS do when the talk about QB’s and that helps Luck. But ultimately I think it will go to RG3, and Wilson, Luck are in a very close battle for #2 in votes. I think a case could go either way but Wilson lives to close to Siberia to get too many votes

  77. Palerydr says:

SF defense looking a bit confused right now sure hope Pete is paying attention to what the Pats are doing right now. Seems to me that Miller/McCoy should be due for a big game next week.

  78. Dukeshire says:

Lol. I guess the best defensive performance of the year looks a bit different when the Pats actually hang on the the ball.

GeorgiaHawk – Bobby never took a shot at Nate, that’s what makes his ridiculous calling out of Bobby “unprovoked”. Moreover, Bobby’s been solidly in Wilson’s corner for some time now.

  79. This might actually happen.

  80. Dukeshire says:

One score game now. Come on…

  81. Pats – Niners becoming a great game! 1 TD apart!!! Go Brady! (never thought I’d say that)

  82. sluggo42 says:

Pans, it’s coming, the pats are coming back!

  83. Palerydr says:

SF D looks tired they only play 12 guys the majority of games. Man come on Pats (echo stevos comment) LOL

  84. The Defense has to actually step up for NE – when HAVE to force another SF punt – then see what happens

  85. bbnate420 says:

CCVI, don’t come in here with facts! We all know that facts are biased by reality! ;-)

Duke, Read back a few threads. That’s why I brought it up. Not to make it a fight. We all want the best for the Hawks. I just completely disagree with his position of Luck being the better QB right now.

Bobby, your logic is really shaky. So, the Hawks were 2-14 in 1992 and 6-10 in 1993. That means Mirer was worth 4 extra wins? How about Hasselbeck from 2007 to 2009? He was responsible for 5 less wins in 2009? Your logic is flawed. It’s a team game. I’m not saying that Luck sucks, but you made it out like it was OBVIOUS that he was better than RW earlier. That’s my point.

  86. Dukeshire says:

Wilfork is a beast. Damn I’d love Seattle to have that kind of interior presence.

  87. bbnate420 says:

    *Sorry, I meant Stevos.

  88. NE stepping up or SF falling apart?!?!

  89. agreed, nate, facts have no place here. ;-)

  90. Dukeshire says:

Both. But NE has been able to move the ball all game, they really hurt themselves with drops, turnovers, and penalties in the first half.

  91. Come on Deion Branch..

  92. SF offense is coming apart in the rain in Foxboro. Bu-Yah!

  93. Palerydr says:

I think that it’s a combination of both and now Brady gets the ball with 10 mns

  94. sluggo42 says:

    Lol, cheering for branch…

  95. Palerydr says:

You’re right Duke without 4 NE turnovers this game looks quite a bit different IMO

  96. bbnate420 says:

Duke and the like, I didn’t, “take a shot.” I just disagreed with a fairly recent opinion of his. I NEVER said he was hating on RW. He did intimate that if you watched the games that it was obvious that Luck was better and you were probably a homer if you thought different. I already said that I thought RG3 should get ROY before this week. so it’s not just about RW love. I have been one of the more reserved posters about the QB battle IMO. Twist it if you must.

  97. bulldog80 says:

Brady is reminding us that HE is still the best QB in the league right now.

  98. The Seahawks looked like they were going to draft Wilfolk until the Patriots traded up to jump ahead of them. They ended up with Marcus Tubbs instead.

  99. sluggo42 says:

    Quit dropping the damn ball!

  100. Palerydr says:

    YES! nice catch

  101. Pats in the midst of clawing their way back into this game. We may yet be able to control our destiny in terms of the division and playoffs. With Brady at qb, 10 min is an eternity. Go Brandon Lloyd!

  102. sluggo42 says:

    This game is getting good!

  103. Dukeshire says:

Nate – Fair enough. Wasn’t aware there was a recent history between you two.

  104. SF is coming apart… in preparation for being Taken Apart next week.

  105. Palerydr says:

Justin Smith inj? this game just keeps getting better

  106. WOW hear we go!!! New game with 3:13 left

  107. Dukeshire says:

Awesome comeback. Division might be back on!

  108. Bigger than the Legend of Russell Wilson folks.

  109. sluggo42 says:

This is a perfect example of why you never let up, just continue to pile it in. Things can turn fast in the nfl

  110. GeorgiaHawk says:

Dukeshire- I don’t think nate was calling out BobbyK by saying-
“You still want to say Luck is better than Wilson, BobbyK? It’s okay if you do.”
because BobbyK goes on to say why he thinks Luck is better.

Who was calling who an unprovoked ass out of the blue? Don’t you think that’s more of a weird thing to say?
And what’s even more weird, ( imo ) is someone defending his nonsense.

  111. Holy S#%*!

  112. Hammajamma says:

I’ve got snow on my satellite dish. Someone describe the look on Harbaugh’s face right now.

  113. bbnate420 says:

No problem, Duke. I don’t see it as a fight, but it probably came off as aggressive. I have that problem. I don’t communicate well sometimes. Just because I’m adamant about a position doesn’t mean I am angry about it. I will try to work on it.

  114. Tie game! Woodcock! I mean Woodhead:)

  115. 6:43 left opps

    I HATE the DUCKS

  116. 6:43 left opps

I HATE the DUCKS but big hold to get him open

  117. Dukeshire says:

Georgia – Cherry picking one like that you’ve now taken out of it’s context. well done.

  118. sluggo42 says:

  119. scored to quick

  120. I guess that fake punt doesn’t look so bad after watching the
    SF/NE game.

  121. Unbelievable

  122. sluggo42 says:

Lots of time for Brady at least

  123. Dukeshire says:

Nate – Preaching to the choir. lol

My god, what a game this is. Come on Pats. Fire back.

  124. Palerydr says:

6:43 left Brady rolls right down the field they scored too quick

  125. Brady + Welker = Unstoppable?

  126. Hamma, Harbaugh had a shellshocked look on his face after the Pats scored. But then LeMichael James got a huge kickoff return and Crabtree scored untouched. Dammit! Come on Brady, keep on moving the chains.

  127. sluggo42 says:

We need a live game thread for the last five minutes

  128. Dukeshire says:

Ugh. Big stand by the 9ers d line.

  129. Thats what happens when a top notch defense gets fired up!!

  130. Dukeshire says:

sluggo – I was thinking that same thing. lol

  131. Brady sacked on third and long. I think the pats just took their last long dump in their pants just now with 5 mins to go. Ted Ginn muffed the punt, but recovered.

  132. Palerydr says:

watch out for the trap play they ran on us

  133. The loose ball bounces have ALL gone SF way so far. NEED ONE to go NE way right now

  134. Dukeshire says:

    Big stand by the Pats

  135. 3rd and 4 for the niners. STOP THEM!
niners punt. last gasp to tie the game for the pats.

  136. Time for the 49ers to blow a 4th quarter lead.

  137. sluggo42 says:

    Long drive time

  138. hum – see it vs NE!! not for SF on the kick return

  139. Dukeshire says:

Time for the 49ers to blow *another* 4th quarter lead.

  140. Tom Brady needs to pull a Wilson:)

  141. Palerydr says:

    Crap crap crap

  142. Dukeshire says:

    Ball game. Damn!

  143. Boo. Close but no cigar.

  144. Let’s hope for an Akers miss. It’s been happening alot lately.

  145. bbnate420 says:

    Effin Brady!

  146. Block that kick!!!!!!!

  147. sluggo42 says:

    Block and return for 6

  148. bbnate420 says:

Next Sunday is big regardless. 10 wins almost assures the playoffs for the Hawks. And beating the Whiners is NEVER bad.

  149. Dukeshire says:

    Very true.

  150. Palerydr says:

Looks like short stuff underneath to backs and TE works effectively.

  151. Dukeshire says:

Still a shot, albeit long as a country mile.

  152. NYHawkFan says:

SF is looking very strong tonight against NE, especially on D. Sure glad next week is at home. Whatever the outcome, it’s gonna be fun to watch. I expect a hard-fought battle, with Seattle winning 28-24. Go Hawks!

  153. Well, beat ‘em anyway and make them win on week 17.

  154. bbnate420 says:

I think the Hawks benefit more from a playoff run than they did in 2010. Yes, they still have some players that it probably helped give experience to, but much more of this current team should be here going forward compared to the 2010 team.

  155. Can we wish for Arizona to beat SF on the road (insert snide remark here)

  156. MoSeahawk12 says:

damn it! That would have been an epic come from behind win and a huge blow to the 49ers. Seahawks have to take care of business next week regardless.

  157. bbnate420 says:

Next week should be entertaining. I expect the Hawks to put up a VERY good fight if nothing else. Ultimately, however they win 10 games and/or make the playoffs, I will be very happy.

  158. DisplacedSeahawkFan says:

So does that mean we can’t win the West? Or, even less probably, does it mean us winning the west depends on us beating the 49rs and the Rams, and the 49rs losing to us and the tards?

  159. bbnate420 says:

    xcman, Any Given Sunday.

  160. bbnate420 says:

DSF, I believe we have to win out and have the Whiners lose the next 2 weeks.

  161. With a likely wild card – I want to secure the #5 seed – means we play at the NFC Least champion. I prefer that to playing in GB. I think we match up with Dallas best

  162. bbnate420 says:

Obvious;y. the next’s week result is linked.

  163. Lets just win out and let the cards fall where they may!!

  164. GeorgiaHawk says:

“Lets just win out and let the cards fall where they may!!”

And the Cardinals too for that matter. Lol.

  165. Maybe the Cards would have a slight chance against SF if the game was at Arizona with Kolb at. QB.

But it’s in SF with Ryan Lindley or possibly Brian Hoyer at QB.

  166. Back in ’99, the Seahawks won the AFC West on the last Sunday, when the Raiders somehow managed to upset the Chiefs in Kansas City. So while the Cardinals beating the Niners is farfetched, anything can happen in the NFL.

  167. bbnate420 says:

Let’s just keep in mind that the Hawks are 9-5 and looking dominant the last few weeks. Albeit versus a couple of inferior teams. I really can’t be much happier about the progress of the team this year if I’m being realistic.

  168. Yes, bbnate420, they’ve made major progress since last year. A 11-5 record would be awesome (first 11-win season in franchise history, I believe — they’ve won 12 and 13, but never 11). 10-6 would be good too, especially if they get to the playoffs.

  169. bbnate420 says:

Yes, Canfan. I believe you’re right, as far as I an remember anyways. I really didn’t follow the Hawks until 1992, so I could be wrong. The playoffs would be a nice step for this team, even if they backed into it IMO.

  170. bbnate420 says:

Some may say, they went OPUN GUNGHAM STYLE!

  171. I think Carroll is intentionally allowing players to run up the score.

Carroll has a young team that’s still building confidence and finding their identity. Records that fall from scoring so many points helps strengthen both traits…

Big wins may help intimidate future opponents.

Blowouts gives the players a longer chance to feel what dominating an opponent feels like and provides more opportunity for our team to be successful against actual opponents.

Also, the players are going to gladly continue scoring because he helps them reach their personal goals and incentives.

  172. Divish, I’m just kind of appalled that you would speak ill of Gangnam Style.

  173. You forgot mmmbop.

  174. GeorgiaHawk says:

Russell Wilson is the 1st player in NFL history with 3 rush TD and a pass TD in the 1st half of a game.

  175. GeorgiaHawk says:

Another team kicking themselves for not picking Wilson in the draft?–Sideline-Reactions–Seahawks-50—Bills/15047230

  176. Great to see my favorite Seahawk Matt Flynn 2 weeks in a row.. WOW!.
I don’t believe P.C. thought he would gain that kinda yardage on the fake. Game ball should go to the O-line. Of course I wanted the Pats to win. Dang it all.

  177. GeorgiaHawk says:

Good to see Thomas finally get his first pick six int.

  178. confucious says:

Good win against a below .500 team. I just finished my first bite of crow (I predicted Hawks 8-8 at best). It doesn’t taste very bad in this situation. Next week is the biggest game of the season for the Hawks. They will be running short at corner and playing a very good team in the 49ers. Harbaugh looks smarter now with the qb change. He watched the seahawks get mobile at the position and didn’t want to get left behind. I’m jacked for next week! Don’t forget to look at some ads on this site and support the blog.

  179. mojjonation says:

As long as they stay focused and don’t let their heads get too big, they can take down the 9ers. The 9ers and Hawks are probably two of the hottest teams in the NFL and no one really wants to play either one of them. Even if Seattle beats the 9ers, there isn’t a big chance that Arizona beats San Fran at the CandleStink. So we win out, 9ers beat Zona, we wind up half a game back thinking woulda, coulda, shoulda, and we get the top wild card spot against someone who really doesn’t want us to show up. Not the best scenario, but one that I think all of us can take.

  180. jchawks08 says:

It’s starting to come together! Just a few weeks ago the offense was highly suspect even though we had the running game going and Wilson was efficient, there was no trust that they could carry the team, if needed. Now, what it’s 3 weeks in a row over 450 yards and well, the points.. I was stunned watching the score change to 50 yet again yesterday. 1st time since 1950 that a team has gone back to back 50pts. Our Seahawks? WTF? Just amazing.
In a perfect world, the Pats would of taken care of the 9ers last night, but it didn’t work out. I hate to admit that the 9ers look really really good. Got to love our chances at the Clink though.
Let’s keep the good times rolling, boys! GO HAWKS!

  181. If we win out…that Miami game will loom large. We’ve had a lot of close games, I know, but that one game is galling.

  182. hawkfaninoklahoma says:

9ers play smash mouth ball the pats not so much. poor weather conditions the smash mouth team should win, conditions favor the 9ers. what gives me hope is that the pats almost came back. can’t wait for the game if hawks win they are a legit contender.

  183. Dukeshire says:

From where I sit, Seattle’s D line needs to play their best game of the year Sunday night. SF’s interior trap blocking is so effective, Seattle’s tackles really needs to be strong at the point. And the ends simple must not allow Kap to get outside the edge. Force him to climb the pocket. He appears to be less effective as both a passer and runner between the hash marks.

  184. sluggo42 says:

Ya, maintaining gaps, and not getting gashed by gore is tough enough, now we have to worry about keapernick too.
This game might be more about keeping the offense on the field longer, and just out scoring them… It’s gunna be an epic game fo sho!

  185. Hammajamma says:

Looking like the Hawks will travel to the NFC East champs for round one.

  186. GeorgiaHawk says:

Stay in your gap, avoid the trap, then slap the crap out of Kap.

  187. Not that the Cards are capable of beating the 49ers the last game, but if they were they still would not be inclined to do us any favors after Pete ran the score up on them last week.

  188. The 1986 Seahawks were the hottest team at the end of the season, winning five in a row, but couldn’t get into the playoffs. This team might be even hotter and has to win just one more home game to make the playoffs, so we really shouldn’t complain. Just making the playoffs is a big achievement in Russell Wilson’s rookie year. Keep him healthy and the playoffs are going to be a regularity.

  189. Dukeshire says:

It’s more than simply maintaining gap integrity, although that’s part of it. Mebane and Branch / Jones will have to shed blocks while not getting moved off the point. That is the key. Otherwise, you’ve got LBs first contact far more often than they should, or, you’ve got them fighting off blocks and the secondary making tackles. With the right personnel as the 9ers have, it’s a very effective blocking concept.

  190. Georgia: Classic, lol

    Canfan: Right on

  191. GeorgiaHawk says:

“Nothing like Rex’s night before the game speeches to get your mind right. I’m jacked out of my mind. Btw congrats to the Seahawks. 50 again?”

    — @OfficialBraylon, Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards, at 10:26 p.m.

I think it’s safe to say we have a top five D. And if we beat the 9ers we could have the top points allowed D.

  192. What a crazy three weeks. Makes the Miami game seem all the more disgusting. That one could come back to bite us, same with the Lions game. Cant believe we lost to both those teams. Ugh!

But I also cant believe we’ve scored 50 points two weeks in a row, even against bad teams thats crazy. The Pats would be proud to do so well.

Still, the defense worries me. The LB’s still get beaten regularly in coverage, we still have intermediate zone issues, TE’s get open down the seam, and with Browner out and a suspension looming for Sherman, the DB’s situation is sketchy. And our run D isnt what it was.

We cant have breakdowns on D like at the end of the first half, not against a team like San Fran. Im so sick of losing to San Fran I cant stand it. And I hate the idea of facing them on the Road in the playoffs.

Seattle has to play more disciplined if they intend to beat the Niners. And man, I want to beat them so bad it HURTS!

  193. Dukeshire says:

I would agree with that. The intermediate zone has given this defense fits all season. The first game against SF we really saw Wagner struggle. Granted, that was with Smith under center. He and Kap are very different (clearly) so I don’t believe this will be as large an issue as before, but they simply have to play a disciplined game.

  194. SandpointHawk says:

I want the Packers in the play-offs, I am sick of hearing about this crap.

  195. “Stay in your gap, avoid the trap, then slap the crap out of Kap.”

ha! Georgia, and Duke, I’m with you. A bigger test for our D next week than we might have expected before Kaepernick took over. SFs trap game is really something. I was a little hopeful with Iupati left the game injured, but he was back and bulldozing people into submission. This will be a tough game for our DTs.

  196. chuck_easton says:

With the unfavourable outcome, for Seattle and its fans, of the NE vs. SF game last night it would appear that any chance for a NFCW division title would be put at slim to none (slim just boarded a train out of town).

Seattle still has alot to play for. They need at least one win to just about lock up a wild-card spot.

A 9-7 finish, while being better than pretty much everyone hoped for at the start of the season, doesn’t guarantee anything but scoreboard watching and tie breaker formulas that would require hiring a NASA scientist.

10-6 would very likely wrap up one of the two wild-card spots. 11-5 would guarantee a play-off trip to somewhere.

While I would love for the team to win out, I could easily envision a 1-1 split of the next two home games.

Come on boys (and 12th man)! Don’t let up yet. You’ve come a long way and have improved over last season. But sitting home for the play-offs with a moral victory won’t leave a very good taste in your mouths (or those of the fans) now. It was the team that raised the expectation bar, not us.

To quote the bumper sticker on my truck “Are you going to Cowboy up or just lay there and bleed?”
