Celebration dance!

Well, that was interesting. The Seahawks drubbed an Arizona team that is playing like it wants the season to end this week. Obviously lots of good stuff going around for a win like that. Eight turnovers, holding Larry Fitzgerald without a catch for three quarters, Richard Sherman’s two picks  and three TDs from Marshawn Lynch.

1. What impressed you most with the win today?

2. What does this win mean going forward? Confidence boost?

3. Seeing what Sherman did today for Seattle, how concerned are you if he does indeed get suspended?

4. Game ball goes to?

5. Any thoughts about the game next week against the Bills?

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Not sure what else is needed;-)

  2. Dukeshire says:

I’m very happy that there were no significant injuries, with a blowout like this.

Got to get that W in Toronto next Sunday, then, 49ers. I can’t wait for that Des 23rd game.

  3. Dukeshire says:
  4. freedom_X says:

Finally – a complete crushing of Arizona. No need to hear that goon Darnell Dockett bray about how Arizona should have won. This is a figurative elbow shot to Dockett’s throat, long overdue.

Arizona was so bad, it’s hard to draw any conclusions from the game. What I’m happy about is that Seattle finally smashed an inferior opponent, start to finish.

  5. Ewalters7354 says:

    Two words:WAR HAWKS!!!

  6. Game ball goes to the Arizona Cardinals offense for putting up one of the worst performances I’ve ever seen, I was laughing my ass off the entire time, what a great day. I really feel bad for Fitzgerals, as much as I hate seeing him play against the Hawks, he is an amazing person and an even better player, he deserves to be on a good team.

  7. 1. What impressed you most with the win today?

The overall hustle of EVERYONE – all game.

    2. What does this win mean going forward? Confidence boost?

Shows we can play at a high level – I hope not for the overconfidence factor I fear with this young team.

    3. Seeing what Sherman did today for Seattle, how concerned are you if he does indeed get suspended?
I am concerned about the suspension when it comes down. He will not win this on. Best he can do is delay it.

    4. Game ball goes to?

    I vote Sherm and Wagner!!

    5. Any thoughts about the game next week against the Bills?

We better show up to play!! be in control most of the game – want a comfortable win (more than 7)

  8. CDHawkFan says:

I feel a bit dirty after this one, not sure why, maybe because we got all the bounces and the Cards QB suck.

Glad the second string guys got to play 1/2 the game and we got the W, but other than that I am not taking too many positives as the Cards didn’t really show up.

    Hopefully everyone is healthy.

And to think, after the first 4 or so plays I was a little worried.

  9. SandpointHawk says:

An all timer for sure, we will relive this one for the next 20 years….Yep Grandpa SandpointHawk remembers when the Hawks blew the Cards out 58 to zip back in ’12….

  10. guywhothinksheknowsitall says:

    1. What impressed you most with the win today?
Everything, you just can’t name 1 thing here.

    2. What does this win mean going forward? Confidence boost?
This team’s confidence was high already, hopefully it doesn’t get too high going into Toronto.

    3. Seeing what Sherman did today for Seattle, how concerned are you if he does indeed get suspended?
Not overly concerned. Thurmond was very solid and Trufant is fully capable. Thurmond/Trufant will hold their own just fine until the playoffs where Browner/Thurmond will be solid.

    4. Game ball goes to?
I would say John Skelton but he will probably just give it to the defense again.

    5. Any thoughts about the game next week against the Bills?
Carry the momentum without getting over confident.

  11. MoSeahawk12 says:

Dockett’s just a low end thug. You had ZERO impact today 100%cotton. Go away loser.

  12. So he gave them Monday off – hope it turns out better than last time we gave them extra time off!!

  13. What can you say. . . what a game. I can’t remember one quite like it in all my days watching this club.

The stats are crazy all over the place. 2, 100-yd runners, when the last time that happened, curt and john l.?

Great to get one like this, onward and upward . . .

  14. guywhothinksheknowsitall says:

pdway, Shaun Alexander and Maurice Morrice did it against the Texans in 2005

  15. I like not worrying about a game after the first quarter. This is a new experience. So is having the ball bounce our way a couple of times. Thing about the ball bouncing your way, you have to be there to take advantage of it. Our guys were there all day.

There are reasons for concern against Buffalo (Mario Williams, CJ Spiller, Tavaris Jackson – okay not the last one) but let’s enjoy this. Let’s revel in the extravagant excess of 58 points. I think the guys will be ready for business next Sunday… but don’t look beyond to the next game, please.

  16. pabuwal says:

Carroll gave the team Monday off after the Bears game.
It’s safe to say that Ken Whisenhunt has botched this QB situation

In terms of getting the bye -
    1). Seahawks win out
    2). SF loss at NE
3). GB loss at Chicago (or tonight)
    4). NYG lose one more

  17. MoSeahawk12 says:

    1. What impressed you most with the win today? The Coaching staff putting the foot on the throat for the first time.

    2. What does this win mean going forward? Confidence boost? Means we are still in second place and need to step up big against the rest of the division. Niners and Rams will not throw the white flag like the cardinals.

    3. Seeing what Sherman did today for Seattle, how concerned are you if he does indeed get suspended? It will be an issue as he is playing at the highest level right now. But we know it’s in the future and should be able to manage his absence.

    4. Game ball goes to? The luck of the bounce and the 12th man. We got every break today for the first time ever.

    5. Any thoughts about the game next week against the Bills? Need to calm down from today. We will not put 58 points on the bills. We will score about 20 and need to refocus in 24 hours.

  18. udub671 says:

Thurmond looked really good. The question is what happens if/when both Sherman and Browner are out? Can Jeremy Lane fill in as well as Thurmond did? Hard to say because it looked like even the practice squad could have beat the Cards today.

In a perfect world…the Cards would be so desperate to get a QB that they’d give us Fitz for Flynn and a mid-round pick. Yeah right!

  19. MoSeahawk12 says:

Also Wilson was not as sharp today. He was below 60% completions, but only had to throw it 15 times? Beast Mode!! I love watching this cat do his thing. A+ D thank you for crushing the 32nd ranked offense. You came to work today and made sure they didn’t want it.

  20. krieg17 says:

I got 41 frikkin fantasy points today from the Hawks “D” Play like that the rest of the year,
    we win out!

  21. I thought it was kinda boring actually. Like shooting fish in a barrel. I guess I prefer having the stress of going down to the final drive of the game. All in all, this does not mean a whole lot except having W. What matters is whether we can get 3 more W’s, and SF loses to NE next week.

As far as the game ball – really the whole team played well so it is hard to pick one individual. More like who gets a lump of coal for being the worst player. But I would give the ball to McCoy just because he played a good game and has not been previously recognized.

  22. heyyou_66 says:

Cards qb’is are horrid…… 17.8 combined passer rating for them.
love what Schneider/ Caroll have done with this team to make us true contenders…. But damn does Schneider look like a hobbit or what?

  23. hawkfan777 says:

    Pilot, really?

Dude, I would take that win over any other win this year.

I am so tired of the close games that come down to the last couple plays.

  24. hawkfaninoklahoma says:

great game, wilson sure was off his game a bit today. thinking if he played whole game thou his numbers would have looked much better.

  25. For me, the sweetest win of the season was against Chicago.

  26. hawkfan777 says:

Ironically, that game may cost Wilson Rookie of the year.

  27. GeorgiaHawk says:

First game I decide not to drink and look what happens. Great win!

  28. MoSeahawk12 says:

most points ever for the Seahawks!! Pretty cool against a division rival. I’d love to put that on the 9er’s, but we all know that’s not gonna happen. So many highlights today I’m dizzy. Complete domination. First blowout and for once didn’t come down to three points at end. Thank you Jon Kitna for raising the 12 flag!!!

  29. hawkfan777 says:

Georgia, please quit drinking. We would like more wins like this one.

  30. Audible says:

“I prefer having the stress of going down to the final drive of the game”…

Dude, I think there are support groups for that type of thinking…Just like victims of domestic abuse who struggle adjusting to a normal relationship…as fans, some of us get used to seeing our favorite team abused.

  31. In a voice echoed throughout the entire blog, there will be no bigger Patriots fans than us next week. If SEA wins out (Which I think is likely), and SF loses @NE, and loses @SEA, they’ll finish 10-5-1, Seattle finishes 11-5, and is in conversation for the 2nd seed… since they own the tiebreaker over both GB and CHI. If ATL loses, Seattle would host another NFC Championship game, assuming they win the divisional.

Now, onto the game coverage from my perspective:

This is what happens to teams when they’re trying to stop a balanced offense… a great running game, and a pretty damn good passing game. Loading up to stop Marshawn, RW will burn you with his arm. Able to bottle up Marshawn? Ok, then RW will throw it, no big deal. Able to slow down both? Fine… RW will just smash you with his legs.

  32. Seahawks22360 says:

Glad to see McCoy step up today. Also Rice is proving not to be made of glass after all. My god, that shot he took was insane. Defense as a whole gets the game ball. Liked seeing some of the second stringers making plays.

  33. MoSeahawk12 says:

Who is this RADEon fellow? Pretty massive change in perspective. Good to see you came out with football smarts intact. Enjoy the rest of the season. We don’t always and often don’t have the opportunity to root these guys on this late in the season. 8 wins with the opportunity to stretch that to 11. I’m pleased with 10. It’s been a long time since we had a winning record. You should re watch the early part of the season and enjoy what many of us were seeing. It’s not every year you get a special player at the QB position that can lead you into the playoffs.

  34. MoSeahawk12 says:

    really, not a bad comment…come on newstribune…..

  35. MoSeahawk12 says:

Flynn stepped in and the team mostly kept moving. That is encouraging. He showed very solid escape ability when they had several rushers in his face. I’m going out on a limb, but think we have the best backup in the league. Wilson got rocked for the first time this season and was right there on the next play. I think the Seahawks are set at QB for the next several years.

  36. MoSeahawk12, in fairness, I really didn’t see this until the Miami game, where he made a few mistakes that may have cost us the game, but in the same breath, he made enough plays to be in a position to win. The only play that really stands out is the negative yardage completion at the end of the game, I forget all the details… but I’d have probably done the same thing in his shoes.

Regardless of his size, this dude works his ass off, respects his teammates, and wants nothing more than to win, regardless of costs.

He’s a proven winner – get ready to see me wearing a #3 jersey btw.

  37. sluggo42 says:

McCoy gets the game ball – 85 baby!
RW 7 completions and 58 points
Flynn finally gets to see some game and he looked ok, but I coulda killed him for leading rice into that nasty hit, thank goodness the d player didn’t put a head to head on him, and have him a good clean hit instead, regardless of the penalty.
Team effort was great, these guys love each other and they are tight as a frogs butt fumble
    Turbin (kraken) was great

  38. MoSeahawk12 says:

Cool RadEon, I mean he’s a rookie and some of us get pretty excited about his play so far, but then you see the national media trying to get a piece of this kid and you think, we’ll these guys are not Seahawks homers and they have been around every great player, QB’s and they seem to think he has “it”. These guys cover the best every week and somehow Wilson is one of the guys they are excited about.

It makes many of us long time Seahawks fans pretty encouraged for this year and the future. I’ve been cheering this team since I was 9 years old. I’m 44 now for what it’s worth. About two cents I’m thinkin.

I could just tell he was better than what we’ve had over the past five years. At least he had a much higher ceiling for improvement than anyone we’ve had. Great time To Be A Seahawks FAN!!

  39. Oh, I am sure I will get my stress-junkie fixes over the next 3 weeks.

What a great ending to a season. It could easily come down to the wire – if SF loses to NE, and we beat SF, we still have to win the last week. All kinds of scenarios that can play out here. But we are in the thick of it, which is awesome.

  40. confucious says:

I echo ALL sentiments above and want to add the oline to the list of game balls. They owned the los. today.

  41. 1) The coaches (Carrol, Cable, Bevell) mixed it up right from the get-go, and were aggressive. And the Hawks played disciplined, for the most part.

2)Not much. Could be a trap game–Hawks had better not get complacent. I have never seen the Cards play so badly, not even when they started Rosenbach and were awful.

    3) Browner is actually having a better year than Sherman, most teams dont even throw to Browners side unless he slips. Thurmond looks pretty good. I hate to see us lose him, but we will probably be okay.

    4) Game balls? Lynch. Anthony McCoy for finally stepping up bigtime. Rice for taking that hit and not only surviving, but hanging onto the ball. Sherman for being the best CB playing football this sunday. Wagner for having his best game as pro. Thurmond for playing well in his first game in forever after a horrendous injury. The entire defense.

All this and Wilson wasnt at his best. He missed two wide-open TD plays, one to Turbin and one to Rice. The pick wasnt a great decision, but it wasnt his fault Tate fell down; crap happens.

The offensive coaching staff for keeping thier foot to the floor and not being conservative.

    5) Oh yeah. Can you say TRAP GAME?! I hope not…

  42. bsinnitt says:

This game just goes to show how important a teams faith in their QB position is to their overall psyche. As soon as we were up 17-0 nearly the entire AZ team packed it in because they didn’t have any faith that their offense could get them back into it. I’m glad to watch us crush a lesser team but man that has to suck if your a Cards fan. You just don’t see many games that one sided in the NFL. The last one I can remember for the Hawks was when we went to Philly and Lofa played like he was in the Eagles huddle all game.

  43. 1. All the different ways to get to 58 points. That’s what impressed me.

    2. A win is a win. It was fun. But it was only one win. However, every win is a confidence boost but it’s not like we beat a good team at this stage in their season. Still, I’ll take it and not feel dirty one bit because what we did is what good teams do to bad ones; pound the crap out of them.

    3. Whenever you lose your best player on any side of the ball there is definite reason for concern. I hope he hired the people who represented Ryan Braun.

    4. Me. Because I said so.

    5. Lets score more points than they do.

  44. Pretty dead today! especially after winning soooo big!!!

interested in seeing post game comments from the coaches

  45. DanielleMND says:

    1. What impressed you most with the win today?

We dominated on offense, special teams, and defense. We didn’t slow down even with a 51-0 lead in the 4th. It’s like we were playing against a high school team. We beat them every way we could.

    2. What does this win mean going forward? Confidence boost?

It’s a definite confidence boost. Now we just need to replicate it for the rest of the season.

    3. Seeing what Sherman did today for Seattle, how concerned are you if he does indeed get suspended?

I’m still concerned about that, but Thurmond looked really good today while Maxwell and Lane were solid.

    4. Game ball goes to?

Marshawn Lynch. 11 carries for 128 yards and 3 TDs.

    5. Any thoughts about the game next week against the Bills?

Our D needs to play in Toronto like they do at home.

  46. pabuwal says:

You guys should be rooting for the Lions to pull this one out here – to get the Seahawks one step closer to a bye.

  47. sluggo42 says:

    Guess what?

Some team scored 58 unanswered points today in the nfl…. Seriously!

  48. letsworkitout says:

Don’t count the eggs just yet…..

It is foolhardy at best to assume a loss for SF vs NE

It is foolhardy to assume an automatic win vs SF @ Seattle.

Can both happen? Yes. Automatic? Far from it….

    Come back to earth people.

  49. Sekolah says:

    1. What impressed me most was the fact that this Seahawks team played so well in every phase of the game, particularly so against the kind of team that they tend to play down to. For the first time this year, Matt Flynn took snaps behind center and engineered a scoring drive. I saw Heath Farwell getting snaps at mike backer. Robert Turbin ran for 100 yards. Marshawn averaged more than 11 yards per carry. I’ve seen many games in my years as a fan of this team, but I’ve never seen a complete crushing of a Seahawks opponent quite like that.

    2. All it means is that the Seattle Seahawks took care of business. This is what good teams do to lesser teams, teams in turmoil, teams showing distinct vulnerabilities. Killer instinct was definitely on display here. I saw a lot of hunger in some of these players that I never knew was there. This team needed to kick the sh** out of another team, I felt. Mission accomplished with an exclamation point, or two, or three.

    3. Sherm is quickly becoming the Jimi Hendrix of CB’s. He just makes it look way too easy sometimes. He put on a clinic today. We’ll all miss him, but he’ll be kicking himself later when he starts thinking about all the INT’s he may have missed out on. This defense will carry on though, IMO. Between Lane, Maxwell and Thurmond III, I’d say the Seahawks secondary will be fine as long as they don’t take any other losses. Kam and Earl will need to play some of their best ball over these last 3 games.

    4. Lynch. 3 TD’s, 100+ yards rushing, 11.6 ypc. Had he not been nagged by his back, and gotten more carries, he probably breaks 200 yards rushing.

    5. I don’t know this for sure, but I have to believe that when Sidney Rice reaches up and taps that “I’m In!” sign before hitting the field, that there is not an ounce of insincerity in his purpose.

  50. @Lets -WTF are you talking about?!?!?!!?

Don’t count the eggs just yet….. NOBODY IS
It is foolhardy at best to assume a loss for SF vs NE…. NOBODY IS
It is foolhardy to assume an automatic win vs SF @ Seattle… NOBODY IS
Can both happen? Yes. Automatic? Far from it…. NOBODY IS expecting automatic

Come back to earth people. I refuse to not enjoy this game a little longer – if you want to be a downer then hush for a little while (hopefully until well into the play offs)

  51. MoSeahawk12 says:

58 points. Most ever. Earth can wait 24 hours. These guys know they won’t score that many again. It’s called enjoying the dominant win. A rare thing and should be allowed to exist until they start practice for the Bills. I don’t think anybody here thinks this team will score this many points every week. Just refocus and win the games they should. Nothing guaranteed, just like every year.

  52. MoSeahawk12 says:

another week without acib. Wilson did throw one int. (ball was tipped though) But hey, Flynn directed two scoring drives and led us to 6 points. In all honesty, I’m glad Flynn is on our team and I’ve always felt he would be good here. He proved he is very capable and his nifty spin move to avoid pressure up the middle was impressive. I think having him as a backup gives the Seahawks a strong QB position.

  53. 1. What impressed you most with the win today?

The way both sides of the ball played fast. The young guys aren’t thinking about their assignments anymore, they are just playing the game on instinct and training. Bigger, faster, stronger.

    2. What does this win mean going forward? Confidence boost?

I don’t see how it couldn’t be a confidence boost, particularly since we lost to AZ in Week 1. But, next week the score starts out 0-0 and we need to show up (east coast game, etc.)

    3. Seeing what Sherman did today for Seattle, how concerned are you if he does indeed get suspended?

It would be a concern, to say the least. However, Seattle doesn’t face another Larry Fitzgerald quality receiver for the rest of the regular season. The key is controlling the running game of Buffalo, SF, and St. Louis. If we can shut down the run, then the secondary can shift coverage over to the #1 receiver (like they did today with the safeties helping bracket Fitzgerald or playing underneath coverage).

    4. Game ball goes to?

John Skelton? Haha, I think the game ball should go to Gus Bradley. The D has been coached well, and the game plan today was very good (even though the ball definitely bounced our way a few times, luck favors the prepared).

    5. Any thoughts about the game next week against the Bills?

At this point, Buffalo’s QB is a below average NFL quarterback. Control the running game, pressure the QB on 3rd down, and run the ball effectively on offense. Recipe for any road win. I am worried about a let-down though.

  54. jawpeace says:

    1. What impressed you most with the win today?
How well the back ups did after most of the starters got pulled.
    2. What does this win mean going forward? Confidence boost?
Builder game with the backups getting more experience which will keep a high level of play if a starter goes down.
    3. Seeing what Sherman did today for Seattle, how concerned are you if he does indeed get suspended?
Continuing the theme. Losing Sherm will hurt but the back ups are not going to be ripped apart.
    4. Game ball goes to? BEAST MODE
    5. Any thoughts about the game next week against the Bills?
I don’t care if it is UGLY just get us a win Hawks! Also come out of Toronto healthy.

  55. mojjonation says:

Someone on another thread mentioned that (Not So Super) Mario Williams could pose problems. Yes he could and I think the team can plan for him and make things difficult for him. Buffalo has Tavaris but we are in a different air from when he was here. He can talk about abilities and tendencies all he wants, he doesn’t know enough of how the team has progressed since the preseason. Buffalo will have a better chance at learning what to do by watching Hawks games than asking TJack about it.

While we have a mathematical chance at the number 2 seed, and as cliche as it is, we should take it one week at a time. We seem to have made a statement regarding making the playoffs, so next up is winning the division. We can do that with some help and taking care of business over the next two weeks, then finishing the season off strong.

Game ball goes to 12th Man for riding the roller coaster that is PC and his team.

I say we do the same as Seattle and take Monday off then get back to work on Tuesday and figure out a game plan for taking down the Bills.
