Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson turns 24 today. But the rookie out of the University of Wisconsin said he didn’t ask for anything special.

“Just to relax, go to practice – that’s about it,” Wilson said. “Not too much. I don’t really like too much. I just like relaxing, hanging out.”

Wilson understands he’ll face a tough challenge on the road against an experienced, physical Chicago defense at Soldier Field.

Wilson played at Soldier Field last season while at Wisconsin against Northern Illinois, so he’s familiar with the stadium.

“I have so much respect for guys like (Brian) Urlacher, (Lance) Briggs, (Julius) Peppers and (Charles) Tillman – all of those guys that I’ve watched over the years,” Wilson said. “So it’s going to be pretty awesome for me to play against them. But it’s no different.

“I won’t be star struck, that’s for sure. I think that you have to play smart. You have to know that they’re very, very intelligent in terms of knowing how to play the game, in terms of their coverages and everything. They do a great job of being in the right spots at the right times. So you have to trust what you see, and just play the game the way it’s supposed to be played.”

Leon Washington earned NFC special teams player of the week honors for his 98-yard kickoff return against Miami, something he says that he’ll share with the rest of the special teams unit.

“Those guys did a tremendous job of blocking,” Washington said. “If you look at the play, you get a hole that big something has to happening right. It was good to see us go out and execute.”

Now that he’s tied with Joshua Cribbs for the NFL record with eight kickoff returns, Washington said he intends to push past his rival and hold the record on his own.

“That’s my goal,” Washington. “And to get it by a few, so nobody can catch me before they move the kick back.”

  1. I heard for this birthday, Russell Wilson asked for a thicker playbook.

  2. Devon Hester is in 2nd place with five.

  3. Well, at least Christmas is right around the corner. Hopefully, he’ll also get a defense who can hold a 4th quarter lead.

  4. Pabs–I heard he just asked to get past page 3 of the playbook he already has….

    Audible–Har!

  5. That was no knock on Wilson…dude probably has all 32 teams playbooks memorized by now…yet Seattle uses a couple pages…sad.

  6. GeorgiaHawk says:

    Congratulations to Washington.

Ahahahahahaha…funny but true.He only is allowed too work with 3 pass plays.Bubble screen, HB swing, and the go/flare route smh

That’s right, because they’re going to at some point, thankfully.

Georgia, I think Briggs and Tillman are still questionable, so there’s a shot they miss it. Better if we beat them with them playing.

P.S. You forgot to mention the important news. Chris Spencer has been ruled out! ;-)

  10. I would very much like to see the Seahawks abuse the Bears OL. If they can’t, I will have sad face.
