Quick hitters from Carroll

–The biggest slice of news was that guard James Carpenter (concussion) has been cleared to practice and will be in action at Wednesday’s practice. Asked to project either Carpenter or John Moffitt as the starter at left guard, Carroll offered: “We’ll see.”

–Going to Miami is an opportunity to improve on one of the shortcomings the Seahawks encountered during the first half of the season — winning on the road.

–A key in that game? “I really hope we can be aggressive getting after the football and that will make a lot of things better,” Carroll said, stressing the need to force turnovers.

–Carroll talked about how he and GM John Schneider evaluated Miami quarterback Ryan Tannehill, whom they considered in the draft. “John had a real high grade on Ryan,” Carroll said. “he was real excited about him because he was such a good athlete.” They cited a big arm and a natural throwing motion. “We’re not surprised at all he’s a starter and playing good football.”

–The return of linebacker K.J. Wright (concussion) is important because he “brings savvy and awareness of our system,” Carroll said. “Plus, he’s a terrific playmaker.”

–On the suspension of rookie safety Winston Guy (illegal substance): “These days,  professional athletes need to know what they’re putting in their bodies.”

–On playing his former USC star Reggie Bush: “He looks like a more mature runner now. He’s a dynamic football player who can score from anywhere.”

–A real challenge this week is the Miami pressure on the quarterback. “They pressure more than anybody we’ve played … we need to protect this game, that’s the most important thing.” A big part of that pressure is end Cameron Wake (9.5 sacks), who “is as natural as can be at bringing heat.”

–Asked about the number of carries Marshawn Lynch has, Carroll said he’s thinking they’ll give him an increasing load. “It’s going fine, I’m not worried about him at all.”

  1. Feed the BEAST!

  2. Feed the beast Dolphin?

  3. Good to hear Carp is back. Even if he rides the pine, nice to have him back. I wonder if they should keep Moffit at LG and try Carp at RG?

  4. GeorgiaHawk says:

Time for Wilson to step up and prove he can help this team win on the road.
    I think he will.

  5. I thought he proved that in Detroit?

Time for the Defense to play like an elite Defense against a mediocre at best Offense on the road.

  6. GeorgiaHawk says:

Wilsons got to get this road Monkey off his back, Imo. I know that the rest of the team does too, however Wilson has to take the lead on this, imo.

  7. DanielleMND says:

This game comes down to pass protection and defense. Wilson will be fine if he has time to throw instead of run for his life.
