It wasn’t pretty, but the Seattle Seahawks improved to 5-0 at home with a workmanlike, 28-7 win over the New York Jets at CenturyLink Field this afternoon.

The Seahawks improved their record to 6-4 on the year, and will only trail the 49ers by a game as the team heads into the bye week if St. Louis holds onto a slight lead in the fourth quarter on the road.

Check out the results here.

Running back Marshawn Lynch topped the 1,000-yard mark for the second straight season, finishing with 124 yards on 27 carries, including a 1-yard touchdown run.

Lynch now has 1,005 yards on the year.

Seattle’s Russell Wilson was not at his best. The rookie quarterback had solid numbers, finishing 12 of 19 for 188 yards, including a 38-yard touchdown to Golden Tate to open the scoring, and a 31-yard strike to Sidney Rice to give Seattle a commanding, 21-7 lead early in the fourth quarter.

But Wilson also fumbled twice, including a sack and forced fumble by Jets defensive tackle Mike DeVito that fellow defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson picked up and rumbled 21 yards for the Jets only score of the game.

After some struggles the past, three games, the Seahawks once again looked dominant on defense, holding New York’s offense scoreless for the game, forcing three New York Jets turnovers and sacking Mark Sanchez three times.

The Jets finished with just 185 total yards.

Tate capped the victory for the Seahawks by hitting Rice for a 23-yard touchdown on a reverse pass in the fourth quarter for the final score of the game.

  1. Great defensive effort. The Dolphins Offense is only marginally better than the Jets so hopefully they can do this on the road as well.

    Awesome 2nd half again!!!!

  3. Wilson played well when he had any blocking at all, and he even made some amazing plays when he had no blocking…but he fumbled twice, and that hurts.

Its amazing to see Carrol allow him to keep attacking despite the turnovers–early in the season we would have kept pounding it and tried to eak out a 14-7 win in the second half, and likely failed. Now they trust Wilson, and Wilson delivered…again…

Tate had a great game, making two or three huge plays as a WR, and making that great throw to Rice for the final TD…awesome to put the hurt on the Jets with a trick play!

I still hate Bevell, and the third quarter was full of his usual predictable boring offense, but I gotta give him credit for those plays to Miller and the called boot for Wilson, not to mention the great half-back pass by Tate! And the flea-flicker worked, Wilson just threw a bad pass and choked!

  4. Well, if the opposition had been any better we might had been in trouble, still a nice win though, I just wish every game could be played at home.. Ps. Sherm is badass.

Well, this is perfect. 2 game winner heading into a very well deserved bye week. And I have to say that I was really impressed with Wilson today. No, he didn’t play particularly well. He looked very indecisive and lost for a stretch in the second quarter, but he didn’t panic and continued to let the game come to him as he regained his composure. The Jets are a very good defense and throw a lot of exotic looks and blitzes at you, so looking bad during stretches shouldn’t be unexpected. I thought he did an admirable job.

  6. SandpointHawk says:

I didn’t know Tate was a lefty…oh and Marv Albert still sucks… all in all great game. I’ll take 8 or 9 more like this….

  7. Can’t argue much with the D’s performance today – zero points – 185 yards by the Jets. That’s a dominant performance. Sherman was fantastic today.

Wilson made a couple mistakes early, but he made a lot of plays too. His runs were key today – and always under control. And I’d thought that the Jets kind of had Marshawn’s number, but like he often does, he wore them down as the game went on.

Nice, ultimately pretty dominant win by our guys. Good timing for a bye week. Time to rest up and get ready for a run to make the playoffs.

  8. DanielleMND says:

If Wilson struggled in the first half, it was partly because our O-line struggled and partly because the Jets threw some stuff at him that he hadn’t seen before. But once again, we made better adjustments at halftime.

  9. The Jets DL really affected us for a big part of today. IMO our play calling didn’t always take advantage of that.

I felt Wilson Played like a rookie most of the day today – but stepped up for some big plays today!!

    Surreal rooting for the Lambs….

  11. Dukeshire says:

Wow, what a 49er / Ram game. Rams are going to win.

  12. Dukeshire says:

    Oops, nevermind, flag. holy cow.

  13. hawkfaninoklahoma says:

hey duke , what you think of bruce today? this was kinda what i meant by the 10 sacks for the season all he has to do is average a 1/2 a game. realistically i would like to see 12 to say he is really coming along.

  14. MattandCindy says:

And now the Rams just missed a 58 yard field goal. The 49ers are going to take this one because the Rams are retarded. By winning we had a huge chance to pull closer if the Rams do their job. Looks like they’re not going to do their job again. Granted, it’s not really their job to beat other teams for us, but it would have been nice. Looks like the Rams weren’t ready for a quarterback that could run as well as Kapernick. But the games not over yet.

  15. Who is Matt Sanchez?

  16. hawkfaninoklahoma says:

    what ever happened to ACIB?

  17. MoSeahawk12 says:

He’s crying in his Flynn jersey that he can’t sell on ebay.

  18. MoSeahawk12 says:

BUT WILSON GOT SACKED AND FUMBLED AND THEY SCORED!! WE almost LOST CAUSE OF WILSON BEING SO SHORT!! SHORT QB’s ALWAYS FUMBLE AND LOSE!!!!. In case he doesn’t show. You’re welcome.

  19. hawkfaninoklahoma says:

    funny mo

  20. Did I mention I love my SEATTLE SEAHAWKS!!

  21. MoSeahawk12 says:

and Flynn would have thrown 6 more TD’s against Detroit….for real!

  22. Yes, Flynn would have.
