The Seattle Seahawks have been relatively healthy this season. But the team had the most players appear on the injury report this season this week, with 13 players listed on Friday’s report.
Of course, most of Seattle’s players should be healthy enough to take the field on Sunday. However, outside linebacker K.J. Wright will miss a game for the first time in his two-year career due to a concussion he suffered last week.
The Mississippi State product has been one the glue guys in the middle of Seattle’s defense.
Wright’s second on the team with 63 stops, and has emerged as an important person communicating the calls, with Seattle starting a rookie at middle linebacker in Bobby Wagner.
Sunday will mark the first time this season that the Seahawks will not have one of their core players available on defense. But Wagner expects that Wright’s replacement, second-year pro Mike Morgan, can handle the job in making his first career start.
Clare Farnsworth of Seahawks.com offers more on Morgan making his first career start.
All three analysts from NFL playbook like Seattle over the Jets. Check out the video link.
ESPN’s Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith of First Take discuss if the New York Jets can beat Seattle this week (they both say no) or make the playoffs (ditto). It’s pretty entertaining. Check out the video link.
According to Mike Vorkunov of the New Jersey Star Ledger, Jets personnel executive Terry Bradway was a big fan of Russell Wilson duringthe draft, earning the nickname “Russell Bradway.”
Bill Simmons of Grantland takes the Seahawks over the Jets in his weekly picks.
Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson said his teammates plan on making Russell Wilson uncomfortable. “We’re going to get this guy (Seahawks QB Wilson) rattled. He’s a rookie so he’s not (as) experienced as somebody like Tom Brady or something. So we’ve got to just get after him.”
It’s crazy how the players who haven’t done much in the league are the main guys talking. They have to get after the beast first. If they try and focus on Wilson, Lynch is gonna have a field day.Keeo talking buddies lol

We’re playing a bad team at home. I’m not too worried about any one player missing this game.

The reason I predict a blowout is because I am the etarnal optomist, and I expect us to win every game, and sit in stunned disbelief in every loss…

I wanna hear some “BRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCE” this game.
War Hawks!

i would like to see bruce end up with 10 sacks this year
× Flag comment
We all would, but his play needs to be more consistant.
What is the “War Hawks” all about that more and more are signing off with, lately? Is this an homage to Auburn?
× Flag comment
That video was hilarious! One quick point…. Has anyone seen Wilson visible “rattled” this year? Lets revisit how “shaken” Wilson gets after the game shall we? 12 sacks in 8 games? Am I missing something here.
I love Sherman more every game because at least his a$$ cashes the checks him mouth writes… Take note gang green!

Duke,
Yes, “War Hawk” is like Auburn’s “War Eagle.” I first heard it on Brock & Salk last year and it’s taken off from there.
Eric,
Thanks for the ‘First Take’ link. I’m not a big Steven A. guy but I thought he was pretty funny in that clip.

duke consistent or not 10 sacks is great for a rookie. more so when he is not every down player
× Flag comment
Clearly, that’s not in question. My point is that in order to get there, he needs to be more consistant.

Bruce has disappeared since Carolina game.He flashed a little against the Vikings I heard. But he along with Clem have been in ghost town recently.Which is why our 3rd down D has been inconsistent.Thank God Gus got the idea that you have to send pressure if the front four isn’t getting home.

I haven’t read a review like this in what??? seven years “one of the beat offensive lines in the league”…..
The downhill-runner is No. 2 in the league in rushing with 880 yards, and he’s running behind one of the best offensive lines in the league

There are no “gimmes” in the NFL. We have weaknesses that can be exploited by good opposing coaches and a hungry team. Whether the Jets are that, I don’t know. I don’t like KJ being out, but one really good thing about the team under PC/JS is the quality of depth. I expect our defense to step up and hold the Jets to 17. It’s on our offense to show what they can really do. I’d like to see 35, but I’ll take one more than the Jets score.
Attention to penalties and special teams.
Sorry, I realize the above is an anodyne comment, but we all show our support in our own way.
Let me give this a try… WAR HAWKS!

Oh Snappa…some folks will be doing a search for “anodyne comment” tonight… Nice use of the English language….

duke, bruce is at 6 i believe that’s a 1/2 a sack a game for the rest of the season. honestly i hope he get’s in the 12-3 range.

This is a great game (assuming we win!) to get some non starters some reps – it will help the team enormously in the long run. Morgan will obviously get alot of reps – maybe Thurmond will get some also.
Agree with everyone – it would be a big help if Irvin could be more consistent and get some more sacks.

Irvin! Washington! Thomas! Sherman! Lynch! Rice! And Wilson will be kicking A$$!!!!

Kicking A$$!!!!

Irvin has 5 sacks so far, and 4 of those came in two games (GB, Car). He has 5 games with zero sacks, and two with .5. So, he has more games with no sacks or even a part than he does with a sack. This is what I mean by consistant, or inconsistent, in this case. Yes, I would love for him to get at least .5 every game from here on, but he is still learning and hasn’t shown he’s capable of that type of consistency yet.

You guys should check out Madden 13. I played this weeks game against the Jets and wow, you should see how massive Rex Ryan is on the sideline. I talking Michelin Man, Stay Puff Marshmallow man big. It’s absurd. Obviously the game was being worked on before he lost that 100+lbs, but it’s pretty scary how huge they made him. There’s two versions. One he’s wearing a green Jets shirt and has the Jaba thing going on. The other if it’s raining, he’s wearing some sort of coat. Doesn’t look as big there. It’s worth a laugh.
Game note, O-line has to hold up against the crazy blitzes up the middle. I have a hunch that Rex will send a similar style of pressure that we faced week one in AZ. The team has improved a lot since then, but I think the Jets will bring it every play. Hang in O Line and give Wilson the time to burn these guys. Lynch, break off a couple of long runs and shut these clowns up. Go Hawks!

“So you think our seahawks are phoney, I guess it’s hard not to agree”
“You say it all depends on Carroll, and who is in his family tree”
“Wright, you’re bloody well right, you got the bloody right to play”
“Wright, you’re bloody well right, you know you got a right to play”
“Ha-ha, you’re bloody well Wright, you know you’re right to Play”
“Yeah-yeah, you’re bloody well Wright, you know you’re Wright to play”
“Me, I don’t care anyway”

I’ve been signing off with WAR HAWKS for about 3 years now. Started that back on Seahawks Addicts. Also why I call STTBM slave, from the old days there, back befor it went south…. That used to be a real good site…

War hawks is awful.
Georgiahawk song is awful.
I don’t care if Irvin ends up with 1 sack or 11, I want consistent pressure and seeing him in the quarterbacks face, most of any game. More incompletions are a good thing, and they’ll lead to interceptions. Pass rushers make the QB hurry, not always ending up with a sack. Sacks are clearly the promised land, but 70 sacks one game and 0 for the next 4 isn’t doing it for me.

I just noticed that the Dolphins play on the Thursday next week, meaning they have extra preparation time before we play them.
I know we are on the bye before this game so have lots of preparation time ourselves, but…..
Is it just me, or does it seem like alot of the teams we have played had extra prep days?
× Flag comment
By my count, the Cowboys, Packers, Lions, Vikings, Jets and Dolphins will all of had more than the normal 1 week time between their last opponent and the Seahawks.
Conversely, the Seahawks only had extra prep time for Green Bay (1 day) and the Lions (4 days).
The extra preparation (and healing) time our opponents are getting is important.
This seems a little bit unusual to me.
× Flag comment
Well, Seattle does have a bye next week so as far as extra prep time goes, this one works in their favor. But yeah, they have played several teams that have either come off byes or long weeks. The good news is that they’ve only fallen to the Lions in these games (and that is one they gave away, sadly).

That “war” thing gets used on Jim Rome a lot too…
I’m somewhat worried about losing KJ but it will be interesting to see how Morgan does with this opportunity.
Bill Simmons is always a funny read.

Good call, I didn’t think about that but you’re right. The clones use it all the time.

Yeah, I switched over to addicts also after Sando left here. Remember how MS would post about 12 times a day for awhile?

Mike, right?
Did u play his FF that one year?

Was that the one where we picked the number of sacs various other stats each game? That was fun. Yeah I think it was Mike Seffels or something. I wonder what happened to him.
× Flag comment
I was an addicts fan… before. I remember sluggo and the war hawks thing and ’77 plus many other posters. I’m going to meet up for the game soon and then to my friends house to cut up my Antelope. 12-14 degrees and 6 miles in knee deep snow, i can barely move but my tag expired today so it was good. I don’t know if i can drink today but i’ll give it a try. I hope #31 unloads on Tebow because i might die if he kneels down in our end zone. I know some of you guys are his fans but when i see “Tebowing” i want to drop kick his head off his body like i’m going for a 40 yard field goal. I would be equally upset if a muslim rolled out a carpet and prayed after a td.

I expect the seahawks to have another decent performance. Although this is the Nfl where the seperation between #1 and #32 is minimal. The Hawks have yet to be dominant on both sides of the ball in any one game. I expect this to be another tight contest. Home field advantage ultimately nets the W. GrindHawks!
× Flag comment
Trudging in the snow like that sounds like so much fun! Way to go though. Do it while you’re still young enough to be able to.
I’m looking forward to a game where we take control early and I can watch the stats pile up.

OK i posted too much already so i’ll say bye for now and i’m off to watch the game. I sure hope we win, and if we do it definingly it will reinforce a fear of coming to Clink throughout the league. Like i said before i hope Pete’s ready for some gimmicks.
