The frosty relationship between Pete Carroll and Jim Harbaugh continues.

On his weekly appearance with Brock Huard and Mike Salk of 710 ESPN Seattle, the Seahawks head coach responded to comments made by San Francisco’s head coach questioning if the physical style of play by Seattle defensive backs Brandon Browner and Richard Sherman were within NFL rules.

“Yeah, I think that’s just an important thing to address,” Harbaugh told the San Francisco Chronicle. “I mean, what is this all being defined as? Is it physical play? Is it within the rules? I think that’s the biggest question, is it within the rules what’s happening? We have to ask that question. We have to know what the interpretation is.”

Asked about Harbaugh’s comments, this is what Carroll had to say this morning.

“Wasn’t just a couple weeks ago when they were talking about not doing things like that with the Giants and Kevin Gilbride or something like that?” asked Carroll.

Carroll was referring to a verbal back and forth between Harbaugh and New York Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride, who insinuated that San Francisco’s defensive linemen got away with holding offensive linemen up illegally at the line of scrimmage before those two teams met last week, an accusation that Harbaugh called insulting.

“I thought there was something about that where we don’t go out and express our concerns and all.

“But anyway, I think this was a very normal game in terms of how we played. I’m surprised that he felt like the receivers were so overwhelmed. I thought our guys did a good job. There’s always going to be some calls that you can look at, but our guys played good, solid hard football. Vernon Davis didn’t get the ball and their receivers didn’t do much. Randy (Moss) got one, and so I’m sure there’s a little frustration there on their part.”

Those comments should ramp up an already appealing matchup between the two teams on Dec. 23 at Century Link Field.

Seattle receiver Doug Baldwin, who played for Harbaugh at Stanford, had this to say about the comments via twitter.

  1. I legit wouldve pissed my pants if Carroll said “what’s HIS deal?”

  2. SandpointHawk says:

What did they expect Carroll to say ” Yeah my boys were all over them like a dog on a bone.” I do love Baldwin’s take on it…

  3. hawkfaninoklahoma says:

    way to funny

  4. bird_spit says:

RADEon – I think he said it with out saying it. PC is all cool and that.

  5. HawkfaninMT says:

I thought the exact same thing as PC when I heard about Harbaough’s comments. he was being a tough guy saying that Gilbride needs to let the refs call the game and not single out his players for penalties… Now look what he is doing. i think someone is a little worried their hold on the NFCW is not a strong as it was last year

  6. So true Radeon!!

  7. AaronCurryIsBUST says:

I hate Jim Harbaugh. Screw that supercilious hypocrite.

  8. Harbaugh is starting to become tiresome. That he dislikes Pete is obvious. Besides that he’s a whiner. SF can play it rough, but if they are met with physical play from the other side that team is playing too rough. Oh BOO HOO!

  9. sluggo42 says:

Looks like we have found a topic we can all agree upon!!

Harbaugh is a ________ (fill in space with your personal opinion)

    WAR HAWKS

  10. Sablefish says:

Take your ball and go home Jim.

  11. Harbaugh is a little bi+(h

  12. F-ing hate the guy. Whining hypocrite.

All we need is Harbaugh to bring us together . . .

  13. Repost, but, I just don’t care like some of you don’t care about the offense.

Seattle is the second worst in the NFL in scoring (16 1/2), only beating out Jacksonville. If that doesn’t scare you, shit, I just don’t know then. With this D and Lynch, why are we putting up the growing pains with this offense. Change something, anything, oppurtunities like this just don’t come around.

  14. Jim should win the award for most punchable face in the league.

    So sick of his shenanigans.

  15. Screensmoke says:

Here we go again SCRATCHED RECORD!!! yada yada yada- let’s just deep 6 the offense and start over-7 games in —please let it go!!!

  16. So your cool with 16.5 pts a game, okay, kinda weird, but okay.

  17. sluggo42 says:

    let it go!

  18. Screensmoke says:

I’m cool with rip on harbough day! When harbough was born his mom and dad looked at each other and said_ _ _ _ _?(fill in blank)

  19. sluggo42 says:

Did you have an affair 9 months ago?

  20. sluggo42 says:

“Call the Carrols and congratulate them on the birth of their son “Pete”. I think these boys will be best friends for their whole life!

  21. tacomahawk73 says:

No more of the kinky stuff?

  22. Ewalters7354 says:

The niners reflect their head coach oh so well They just cry when things don’t bgo their way. This guy expects everything to be called in his favor.

    #JimHarbaughisadouche

  23. Dukeshire says:

Look how hatred brings people together! lol. I pray the game in Seattle in late December has playoff implications at steak.

  24. Dude should be happy they won, he is a douche

  25. Screensmoke says:

I would say more of a strong dislike than hate-:)

  26. Duke: chances are, they won’t. I think it’ll be out of reach at that point.

TruBlu got me going again. Pretty much echoing what I’ve been saying since this team started Wilson.

Call me crazy, but, I think this team has a top 5 WR in Sidney Rice. We saw what he did with Bevell and Favre, and that’s elite WR status. Bevell could tailor this offense to what he did in MIN with Favre, Rice, and Peterson, and probably be able to light up with Flynn, Rice, and Lynch. How fierce does that combo sound? Oh who are the skill positions on the seahawks? Sidney Rice, Braylon Edwards, Doug Baldwin and Marshawn Lynch. Tell me that’s not top 5-10 right there? The only thing holding this team back is the quarterback play, regardless if its Bevell’s play calling, Carroll keeping it simple, or Wilson just plain not being a good quarterback. Only time will tell, and if Carroll is wrong about Wilson, I don’t think he’ll be around to see what the team he built can do with solid QB play.

Btw, keep in mind, Sanchez played @NE and put up his good numbers, NE played @SEA, so its a little skewed. Plus, the Jets have worse WR’s than Seattle… So bad in which that Antonio Cromartie is lining up at WR.

  27. I am usually not one to dislike players, teams or coaches, but Jim Harbough is one of those few select ass hats that gets under my skin, what a tool. And nice to see the blog finally agreeing on something, lol, peace at last!

  28. Screensmoke says:

Come on people now -smile at your brother everybody get together-let’s rip on harbough right now! That’s for you Georgia Hawk!

  29. sluggo42 says:

    testing 123

  30. I would hate Harbaugh a lot less if he would stop beating the Seahawks. Can’t really hate on any Niner players because they are pretty anonymous, but Harbaugh, that guy is a butt.

  31. sluggo42 says:

so much for a QB free day…

  32. Harbaugh who??? I find it interesting how he whines about everything. As Bob and Groz states…”he has a very punchable face”. Why would you whine if you won the game??? The 49ers won’t do that again when they play in Seattle.

  33. hawkfaninoklahoma says:

bobby i have a name for you…elperrograndedos remember?

  34. Screensmoke says:

Atleast you tried sluggo!that’s all you can do.thanks for trying!

  35. hawkfaninoklahoma says:

i think that was acib in 07

  36. hawkfaninoklahoma says:

    same writing stile less anger

  37. Screensmoke, are you really unable to spell “harbaugh”?

Also, I’ve legit never laughed at any of the song parodies, and I’m sure the same could be said about 97 percent of the board.

  38. Ewalters7354 says:

    I can’t wait to hear Pete’s presser..

  39. hawkinOK – Yes. I do remember him. There was also BobbyAyala (or something close to it) and nighthawk that were quite negative, at times, too. Obviously, the Wilson/slow guy must be quite familiar with things around here. lol

  40. Screensmoke says:

Hey radeon- thanks for thespelling lesson.your a life changer !one things for sure u and harbough have alot in common!put that one in your pipe and smoke it!

  41. hawkfaninoklahoma says:

    lmao screen

  42. bacigalupij says:

Pete carrol is the real douche no one likes him. Only hawk fans ahahaha

  43. hawkfaninoklahoma says:

bobby after reading some of those posts again i am sure that’s who he is same exact style of writing only guy i have ever seen go out of his way to piss people off. good news is if we ignore him he will go away or keep changing his name.

  44. That SF-Seattle game will be flexed to Sunday Night if both teams are battling for the division at that point.

  45. big egos, great football minds, strong personalities, and winners? We’re also 6’3″, 220 lbs.

Anything else you can think of?

  46. AaronCurryIsBUST says:

“bobby after reading some of those posts again i am sure that’s who he is same exact style of writing only guy i have ever seen go out of his way to piss people off. good news is if we ignore him he will go away or keep changing his name.”

Hey, stop acting like a caveman and trying to pretend anti Wilson people are all the same people. I’ve already said I’ve only went by FireRuskellNow and this handle.

  47. RussellWilsonIsSHORT says:

I am not AaronCurryIsBUST, but I tend to agree with him. The rest of you are a bunch of trolls!

  48. RussellWilsonIsSHORT says:

Maybe if the rest of you took a step back and looked at things objectively, instead of eating what the so-called experts are spoon-feeding you, you would realize that he’s right. You RW defenders claim Flynn isn’t mobile, doesn’t have the arm strength, blah, blah, blah. What’s the harm in putting him out there? You think we might actually score fewer than 16.5 points?

  49. MoSeahawk12 says:

Some love from Peter King of Sports Illustrated today. Monday Morning QB
    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/writers/peter_king/10/21/week-7/2.html

    10. Seattle (4-3). Have to give props to left tackle Russell Okung for doing something I never thought I would see in an NFL game (or a biker street fight, for that matter): Okung pancaked Justin Smith in the Thursday night game. Stunning. You do not pancake Justin Smith. You just don’t.

    1. I think this is what I liked about Week 7:
    a. Seattle running back Marshawn Lynch meeting Dashon Goldson and bulling him five yards past the initial hit.

    And some constructive criticism too.
    b. Robert Turbin, you just can’t drop a touchdown pass in a game of Seahawks-Niners magnitude. Cost your team four points right there, the difference between a touchdown and the field goal Seattle settled for. And Ben Obamanu, you can’t trip over a ghost.
    c. That wasn’t a chop block, Walt Anderson. Second blocker blocked the San Francisco defender, Aldon Smith, in the hip/waist, and a second block in a chop-block combo needs to block below the waist.

  50. dirtbiker_joey says:

I love it! Finally have a true rivalry. Bad blood, trash talk and everything! (I’m talking Seahawks-49ers, not people on this blog) Of course, it’s only a rivalry if we start to beat them. I could see both teams coming into the week 16 matchup at 10-4 with the Division on the line.

  51. CDHawkFan says:

You have got to be kidding me ACIB. Do you honestly think you can post 3 times within minutes with different names and a long entry to fool us? In reading the last string about Harbaugh/PC there were 2 comments from ACIB, then 1 in the middle from RWIS within 3 minutes, I laughed out loud.

Holy cow, you must be super paranoid, and if someone really wanted to find out who you are and where you are posting from, they could, google it.

Take a clue from PC, pick the best one and stick with it.

  52. bacigalupij says:

    Go niners!!!!!!

  53. “Call me crazy, but, I think this team has a top 5 WR in Sidney Rice.”

AJ Green, Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Johnson and Roddy White just called . . .

  54. hawkfaninoklahoma says:

acib, was bored this afternoon went back and looked for you under other names. you are not hard to find same exact comments different players. sad really you weren’t quite so angry back then. same crap just not as angry. funny none us liked you much under your other names either.

  55. Screensmoke says:

Dirt bike Joey-that would be nice!

  56. What has Andre Johnson done this year, I know he hasn’t done anything for me in fantasy.

  57. But there’s always a Julio Jones, I do think Rice is better then top 10, just not top 5, somewhere in the middle, but damn, they need to play call around him. You see how pissed he was after that int, dude had his man beat.

  58. I also think they should start Edwards over Tate now, that bubble screen fiasco did it for me, mf’er was clueless to what he was supposed to do. Also, if I remeber right, Edwards blocked a DE at one point in that game I believe.

  59. he was just an example. there’s others you could list . . nicks, cruz, julio jones. and I like Rice a lot, but deeming him a top-5 receiver in service of another argument about how bad Wilson is, wasn’t accurate to me.

  60. hawkfaninoklahoma says:

he did trublu it was impressive block

  61. Dukeshire says:

Well, I’m glad to see everyone took what I had to say in the previous thread to heart. Good lord…

  62. MoSeahawk12 says:

Harbaugh(Harwaaaaaa!) is the manager of the Sears tool department.

  63. sluggo42 says:

I’m with ya on Edwards tblu, Tate blowing his blocking assignment was non-defensible …

  64. “they need to play call around him. You see how pissed he was after that int, dude had his man beat.”

two quick things on that note – first one is that I agree w/the point that we should be targeting him more, period. The guy cuts an impressive figure when you see him going up for the ball. I’d be happy to see them throwing the ball more his way.

Re the other part, about Rice being all pissed after RW missed him on that play – - I know we on this board are making a bigger deal out of it that it probably is w/in the team, but I don’t think Rice’s performance has earned him the right to be all petulant about a QB missing him on a play. And it was just four days before that Wilson saw him, and hit him with a perfect pass in the most important moment of the season to date. He shouldn’t forget that, when he’s throwing a fit.

  65. gonefishin69690 says:

Hey little Jimmy. You thought THAT was rough? Wait until December 23rd in OUR house!

  66. hawkfaninoklahoma says:

    lol duke

  67. MoSeahawk12 says:

let’s see, he treats the local media like crap. Always looks to make sure he gets his way. Whines any time they have a call go against them. I cracked up when he was trying to waste a challenge to move the ball spot an inch and the refs told him that play wasn’t reviewable. He was able to get two additional challenges and timeouts by working over the replacement refs, even though we all know he knew exactly what he was doing. The guy is a tool.

  68. sluggo42 says:

Harbahahahahaha, just because you took a great team over doesn’t make you somebody. Try building one from scratch like Pete had to do.

  69. MoSeahawk12 says:

unfortunately they have beaten us three times in a row. That has to end this year with division on the line. The game in Seattle will be as loud as any. Hope to see his confused face countless times.

  70. sluggo42 says:

    Tryin Duke… Really am…

  71. Ewalters7354 says:

“Re the other part, about Rice being all pissed after RW missed him on that play – – I know we on this board are making a bigger deal out of it that it probably is w/in the team, but I don’t think Rice’s performance has earned him the right to be all petulant about a QB missing him on a play. And it was just four days before that Wilson saw him, and hit him with a perfect pass in the most important moment of the season to date. He shouldn’t forget that, when he’s throwing a fit”

I agree Rice hasn’t played up to his contract, but there are times when he barely even gets noticed. Is it because he’s not open? I don’t think so.

9 targets are his high, but against San Fran 1, like McGrath said in his link, those targets have went way down.So I can’t blame him for getting pissed.

  72. RussellWilsonIsSHORT says:

“You have got to be kidding me ACIB. Do you honestly think you can post 3 times within minutes with different names and a long entry to fool us? In reading the last string about Harbaugh/PC there were 2 comments from ACIB, then 1 in the middle from RWIS within 3 minutes, I laughed out loud.”

Wow, this logic is about as solid as the logic that lets a midget rookie start for a team that is otherwise ready to compete. See what kind of juvenile things people post just because they disagree with a non-emotional, well-reasoned opinion?

  73. Rice also ran the perfect route on that play. He’s pissed because if you watch the games, Rice is beating his man alot of the times and RW never even looks his way, not just the 9er games. Play calling or RW, it needs to change.

  74. MoSeahawk12 says:

amen sluggo42. I get so sick of the media saying that we are trying to build our team the way that Harbone and the 9ers have. Hello, Pete’s on year three with a complete blow up and rebuild. This team was a disaster and lacking talent everywhere. Harhar walked into a team stocked with five years of top five draft picks. If Singletary had a coaching clue, the 9er’s would have won many playoff games with the talent they had and the severe lack of talent the rest of the NFC West had during his time there. Jim boy walked into vegas with house money.

  75. Did everyone else see that little cloud of dust when Obamanu tripped? It was clear on the replay.

  76. Even on broken routes.

  77. Another thing that was funny was Kapernick, that dude got f’ed up, that gave it to Jimmy some with his arogance of tryin act like we’re the Jets or something.

  78. “Rice also ran the perfect route on that play. He’s pissed because if you watch the games, Rice is beating his man alot of the times and RW never even looks his way, not just the 9er games. Play calling or RW, it needs to change.”

I guess what I’m saying is that it always rubs me the wrong way when receivers get all demonstrative and po’d about not getting the ball when they think they should – whether it’s TO, Shockey, or Michael Irvin, or other guys. And i’m not saying Rice is one of those guys. Just feels very me-first. And b/c they aren’t playing QB, they don’t always know all the things that are going on during a given play. That’s all.

  79. EastCoastFan51 says:

harbaugh is a total tool who did nothing in his career in the nfl….he’s a guy that you can love to hate and the way he thinks he is top dog in the nfl is a joke…like someone stated earlier he inherited a top team that just needed direction. wait a few years with no top draft picks and his team aging lets see him build a winner then.

  80. DanielleMND says:

Great. Now ACIB has a sockpuppet to play with. Hey, it’s always nice to have someone to agree with you, even if it’s yourself.

  81. MoSeahawk12 says:

Link to Harbaby’s complaints. He’s trying to improve his chances when they come to Seattle. He knows they barely got out of last weeks game with the win and knows his team will be in trouble in Seattle. Whine bag.

    http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcwest/post/_/id/79095/no-offense-but-defense-not-meant-to-be-nice

    http://blogs.sacbee.com/49ers/archives/2012/10/harbaugh-denies-trying-to-gilbride-the-seahawks.html

  82. GeorgiaHawk says:

Dukeshire- I , like you, ( and I do like you, lol) are tired of the degenerated down fall of this blog, however I expect that after the season this blog will come back to what I hoped it would be right now.

BTW- You, ( not meaning you Dukeshire ) can’t blame me for contributing to this in the last two threads.

  83. Dukeshire says:

Lol. Not at all, my friend. Same thread. Different day…

  84. I feel like I should rant about losing Hutch, how bad I can’t stand Sims/Spencer, Ruskell signing old free agents, T-Jack, or the officiating in SB XL.

But I’m going to keep playing my guitar by the fire.

    lol

  85. Reading comments on f-ball sites around the internet – seems like a lot of people didn’t like Carroll’s on-field reaction to the end of the Packers game? To which I ask, what exactly did they expect him to do? Who doesn’t celebrate a successful hail mary win?

There are a surprisingly high number of people who just hate the guy, and find a way to view everything he does negatively.

  86. Screensmoke says:

That’s because he’s a west coast guy whose Trojans dominated college football for a few years. Those east coast bias clowns don’t like that at all. Especially down south!

  87. GeorgiaHawk says:

BobbyK-Wasn’t it Hutch that Johnson ran behind for his 89 yard td yesterday? And wasn’t it great to see Hasselbeck work some magic at the end of the game?
    Just like old times.

Screensmoke- The SEC is so happy that Carroll is no longer the head coach at USC. He was their only threat to win a National championship.

  88. bbnate420 says:

Jesus, what did I tell you? IGNORE the ACID. He’s multiplying now! :-(

  89. Screensmoke says:

I agree /strong dislike for SEC but much respect G Hawk

  90. bbnate420 says:

BobbyK, playing the guitar never gets old. Pining over old times with Hutch may get discouraging. You can always get better at the guitar. There’s always a goal to reach.

  91. mojjonation says:

Holidays with the Harbaughs has to be great. John shows up and loves the whole family. Jim shows up and gets pissed off because someone beat him to the mashed potatoes.

Wasn’t it a Niner that ended Okungs season last year when a judo throw was used on him AFTER a play was over. Suck it Harbaugh. No one likes you. I bet behind closed doors even your players hate you. You just have a face people want to cut off.

Hating Harbaugh takes entirely too much energy. Honestly, the guy doesn’t't warrant it. He gets a serious dislike from me. Hate, that kind of stuff is best saved for terrorists, priests, and cub scout troop leaders.

Whoever said Harbaugh is running scared to the league hit the nail on the head. He wants to plant the seeds of doubt for when they come up here 2 days before Christmas and get beaten to a pulp. Hopefully, Ed “Guns” Hoculi will have the game and will body slam Harbaugh after he spews through those grossly yellow teef.

  92. AaronCurryIsBUST says:

“Wasn’t it a Niner that ended Okungs season last year when a judo throw was used on him AFTER a play was over.”

No, that was Trent Cole, defensive end of the Philadelphia Eagles.
