It's true that Brady is phenomenal in decision making. Rodgers is extremely good there as well. I feel that Rodgers had to move out of the pocket not because he felt some pressure, but because he had no options and it was move or get hit. Rodgers did get rid of that ball quickly when he had something or someone to dump it off to.

If Seattle can also take away Brady's options for the 1st couple seconds, then a potent pass rush could be even more effective, because Brady won't have any good options to select.

But if Seattle does make a coverage mistake, or deliberately leave a hole in the defense (counting on pressure to hide that hole) then Brady is perhaps the best there is now in finding that hole and exploiting it. (Manning would have been there but he's still getting his mojo back, and doesn't yet have the arm strength to exploit a mistake downfield.)

The big TE oriented offense is what might make it tougher for Seattle, since the big Seattle DB's won't be able to rough up those TE's as easily as most WR's. Hopefully both NE TE's will still be a bit gimpy, and a strong pass rush will give them less time to get downfield.

A guy like Rodgers may be more nimble and athletic outside the pocket than Brady, but aside from Marino, I have never watched a game in person where the QB was quicker in the pocket than Brady.
RADEoN, Carolina was averaging 122 rushing yards a game going into Sunday, which was not well below average, and the Hawks held them to 82. Part of Carolina's offensive numbers are due to the fact that the Hawks' defense just gave them a shellacking yesterday.

Smile, the Hawks aren't last in passing yards per game anymore!

"It looks like Seattle’s pass rush may have stepped up a notch, so that they can get pressure on the road as well at home."

I've noticed that too - Newton was under pressure on most of his dropbacks. Add that to our run defense, which has been great all year, and that's why we're #1 in the league right now . . .

It looks like Seattle's pass rush may have stepped up a notch, so that they can get pressure on the road as well at home. If so, perhaps Seattle can bring even more heat on Tom Brady than they did against Aaron Rodgers. And Brady isn't as mobile or nimble as Rodgers.

That will be tempered by the fact NE will run more than Green Bay in the 1st half. That might keep Irvin off the field in many situations.

If Seattle is going to take a few chances in the passing game, home is where they should be doing it.

I'm not so sure how this is such a big win. The panthers offense is way below average. I'd understand if they just completely blew them out, but they didn't.

The panthers have played 3 elite offenses this year (NYG, ATL, and NO), Their defense has allowed:

25 pts/gm (20th)
377 ypg (23rd)
127 rushing ypg (23rd)
and 249 (19th) pass ypg, which is the biggest thing for me.

just sucks watching an elite defense and running game get wasted with awful passing game playing.

I would agree that they're not going to have Wilson sling the ball around a ton, nor should they. Controlling the clock and limiting NE's possessions will be important. I think RW will ABSOLUTELY have to make NE pay if they stack the box though. Play action will be important. NE is 8th in rushing yards allowed a game and 5th in average allowed per rush. They have stout D-lineman and Mayo and Hightower in the middle. The secondary is their weakest link. NE is 30th in passing yards allowed per game. I know this statistic is skewed with teams that have the lead a lot, but they are only 3-2. Their pass defense still seems to be worse than their run defense. Hopefully, we can go Beast Mode on them and it won't matter. A defensive/ST TD or 2 would be nice as well.

I never had a big problem with Bates. I was not a fan of Knapp. I definitely agree that neither of them had very good talent when they were here.

I would agree, Bobby. People will get fixated on Wilson having to throw the ball, but the biggest weapon the Seahawks have is Marshawn Lynch, and our ground game makes life tough for any opponent. The Pats will have trouble stopping our run. We need to pound the rock for 4 quarters and force them to keep 8 in the box. Grind it out, go for the occasional explosive play, and work for turnovers. It ain't pretty, but its the way the Seahawks can beat anybody on our home field.
