  1. AaronCurryIsBUST says:

Eric, you’ve been vehemently against Flynn and pro-Wilson since day 1 even though Wilson is undersized and overmatched for the NFL. I hate you.

  2. SandpointHawk says:

Well I was going to comment about the joyful quiet before tomorrows storm but then ACiB chimed in. Aaron, instead of “I hate you” how about a simple “I don’t care for that?”

  3. tacomahawk73 says:

Lol. I hate your face, stoopid head!!! Talk about being undersized.

  4. ACIB: Dude, really? I think I’ve been more than patient with many of your comments over the years, but this is really as much as I can take. I don’t like to come in here and micromanage the comments section because I don’t believe The News Tribune is paying me to babysit grown men and their ability to put complete sentences together without attacking people.

But if this is the level of criticism we’re going to generate here, then I will come in and regulate.
ACIB, consider yourself put on notice. If you can’t comment without attacking myself or others on the blog, you will be banned from commenting.
Others who want to act like a pimply-faced 14-year-old like ACIB, you’re also warned.

  5. GeorgiaHawk says:

    Eric, right on!

You have made this a good/fun blog imo, and you do give us alot of slack. I know you give me some as well as BobbyK and others.
However some here lately have really crossed the line and perhaps it is not some but just one or two like I suspect.

And Dukeshire come back, this blog needs you for some stability and more.

  6. If you’ve ever met Eric… you’d know the phrase “I hate you” is about as dumb as the guy who once said that we should trade Seneca for a 1st round pick (when he was set to become a FA and the trading deadline had passed).

ACIB – For the record, I have never known Eric to be publicly pro-Wilson or anti-Flynn. He’s even said that if they could manage the Jackson/pec situation last year that they could/should do it with Flynn (elbow) if that would give this team a chance.

Yes, I can get over the top and Georgia has too (he’d admit, I think) with the Wilson stuff this past pre-season. As many others have.

I love this blog, especially being in an area of the country that could care less about the Hawks. It’d be easier if some of us weren’t so passionate about topics that we care about (grown men, to top it off) but it is what it is.

I could say something I think is nice, but then someone like Stevos will come along to tempt me so I’ll take the bait and then say something stupid again and the cycle repeats itself (like earlier today)…

We need some wins!!! Starting tomorrow!!! With Wilson or Flynn, I don’t care which!!! That takes care of a lot!!!

  7. montanamike2 says:

ACIB- Aaron Curry is a bitch.
    And long gone.

  8. GeorgiaHawk says:

BobbyK- Yes I was over the top with Wilson in preseason. I just wanted him to have a fair chance to compete, however, ( I’m a reactor sometimes), and I saw too much negative stuff thrown his way, so I tried to jump on his bandwagon, ( that was already full ).

I like to have fun here on this blog, Silly song parodies ect… however the bottom line is, (like almost all bloggers here ), I want this team to be very good, and very successful. Really that’s all we want.

  9. This is a leading edge blog, with a lot of smart people contributing. I’m amazed at how articulate so many of the contributors are. Sometimes, though, it’s hard to know exactly what tone of voice a comment is meant to come across in. “I hate you” could be a joke in one tone of voice. Unfortunately, there’s no voice, just cold print. So we should make an effort to maintain some level of decency and if there’s a need to “attack,” it should always be the comment, not the commentator that bears the brunt of the attack. There are a lot of passionate fans on this blog. But we’re all on the same team, right?

  10. I agree. I could care less if it’s Wilson or Flynn (even if I think Flynn is better for now; but growing with Wilson may be best long-term)… I just want to win. I was over the top with Jackson b/c I “knew” we could never win it all with him (IMO). At least Flynn/Wilson have potential, which is something I never thought with that guy from last year.

  11. Palerydr says:

Nice post Eric. Note to self don’t piss off the big man

  12. GeorgiaHawk says:

    Palerydr- Lol.

    BobbyK- Agree.

  13. Skavage says:

Nice to see some action from Eric. He shouldn’t have to, but between ACIB and one other poster, things have really taken a turn for the worse on the best Hawks blog in town. Time to get our attention back where it belongs….Carolina.

I’ll start with some simple well wishes for the entire team. Hope ya all come home with three things.

    1. Your health
    2. Your dignity
    3. A win

  14. My prediction for tomorrow:

I’m going to root like hell for Wilson to kick ass. I hope he can go for 200+ yards and some TDs in a WIN.

If he’s 6-12 with no TDs and a pick or two at the half, I ain’t gonna lie, I’m going to be clamoring for Flynn.

    Anything for a “W.” Now.

If that makes me a 1950s communist or a terrorist of today, then I’ll play the part of the villain.

  15. GeorgiaHawk says:

My prediction is 4 turnovers and a much needed road win.

  16. Real Rob Report: enjoyable as always. My favorite part was Bruce Irvin’s cameo.

  17. As long as it’s a win…

  18. AKSeahawk12 says:

Thank You Eric! long time reader (Sando days) here first time putting my 2 cents in. I read this quote awhile back
“Never get into an argument with an idiot they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience”
Something to think about before you start burning up the keyboard.

  19. Soggybuc says:

Right on Eric! you have done a great job in letting the comments section remain a sandbox environment for us kiddies but Acib and a few other have been trying to ruin it for us all lately.

  20. That was a very polite smack-down from the Big E. He’s always managed this blog with class, and I’d expect nothing less.

And Georgia, I hope you don’t ever posting your silly song parodies or your overly-optimistic posts. After all, this is a GAME we are talking about here.

    Go Seahawks!

  21. *I hope you don’t ever stop posting your…

  22. chrisj122 says:

Wow, I know I have gone back and forth with a few on the blog and at times the debate digressed to a point I wished it hadn’t but just to say you hate someone is over the top ridiculous.

The QB debate gets people more crazy than usual because we are very passionate about our team but lets keep a level head.

Good job Eric. Another should be banned as well. (Hint) his User name is a direct insult to a long time poster on here who has done nothing but offer an opinion, knowledge and insightfull information.

  23. Eric–Wow. Thank you so much. Youre the best. ACIB has been trolling hard lately, and needed that. I sincerely hope a few others take note. And to top it off, you were polite.

We should all consider ourselves schooled in the arts of patience and smackdowns.

If I had pursued my interest in sports writing, I would have wanted to be a reporter/writer like Eric.

I wont be watching the game today–Im going to spend some quality time actually playing with my son—who doesnt really “get” football yet. Perhaps its time some others took a step back from their passion; if it isnt fun, then why do it? Right now, watching Seattle isnt fun for me, and my son needs my attention more than I need to swear and yell at a TV screen…

    Go Hawks!

  24. Sparky12 says:

Thanks Eric! Just like a group of adolescents left alone in the house, the blog has been getting a bit out of hand. I have always enjoyed the Seahawks Insider and many of the “patrons” of this site offer excellent and thoughtful comments. But of late, it has been sliding into name calling and ignorance. Glad to see you are on top of it.

And Dukeshire, I too would like to see you return.

  25. Chris wrote: “Good job Eric. Another should be banned as well. (Hint) his User name is a direct insult to a long time poster on here who has done nothing but offer an opinion, knowledge and insightfull information.”

I second that. Duke, this blog wouldn’t be the same without you.

STTBM, I admire your willpower and your devotion to your son. My wife and I got into an argument because she accepted a dinner invitation during the Seahawks game and she thinks it’s rude if I try to follow the game through the Internet at someone else’s house. Well, it’s going to be hard for me not to follow it. Thankfully one of the hosts is a sports fan and will understand my “addiction,” as my wife calls it. (As I keep telling her, there are a lot worse things to be addicted to.)

  26. Sparky12 says:

For the record, I flagged a comment made by the very insulting User name spin-off of the above mentioned long time contributor here, and stated in the flagged comment section that I found it to be offensive and un-acceptable. I had not wished to add any comments here since that “User” started his ignorant posts. and in fact quit reading Seahawks Insider for a number of days as I was disgusted with the direction it had taken. But I retuned as I missed the many here who post comments worth reading.

Eric, I too would also request that this insulting “User” name spin-off be banned immediately as it is directly a aimed at this long time contributor and his worthwhile contributions to this blog.

Glad to see may others feel the same way! Duke, hope you are still out there!

  27. GeorgiaHawk says:

Can’t wait for the game to start.
Comparing Wagner and Kuechly will be fun too.

    Go Seahawks!!!!!

  28. montanamike2 says:

Good morning- it’s game day and i’m pumped up.
Calling ACIAB a b**** was my only insult ever on this blog, i apologize for that and hopefully the first post of the day won’t include the words ” i hate you”. Even dogs know not to bite the hand that feeds them, enough said.
I love this blog, that’s why i’ve followed it for years and have seen trolls keep many fine people away, the same guys keep popping up here and there to piss everyone off, glad to see Eric put his foot down.
STTBM one day we’ll hook up in Helena for a game when you’re there. If i’m welcome i’ll even fly to Portland for the weekend. If more fans lived around here i’d even invite them to my end of the world party on Dec. 21.
Like i said yesterday, this blog is what we make it.

  29. DreadHawks says:

For those of you that don’t know, when Eric isn’t workin his but off to bring us the latest on our beloved Seahawks, he’s a Ninja. So I would be careful not to piss him off.

  30. Dukeshire says:

Eric, Thank you! It’s a shame it’s come to this, but you are 100% right. I can think of a couple trolls that ought to get broken off.

Sparky12 – Thank you, as well. Yes I’m here.

  31. Dukeshire says:

Actually, after reading through the posts here, thanks to many others as well. This is our blog, and it is what we make it.

  32. DFloydd says:

Hooray Eric! and YAY Duke is back! Now just need a convincing win today from our beloved Seahawks! I’d really like to see Steve Smith cry again like he did after the 2005 NFC Championship game the ‘Hawks were underdogs at home in the playoffs and went out and thoroughly spanked Carolina. But today I’ll just take a win with some kind of offense effort. :)

  33. montanamike2 says:

Nice to have you back Duke.

  34. Dukeshire says:

Lol. Thanks. A good performance by Wilson and a win today will do wonders for the tone of the comments.

  35. hawkfaninoklahoma says:

    welcome back Duke.

  36. Palerydr says:

Welcome back Duke I’ve always appreciated your responses to my questions. I respect your opinions even when I disagree with them. I also would like to throw in a vote to ban the IP address of the poster mocking Duke.

  37. krieg17 says:

I never post on this blog because of the high school type of crap that goes on. Hopefully he stays away! I too won’t be watching the game today but only because in Idaho apparently 2nd rate soccer brings in better ratings than a seahawks game.

    GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  38. Sparky12 says:

Welcome back Dukeshire, and the least I could do! Glad to see so many here were fed up with the recent posts. I’m sure some days Eric must just shake his head.

Hoping the emphasis on 3rd down performance in practice this week, O-line stability, and Baldwin’s presence give us a victory today. Patriots and SF next up, so “it’s now time” !

  39. chuck_easton says:

While I’ll be watching today’s game as always, I’m in a self imposed time out.

Win or lose I can’t post anything until at least Wednesday after the aroma therapy, the medications, and the visit to my happy place have all kicked in.

  40. montanamike2–Yeah, the last game I caught in Helena the whole bar was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. No cheering aloud. Hell, I felt I had to order beer in a whisper! There arent many places you can holler and watch football it seems! But it would be great to get together and watch the Hawks! Hopefully, they win today and start playing well on offense.

If Im in the area for Christmas I will let you know–I may just drive out your way. What are you planning for your end of the world shindig?

  41. montanamike2 says:

Lots of beer drinking, ping pong, music and food, whatever anybody wants.
Yeah i’d drive up to watch a game with you next time your in Helena absolutely.

  42. NYHawkFan says:

Eric – Thank you for your level-headed response to the provocative “pimply-faced 14-year-old like ACIB” (your words). Many of of us feel that your smack down is long over due. In fact, many would say he’s received enough of a warning already, boot him from the blog now, as he’s just a troll trying to get a reaction.
