Eric, you know how we used to hear about coaches or the team picking up Kam’s fines for those hits last year? How is that any different than the Saints’ “bounty” ??

  2. Dukeshire says:

Hope you don’t mind my 2 cents here, but the Saints were using cash to incentivize their players to injure or otherwise take players out of games. Greg Williams talked about paying money to take out Crabtree’s ACL, and break Vernon Davis’ ankles, and so on. Players can be fined for hits that have nothing to do with intentionally injuring another player.

  3. I’ve always thought that it wouldn’t be a bad thing for teams to pick up the fines for big hits that were not flagged during a game or otherwise were not “flagarant”. Yes that’s hard to define but when some kid is making the league minimum or close to it, a $21k fine can be a big chunk of salary to lose and you don’t want them shying away from big hits because of that.

  4. iHateHarbaugh says:

Right Duke, but if the NFL proves that the team or coaches or whoever else is paying the fines for the player… It’s a pretty strong parallel IMO

  5. iHateHarbaugh says:

It was just a rumor, it just got me thinking yesterday with all the Tate fine talk
