It’s back.

Welcome to the third annual Seahawks Insider pick ‘em contest.

You can sign up right here.

Just like last year, we’ll throw out your worst week. And we’re picking up straight up winners here, so you don’t have to worry about point spread.

And this season we’ll make it interesting by offering a prize pack to the winner at the end of the year.

And yes, I am picking Oakland over San Diego in the Monday night game for Week 1.

  1. Skavage says:

Got my picks in. 5 more days until Az!

  2. jboard1 says:

reports are coming out that Lynch may not play in Arizona…damn

  3. Skavage says:

Yeah I just heard the same thing from Danny Oneil on KJR. They were specualting that it may very well be just gamesmanship to make Az think about other runningbacks but frankly it leaves me a bit concerned. That said I think Turbin has the ability to fill in very well and if we have to toss in a touch of Leon and a sprinkle of Lumpkin I think we’ll be ok for a game. But please let’s hope Marshawn is good to go long term and beyond football!

  4. jchawks08 says:

Ugh.. I have Lynch on my fantasy team and I’m going to need those 25.6 projected points!! Come on Lynch! Hit the massage parlor with Montanamike! Get them kinks worked out.

  5. jboard1 says:

Agreed. Hopefully it is a tactic or just precaution for the rest of the season, but he is our beast, and we will need him for the long haul this season. I also have him on my FF team and am expecting him to be my workhorse. I hope he gets back soon and is healthy for the year.

  6. montanamike2 says:
  7. Cornutt says:

    Tied for first place!!! ;)

  8. Cornutt says:

Btw, how’d your draft go, Duke?

  9. Dukeshire says:

Not bad. I got the ‘Hawks D / ST and Robert Turbin, toward the end. Fortunately those were the only two Seahawks I ended up with. I had Baldwin and Rice quede up, but they were taken. I can still get Wilson off waivers (at least as of this morning).

  10. Seahawks2620 says:

I will be pissed off if lynchs back is an ongoing thing. Lynch is obviously one of the toughest guys on this team, but nothing gets me more than a guy striking a deal and than not fulfilling it. Egh, whatever maybe I’m just in a pissed off mood.

  11. Soggybuc says:

Well a rub and a tug might be what he needs but then again sure never hurts anyone.

  12. mocarob says:

    I’m picking Oakland too Eric..

  13. Dukeshire says:

Lynch had the same back issues last season and they managed it well. Until there’s a real to be alarmed, I’m willfully presuming the situation is the same.

  14. NFLshop.com has custom Jerseys available they are the official site anyway

  15. Cornutt says:

Yeah, I have 3 Seahawk fans in one of my leagues so I can always count on them over-valuing them. Which is a bummer since I never get and ‘Hawks–but winning is nice too. :)

  16. I’m still trying to figure out why I can’t get Wilson jerseys on the Seahawks site? But I can “order” Flynn. Yes, I’m impatient. At least start the pre-orders!

Duke – Lynch (backed up by Turbin much later), Murray, P. Manning (top 3) the other night. It worked! lol

  17. please, enough of the fantasy football comments. This blog isn’t about fantasy football, imaginary friends, or barbie dolls. I’m sure there are plenty of other blogs to discuss fantasies. This blog is about live Seattle Seahawks football.

Lynch not practicing so far this week is a troubling sign. There is no other single player on this team so crucial to the team’s success. I believe we can beat AZ without him, but I don’t believe we can have a playoff season without him. I hope he can manage that bad back.

  18. Dukeshire says:

Whoa Stevo! I’ll remember that if / when you ever choose to discuss power rankings or mock drafts. Oh wait, I already criticize those. lol. Yeah, you’re probably right.

  19. GeorgiaHawk says:

    Stevos- thanks.

I was wondering myself where all this fantasy crap was coming from when we are about to have one of the best Seahawk teams ever play for a chance to go deep into the playoffs. Makes no sense to me.

  20. Dukeshire says:

They do have replica jerseys to customize, but no authentic game jerseys. Seattle is one of the only teams that is still an unavailable option.

  21. Dukeshire says:

Whoa Georgia! (2.0) One of the best Seahawk teams ever…? No one has been more on board with what Carroll has been doing here than I. And yes, that takes into consideration the QB situations (which I would love to believe is now solved, but we’ll see). But you’re jumping the gun here. This team’s potential is exciting, no question, but they’ve proven nothing yet. Let alone show they are better than ’83,’84,’86, or ’05 teams. Also, all the fantasy talk is in reference (primarily) to Seahawk players. I’m not trying to simply be a contrarian to anything you say. I’m really not, and I will leave alone the Wilson talk because ultimately I do want him to succeed. But this statement here is far too egregious to leave alone. I’m sorry, but let’s take thing a bit slower. Let’s revisit “one of the best Seahawk teams ever” three months from now and see where they are.

  22. makuzas says:

JS/PC have built this team with depth. No one player will dictate how the team performs. Turbin will step in admirably if needed. I’m looking for a big game for the Hawks. With or without Beast Mode. BUT, I would certainly prefer him to play.

  23. ruminator1 says:

seems to me mentioning Seahawks drafted for Fantasy ought to be within the realm of a Seahawks blog. discussing fantasy results and strategies–probably not.

  24. Dukeshire says:

BTW, that picture must be when Red chipped his front tooth. Lol

  25. GeorgiaHawk says:

Dukeshire- I said one of the best, and I believe it. Don’t you agree that we have the best secondary ever? And one of the best running games ever? And it’s hard to argue that our D-line isn’t one of the best we have had at stopping the run. In fact our defense now is so much better than the defense we had in 2005.
What it all comes down to, imo is,( hide the women and children) is the qb play. Lets just see how this plays out.

  26. montanamike2 says:

Not that pre season counts, but didn’t we do alright in running the ball for all 4 games without very much Lynch. God forgive we ever lose our franchise player.i agree that we can still have a sucessful season but not a playoff run. He’ll be ok, i think there’s a couple more years of tread in those tires. He’s had back spasms his whole career, that’s why we brought in Turbin if he misses the odd game.

  27. GeorgiaHawk says:

How in the Hell did the Raiders manage to get on Monday Night Football?

  28. Soggybuc says:

Don’t panic until you see the official injury report tomorrow.

I decided to forego playing FFB this year, so far seems like a good move because now i can just relax and focus on what really matters. Win’s and losses!

  29. I never knew that talking about drafting Seahawk players in fantasy didn’t have to do with the Seahawks. I’m not sure that’s any different than writing some stupid song about Eldorado, which I and others have done with respect to the Seahawks.

  30. Dukeshire says:

Georgia – This particular team has proven nothing yet. I’m not going to get into a whole thing here, but the short story is I do not agree. And before puts words are put in my mouth, I’m not suggesting this team cannot become one of the best Seahawk teams ever, they may very well. I see the potential, but they are not yet. Only time can determine that. The ’84 d line have 34 sacks alone. That year’s secondary had 28 picks. 28! What I’m saying is that optimism is one of the best of things, but potential isn’t results. This group is not yet anything. Let’s watch them prove it on the field before they are anointed anything. Least of all compare them to proven greatness. At least that’s my view.

  31. Dukeshire says:

    … puts words…? lol

  32. Soggybuc says:

It’s why you play the game and ring’s don’t get handed out by how good you look on paper.

  33. montanamike2 says:

I’m drinking the kool aid but i understand some of your guys skeptism, this team has broken many hearts over the years, you get your homer glasses on and then 5-11 or 6-10. There is hope for optimism though because we’ve never had this kind of FO. PC is for realz on the win forever thing and they completely tore down a bad football team and put what they had envisioned together in only a couple of years. We also appear to have depth as well which is extraordinary by itself.
Players want to come here and play for Pete!

  34. Soggybuc says:

I’m super enthusiastic for the team this year and I expect a big year. but, this is the NFL and it comes down to 60 minutes a week for 17 weeks. any thing can happen. there is only one winner and 31 losers every season.

  35. pabuwal says:

All this team needs to do is go 10-6 or better and beat 2+ teams on the road that finish with a winning record to be one of the greatest Seahawks teams of all time.

As far as I can tell, no Seahawks team has ever accomplished this feat (but I could be wrong).

  36. Duke, I’m guilty as charged. For me, mock drafts are like car wrecks. They’re horrible yet I cannot look away. But as silly as mock drafts and power rankings may be, at least they are focused on actual football teams.

Fantasy football is annoying because it distracts from football. People root for a player here and a player there who aren’t even playing together on the same team… its utter nonsense. It completely misses the point of what football IS – the ultimate TEAM game.

ah well, go ahead… enjoy your fantasy-madden-whatever…

Guess I’ll go put on my leather helmet now.

  37. bbnate420 says:

Just beat the Tards with the Hawks in Madden 13. Without Lynch playing. ;-)

  38. SandpointHawk says:

I have no problem with fantasy football….until you start rooting for a bozo on the opposing team to score because he’s on your FFT. As long as you can keep the live separate from the fantasy all is good.

  39. GeorgiaHawk says:

Dukeshire- My view on this team is that they have done far more than nothing in the last two years. Just in their first year the FO has taken a team from the sorry end of the Holmgren/Ruskell era and some how found a way to make it to and beat the world champs in the playoffs. Now that may mean nothing to you, however it means alot to me.

Last year I believe this team would have been back into the playoffs if they had good qb play.

Now this year we have a good qb and a young good team that keeps getting better. To say they have done nothing is like saying that all Seahawk teams have done nothing because none of them have SuperBowl rings.

And they have done this all, (in a short time) while rebuilding from one of the worst talented teams in Seahawk history.
    That’s impressive to me.
Sure they have a ways to go, but they certainly have done alot more than nothing, and hopefully they will end up doing more than any Seahawk team has ever done.
Maybe the weather has something to do with this lack of optimism I see here from time to time.Lol.

  40. Dukeshire says:

Georgia – I’m optimistic, that has nothing to do with it. In fact, I agree with most everything you wrote in your last post. As I’ve said here and on multiple other threads, I love what Carroll is doing and has done with this franchise. And you’re right, to turn this whole thing around in less than three years is remarkable. But, that doesn’t change the fact “this particular team”, and that’s the crux of this conversation, has yet to accomplish anything. Let alone to be considered one of the best teams in franchise history. Again, the potential for greatness seems to be here. I haven’t been this excited for a season to get under way since 2004. But until this team, and Carroll’s regime as a whole, proves it on the field, comparing them to the shallow pool of great Seahawk teams is presumptuous, IMO.

  41. Dukeshire says:

pabuwal – You are correct. Of the 5 Seahawk teams in history to finish with 10 or more wins in a season, none have beaten two teams on the road, in a given season, that finished with a winning record.

  42. pabuwal says:

I think dropping it down to 9-7 gives us 2 Seahawks teams that beat 2+ teams on the road that finished with winning records – 1979 and 1983.

  43. montanamike2 says:

I wonder if we’ll make any more transactions today.

  44. GeorgiaHawk says:

That’s just amazing to me how pretty much all the Seahawk teams have struggled on the road, even the best ones.
Even if they can win half their games on the road they could be in great playoff position.

One thing you could say about this regime is that they,( arguably) have done more with less in their first two years then any other one we have had. That includes Knox and Holmgren. That counts for something in my book moving forward.

  45. GeorgiaHawk says:

OK, I propose a new NFL rule. If a team goes 4-0 in the pre season they get a credit of one regular season win. Lol.

Man, my palms are already sweating and it isn’t even game time yet!

  46. chuck_easton says:

    So Stevos,

I can’t talk about my invisible six foot tall rabbit named Harvey? Darn, and he really wanted to meet all of you. :)

  47. sluggo42 says:

I personally don’t care what the FF players do, just as long as they do it somewhere else, except to talk about Hawk players they might have. This team is one of the best we have ever had, since Mora anyways, and perhaps other than a few other years too. At least that’s what I choose to believe until a loss and an exposure of a weakness is exposed by somebody… But today, we have no weaknesses

  48. GeorgiaHawk says:

    Lol Chuck!

Fantasy talk is OK so long as we can have song parodies, nick names, power rankings, mock drafts, and Bleachereport.
Let us have all that back and I will promise not to mention his name for at least two weeks. Lol.

  49. Dukeshire says:

Have all that back? They’ve been here the entire time.

  50. bird_spit says:

All I want is the stats guy back..what up klm, switched teams?
