As expected, it didn’t take long for former Seattle Seahawks tight end Kellen Winslow to find a potential suitor after Seattle released him over the weekend.
Per Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com, Winslow is headed to New England for a visit.
This move makes sense because of how much two tight-end sets are a focal point of the Patriots’ offense. New England already signed Rob Gronkoswki and Aaron Hernandez to lucrative contract extensions, so bringing in Winslow adds insurance in case one of those two productive tight ends suffers an injury
Former Vikings tight end Visanthe Shiancoe, who Seattle showed interest in during free agency, also is on New England’s roster.
An added bonus for Winlsow is he gets to play against the team that spurned him when the Patriots travel to Seattle for a Week 6 matchup on Oct. 14.
