Here’s the roster for this weekend’s rookie minicamp.

A few interesting names among the players trying out include former St. Louis offensive tackle Alex Barron, a first-round pick of the Rams, selected No. 19 overall in the 2005 draft. Former University of Washington linebacker E.J. Savannah, and Eastern Washington University defensive tackle Renard Williams.

Also, some of these numbers are duplicates or guys on the 90-man roster in order to make sure everyone has a jersey, so don’t assume anything by the numbers players are given.

Crosses finger for no one getting hurt! Good luck to all the guys! Work hard and Play harder!

  2. bird_spit says:

    Wow..bigger than I would ever have expected…

  3. chuck_easton says:

Rookie camp is the ultimate tryout. Of those 98 or so names maybe 20 to 25 will still be around VMAC come next week.

3 days to try and outshine the other 90 something bodies that are also out there trying to make an impression.

    Ouch.

  4. Strategicdust says:

Keep an eye on Austin Cassidy, the safety from Nebraska. Good instincts, a great tackler and was always around the ball.

  5. RDPoulsbo says:

Wow, 54 players. That really is a minicamp. A lot more going on than I was thought.

  6. JMSeaTown says:

Went to Junior High with EJ, he played on the jv team and was a little guy. Pretty cool watchin him grow up. That’d be a pretty sweet story if the local guy made the cut.

  7. Dukeshire says:

Agrees RD. I would venture a guess that this is the biggest rookie camp Seattle’s ever had, by plenty.

  8. owenbytheway says:

Keep your eyes on Pierre Allen.

He was having a good camp last year before he was injured.

    Nebraska DL deluxe.

And Carson Wiggs, K, could beat out Hauschka.

  9. how in the world does Alex Barron qualify for a ‘rookie camp? lol He had a six year career that reminds me a lot of Aaron Curry – drafted too high, showed promise as a rookie, then got worse every year he played until the Rams got rid of him.

You guys remember Barron – he’s the bum that Darryl Tapp abused for 4 sacks in one game in 2007 (Tapp had his broken hand in a cast at the time).

  10. chuck_easton says:

It’s a camp for drafted rookies, signed UDFAs and players in for tryouts. The tryout group can be rookies or out of work vets.

  11. Alex Barron was/is worthless and all reports ever have been that he’s a moron, too.

  12. mocarob says:

“Alex Barron was/is worthless and all reports ever have been that he’s a moron, too”

    Really? Was that necessary?

  13. It was a rhetorical question I asked. I suppose I should have asked why he was invited to the rookie camp. I believe the answer is that they needed an extra punching bag to fill in at OT.
