2005 leagues most valuable player (Alexander)...yes a testament to our OL, but Alexander was king at making something out of nothing, sliding through holes that would otherwise have been a broken play.. He was smart as hell that when the play went right, and no hole developed, he would slide left to the comfort zone and vice versa..defenses would stack the left side, so he would run for daylight.. By 2006, not much spirit was left on the OL, and injuries took any magic away.

More people need to give the guy his due. Once injured, he was never the same. But in his prime, play the guy as your number one RB.

2012... Marshawn (Beast Mode)...Mr Skittle. Two very different run games..

My comparison to 2005 and now is simple.

2005 - Veteran team, solid throughout (except DB...)

2012 - Huge, wicked fast, athletic, young.

As BobbyK said, two entirely differnt teams.

The 2005 team was like eating comfort food every Sunday. No worry, just sit back and enjoy.

This team is going to require the FO to install portable defibrillator machines in every section of the stadium. Nothing will be easy, but it's going to be a wild ride to the finish.

I think this team has a chance to be great, don't get me wrong, but I don't think there are many comparisons.

That team had a QB etched in stone. We have hope that we have our QB of the future but neither of them have yet gone through the growing pains that someone like Hasselbeck had experienced by the start of '05.

That team had one of the greatest left sides to an OL the league has ever seen and then two old warriors at C and RG that really gave the unit the all important factor of continuity. We really have no continuity coming back on our OL with respect to each projected starter having a lot of starts right next to the person they will be lined up with next year. That team rode it's offensive line, good QB play, and great run game to the Super Bowl. That meant its defense didn't need to be as good as our defense of this year. This years defense will be better than '05, but it has to be, too, because of the inexperience at QB and the line not being as settled.

Really, these are two totally different teams. Both will have had a great RB running the ball, starting rookie MLBs, but there aren't too many similarities, IMO.

How do think this squad compares to the 2005 sqaud on paper? IMO our secondary is stronger, LB is untested, not sure about D-line. Offensive line my never again be as strong as 2005, but if Carp and Okung can get healthy we might see something close. Quarterback play remains the x-factor. I'm hoping Flyn comes in and just puts up ProBowl numbers. What do you think?

It's easy to write off T-Jack, and while I'm not a big fan of his as a starter (I think he's earned the respect of his teammates, and really played his tail off - just doesn't have that extra bit you need) I can see why PC might actually want him in there. He protects the ball, and doesn't make too many big blunders. He's a pretty decent fit as a game manager in a ball control offense. I'm sure some of you have your favorite T-Jack misread or bad pass from last season, but I really think overall the ball is pretty safe in his hands... especially if you're perfectly happy with 3-and-outs. I'm not advocating him as a starter next season, I just think PC and co. haven't written him off yet.

"I’m really excited about Wagner. Worst case scenario, he’ll make a very solid Will ‘backer, but I’m hoping he’ll be this year’s Wright. That is, start right from the get-go (at MLB)."

Me too. A 4-yr starter who leads the team in tackles 3 yrs running, and runs in the 4.4s at 240 lbs? Will be fun to see him in the middle of things.

I find myself rooting for Russell Wilson, but I also want Flynn to succeed. So what happens if they're both really good QBs (yes, it would be a nice problem to have). In that scenario, you'd have to eventually trade one of them, I suppose.

Yes, I know I'm jumping the gun. The chances of both being great are slim. Chances are, if Flynn is great, Wilson won't get much a chance to show how good he is and he'll sit on the bench for a couple of years. One thing's for certain (in my mind at least): TJack won't be starting this year.

Yes, how dare Turbin not sign and be here for rookie camp!

Oh wait, most rookies that attend this camp historically have not signed yet and are insured against injury.

It's only since the new CBA that we are seeing so many early signings.

I assume Turbin will be in attendance this weekend.

He is only barred from attending training camp unless he's signed. If we are still having this conversation in July then there's a problem
