The run of defensive players continues for the Seattle Seahawks, with the team selecting Kentucky strong safety Winston Guy in the sixth round at No. 181 overall.

Guy likely will compete for a backup job behind Kam Chancellor at strong safety for Seattle, along with contributing on special teams.

Guy ran a 4.53 40-yard time at his pro day, posted a 36-inch vertical jump and a 9-8 broad jump.

Seattle now has two picks left in the seventh round at 225 and 232.

Hawks select CB Jeremy Lane in sixth round

The Seattle Seahawks select yet another defensive player, 6-0, 190-pound cornerback Jeremy Lane out of FCS school Northwestern State.

Ran a 4.48 40-yard time.

Lane has experience in press coverage and is a track athlete, so he continues the trend of the Seahawks adding speed defensively. The Seahawks have now selected five defensive players in this year’s draft.

Hawks selected Idaho linebacker Korey Toomer with the team’s 154th overall choice in the fifth round

Toomer’s a freakish athlete. He ran 4.53 and 4.55 40-yard times at his pro day, and posted a 42-inch vertical jump.

Seattle has now selected two linebackers in this year’s draft, and continues to improve the speed at that position.

Hawks select Utah State RB Robert Turbin in 4th round

Well, many of you called this one. The Seattle Seahawks selected Utah State running back Robert Turbin with the team’s 106th overall pick in the fourth round.

At 5-10, 222 pounds, Turbin is a bowling ball of a running back who should serve as a nice complement to spell Marshawn Lynch.

And again, if you followed Rob Rang’s positional analysis this week, he’s pretty much called all of these picks.

Morning links: Day 3 of the draft

Good morning. We just arrived at the VMAC. Sorry, but because of the fast pace of today’s draft we won’t be running a live chat.

But we’ll provide you the latest updates of what’s happening today. Seattle has seven picks in rounds four through seven. I’d be surprised if they use them all, but we’ll see.

Seattle has two picks in the fourth round (106 and 114), one in the fifth (154), two in the sixth (172 and 181) and two in the seventh (225) and 232).

Also, Seattle’s first round pick defensive end Bruce Irvin arrives today, and we’ll get a chance to talk to him at about 10:15 a.m.

Here’s my story on Seattle selecting Wisconsin QB Russell Wilson. And both Pete Carroll and John Schneider talk about drafting Wilson in the video above.

Seahawks select Wisconsin QB Russell Wilson in 3rd Rd

The Seattle Seahawks select a developmental quarterback to compete for the No. 3 job with Josh Portis by drafting Russell Wilson with the No. 75 overall pick in the third round.

Wilson is the first quarterback Seattle head coach Pete Carroll has selected since he’s been with the team, and the first quarterback Seattle has selected since taking Rutgers quarterback Mike Teel in the sixth round of the 2009.

Seattle is done for today unless they trade back up in the end of the third round.

Seattle Seahawks select Utah State LB Bobby Wagner

The Seattle Seahawks select Utah State linebacker Bobby Wagner with the No. 47 pick in the second round.

Seattle originally had the No. 43 pick in this round, but traded four spots down with the N.Y. Jets, picking up a fifth rounder (154 overall) and a seventh rounder (232).

Wagner, at 6-0, 241 pounds, can play both inside and outside linebacker, and gives Seattle a player to compete at inside linebacker with Barrett Rudd.
