The Seahawks wrapped up the draft by selecting Louisville defensive end Greg Scruggs. At 6-4 and 298 pounds, Scruggs appeared to add more depth along the defensive line at defensive tackle and defensive end.

The Seahawks selected Scruggs with the team’s final pick of the draft at No. 232 overall in the seventh round. We should get a chance to talk to Pete Carroll and John Schneider in a little bit to wrap-up the draft.

  1. GeorgiaHawk says:

Didn’t he fall asleep drunk and hit a utility pole, than was charged with a DUI?

Did John and Pete leave the room early and let Cable make the last two picks?

  2. raymaines says:

Apparently a pretty good kid that managed to get a DUI and was booted from the team.

GeorgiaHawk..This isnt the Ruskell regime anymore where character is everything and you pick the smallest dude you can find. I like how they did.

  4. If that article is true and this kid was just caught up in the moment (geeze, he just graduated – I won’t tell you what I did the night I graduated!!!)…then we just stole a great potential player. I, for one, will be keeping my eye out for this kid’s development.

I love seeing the pattern that Pete is willing to give people a second chance. Love him or hate him, he remains true to himself and I like that man more and more each day.

  5. When I tried to look up this kid on NFL net, his page is blank. There is just a picture of a generic player with “0″ on his jersey. I hope that’s not what we got.

  6. CHawkFanIn9erLand says:

Pete and JS sure don’t seem very committed to building a great defense. If we had these guys last year we would have tied the browns 3-3. Or maybe with the running back we could have made it 10-3.

  7. He’s a great kid who keeps getting stronger, and Seattle is lucky to get him. Your defense just got better.

  8. cspring, I saw the article you posted in the wrap-up post with his apology. That was amazing. My opinion of this guy as person just shot through the roof. I hope he has as much athletic talent as he does character and integrity. This guy could be a true leader on D and the fact that he is a 7th rounder doesn’t mean anything at this point…it’s all up to him now, and I hope he is wildly successful.

I think our D did just get better…can’t wait to see this fall!!!

  9. The guy I really want us to take a shane on is Chris Owusu, WR from Stanford. The guy is good at working his man, and as a Huskies fan, I can say that with conviction. Owusu is a crisp 6 foot 196 lb receiver with tremendous hands and decent speed. He was a helluva returner for Stanford.

Owusu is a gamble because he had to sit quite a bit last year due to concussions. If it wasn’t for the concussion issues, there’s no doubt he would have been drafted. He’s a little bigger than Baldwin and equally as good at working the gaps and snagging balls. He gets a lot of YAC too.

  10. **The guy I really want us to take a CHANCE on… (auto-correct)

  11. Nevermind, he went to the Niners.

Looks like we did sign OG Rigshaw Johnson (Cal Pennsylvania). Like it. Read good things.
