Chad Reuter of NFL.com takes on the ambitious project of putting together a seven-round mock with just a day left before this year’s draft.
It’s an interesting list for the Seattle Seahawks, with Reuter selecting South Carolina DE/LB Melvin Ingram in the first round at No. 12.

Peter Schrager of Fox Sports also puts together a seven-round mock draft, and Melvin Ingram is slowly becoming the consensus choice for Seattle.
Ian Rapoport of NFL.com writes that the Seahawks are prepared to trade down if the right deal comes their way.

Danny O’Neil of the Seattle Times notes that Pete Carroll hasn’t drafted a lot of USC players since he’s been in Seattle.
Tim Booth of the Associated Press writes that the Seahawks are once again looking for late-round value in the draft.

Don Banks of Sports Illustrated offers an interesting list of diamond in the rough prospects that have piqued teams interest as possible late-round selections.
Derek Stephens of ScoutTheDraft.com lists Oklahoma receiver Ryan Broyles as one his five underrated offensive players in the draft.
For those who you who do not like mock drafts (yes Dukeshire, I’m talking to you), Gregg Eastebrook of ESPN has his annual mock draft mockery, with Kate Upton has his first choice for the Indianapolis Colts because they could use a little sex appeal.
So he (Reuter) basically just picked from players who visited/had private workouts with the team, more or less? Seems somewhat lazy, I don’t think the Seahawks will take Iloka, unless they want to play him at corner, because we are so set at that position, and just picking a backup in the 4th round do not make any sense to me. I personally have a hunch that we are going to take Chandler Jones, but knowing Pete and John, we’ll probably pick a receiver or a tight end.

pete schragers right below is a much better draft , although if you believe chandler jones is there in round 2 take decastro in round 1 and him in the second. although imgram has grown on me if he is there at 12 i am ok with that pick

That was a good read by Booth! No matter what happens in the first three rounds the FO will make things just as interesting in the middle rounds. Imo.

I also see Cordy Glenn T/G moving up, however not ahead of DeCastro.
And if we are lucky enough to have Ingram fall to us and become anything close to Aldon Smith, we will have one scary defense for other teams to contend with, imo.

Not sure how fair of a comparison Aldon Smith is to Ingram. Smith plays on the weak side in their 3-4. Ingram would play Sam here, and rotate to LDE in sub packages is Seattle’s 4-3 (nickel). But I’ll sure as hell take the 14 sacks, regardless scheme difference.

I really don’t believe the hawks are interested in Kuechly or Ingram.They just don’t seem to fit the mold of this team.I think it’s gonna be either QC,Michael Brokers or Stephen Gilmore.Those are the type of players our FO loves.Big,Physical and Unique players with superstar talent.

If BPA could rule the day, I’d want this in our 7-round draft:

In reality, I’m hoping for:
1. OG (DeCastro)
2. DE (Curry)
3. DT (Crick)
4. LB (no preference)
Of any Seahawks as 24 year olds, I’d take:
1. DT Cortez Kennedy
2. LT Walter Jones (Okung to RT)
3. LG Steve Hutchinson
4. QB Matt Hasselbeck
6. DE Jacob Green (he would have been unbelievable in a 4-3)
7. SS Kenny Easley (Lofa would have been a better fit, but I’m not passing up a chance to see my favorite player ever again either, sorry, Kam, I guess those LB rumors are true). Feel bad about passing Larget, but we kind of have a poor mans version (Baldwin).

I think we have to go LB in the 2nd! There are a lot of good LB’s that will be there in the 2nd but will probably be gone by the 3rd round! Wagner, David, Hightower?, Brown , and Kendricks! I like Kendricks very much except for the belief that he isn’t that smart and cannot run a defense. His athleticism is exceptional!!!!

I watched Chandler Jones a lot, including games at Syracuse, and I was hoping Seahawks might take a look at him as a second round possibility. But now the sportswriters have him shooting up the mock drafts as a first rounder? I love the guy but I don’t buy it. If he is available in round 2 Seahawks should draft him.

When a guy like Chandler Jones is being mentioned as a high pick now (I admit not to knowing much about him), it makes me think of math. All these supposed risers tell me that not all of them can all be gone (pass rushers) when we pick relatively early in the 2nd round. If every player who was supposed or could be a top 20 pick went in order, we’re easily going to end up with a “top 20″ pick at #43. LOL.

I saw in an article yesterday that the Hawks have two players in mind for the #12 pick. If both of those players go off the board, one would assume they’d want to trade down. It may all be a smokescreen but if true, what would be your best guess as to who the Hawks think those players are?

I would very much want a dominant pass rusher in the 1st round but, Mike Mayock, whose opinion I respect very much, says that Luke Kueckly is a tackling machine and the BEST zone pass covering LB that he has EVER scouted!!!!!!!!!

BobbyK, I hope I’m wrong but, I think we’ll be LUCKY to get Curry in the 2nd round if we wait around 4 a pass rusher! The pass rushing players are NOT deep in this draft and teams DO NOT pass up good pass rushing prospects!

I think we’ll trade down a couple spots because someone would like to get up there, and draft Jones. From what I’ve heard from Mayock and what I have seen, I think he’ll be a force in the pass rush, and a great fit here. He’s (allegedly) been working his ass off with his brother Jon Jones, who is one of the most impressive athletes I’ve ever watched, and I think his mentality would fit perfectly. Him and Kuechly are the only defensive players I would be truly stocked to see on our roster, not that I wouldn’t be very, very happy with some of the other guys, but I’ve fallen “in love” with those two guys.

Tannehill will be available, Hawks trade out and get another pick. They draft Merciles in the 1st. They Trade down in the second and grab Curry. In the 3rd they pick up Polk. In the 4th they grab a LB, 6th a QB and 7th depth at the OL.

The reason I think Tannehill will be there at 12 is because of how leary Miami was on Flynn. They will hopefully use the same caution here understanding that Tannehill was a 2nd rounder earlier this year and now all of a sudden he is supposed to be in the top 10, so they are a little skeptical and pass on him.

PC and the Schneid have spent some time letting the league know/think they love Ryan Tannehill. Today they should be holding a press conference telling everyone how much they LOVE Mark Barron and Michael Floyd – two guys who could be at 12 that a number of teams might trade up for.

georgia, lot of flaws in his thinking, the first i would point out is that fact that a guard can be key to success such as with hutch. now walt anchored that line but i feel it was the combo of walt /hutch that made the line so dominant and made the superbowl run possible.
decastro allowed one sack in 4 years at stanford just one, that is about as good as it gets. you can make all the arguements on why not to take him and bottom line they are talking about the value of an average guard not a hutch/pouncy or such. thats like trent richardson being picked in top 5 youre not talking an average back you are talking possibly the next emmit smith.
the problem i have with taking ingram or another d-lineman other than cox none project to be elite at DT?DE ingram is projected best as a 3/4 OLB. my one true hope is decastro is gone and the hawks trade down into late teens early 20′s picking up picks and still getting a pass rusher at a better value.

All players have weaknessess so it isn’t all that concerning to me.

griz i didnt know until today he was a local boy, could care less really. i stated my point for why he is the pick to make based on value and quality of player. is the player we would take in place of him really a better player? would that player have as much impact as a decastro would/should have? is the player a value at 12? now if they don’t want decastro then i think a trade down to get a value player is the best bet. my feeling most importantly has to do with who has the best chance of being a great addition to this team and produce for years.

Stevos, first off, I said that Mayock called Kueckly the best ZONE COVERAGE LB he has ever scouted. Not the BEST LB. Secondly, one of the main things people talk about with Kueckly is his intangibles so, the Curry analogy is a pretty bad one IMO. There is no guarantee that he will be a good player but, the same thing goes for EVERY player in the draft. I actually think the best move may be to take Jones or another pass rusher in the 1st and take either Kendricks, Wagner, or David in the 2nd.
