Paul Lukas of ESPN’s Uni Watch blog had this to say about the Seahawks new uniforms.

Lukas: “Your assessment of the results probably depends on (A) whether you view football as a video game played by comic book superheroes in costumes, or as a sport played by human beings in uniforms, and (B) your tolerance for neon green. Uni Watch doesn’t much care for the new look, but the team’s old look was nothing to write home about either, so it’s no great loss. In the grand scheme of things, call it a push.”

Clare Farnsworth of talks with Nike global creative director Todd Van Horne about Seattle’s uniform overall.

More Farnsworth: The Seahawks new uniform were the favorites among player from other teams in New York for Nike’s uniform unveiling.

The NFL Network offers a behind-the-scenes look from the New York uniform unveiling in this video link.

The New Orleans Saints web site offers this Q&A with newly signed linebacker David Hawthorne.

Greg Gabriel of the National Football Post breaks down ASU quarterback Brock Osweiler. With some draft experts rating Osweiler as a potential first-round pick, Gabriel doesn’t think he’s worth more than a third or fourth-round selection.

Wes Bunting of the National Football Post has Seattle selecting Illinois defensive end Whitney Mercilus in his latest mock draft.

Pat Kirwan writing for CBS Sports has Seattle selecting Boston College linebacker Luke Kuechly in his latest mock draft.

Rob Rang of also has Seattle taking Kuechly at No. 12.

I’ll say this about the uniforms: I like the blue. I like the bigger logo on the helmet (although I do not like how it’s connected). I like the “wolf grey”. But, I cannot get past the lack of logo on the sleeve (looks like a t-shirt), and the “stripe” down the pant leg is so blocky and clumsy looking. All in all, they look kind of cheap, to me. Oh well…

  2. They’re growing on me, but I wonder if I should hold out, hoping that they’ll at least add the logo back to the jersey…

  3. chuck_easton says:

The Players seem to love the new look (even players from other teams). Fans from other cities hate them. Goodell said yesterday that this was the direction the entire league was heading and Seattle is just the cutting edge.

OK, players gotta play in them so if they like them I’m ok.

And let’s be real. No matter what the Seahawks wear out on the field the national media is going to hate it because we really don’t belong in the NFL. We are not even in the Continental USA after all.

  4. hawkfaninoklahoma says:

i like mercilus more than kuechly if we’re going D in round one

  5. most striking about the new unis to me is that a bunch of teams now look almost identical. We used to look distinctive in all gun-metal blue. Nobody looked like us.

Now we’ll be “that team with the ugly green shoes and the nike patch”.

  6. SandpointHawk says:

Well we may be mistaken for Team Nike, but whatever they wear on the field I love them still and they are My Seahawks.

  7. After seeing them and chewing on it for a day, I’m in on the new unis. For the record, I also like the Ducks uniforms. In both cases, they seem to be set apart from other teams, which appeals to me.

I’m hoping the ‘Hawks have the opportunity and take Kuechly. If his instincts are as good as I’m hearing they are projected, that’s gotta be a difference maker in a league filled with increasing tight end focus by the better offenses.

  8. I can’t help thinking that Peyton Manning got an advance look at the new uni’s.

  9. Maybe if we see the Nike swoosh symbol as just another symbol of the Northwest, I can stand seeing it on the shoulder. Otherwise, it looks like we’re the Nike Seahawks, and I hate that. It stands out more because it’s against the day glo green. I agree they’re still our Hawks, no matter the uniform, but my reaction to Nike’s ubiquitous branding, attempting to “own” everything, is visceral. I will never buy another Nike product while they’ve got their brand on the shoulder (and hip?) of the Hawks uniform.

  10. chrisj122 says:

Anyone who wears a next gen. jersey is nothing more than a walking billboard for the Nike brand.

  11. Bring back the Bird on the sleeve move the swoosh to one shoulder or the pants like everyone else
We’re the Seattle Seahawks not the Nikes

  12. Blue pants blue jersey not good!every other combo looks great.wolf grey incredible! Ofcourse if we are winning me and everybody else will love them no matter what!

  13. First reveal I hated them.

I actually like them now – at least the blue is good, would I rather the logo was there instead of the swoosh sure.

I like the idea of the “wings” but not totally sold on the actual “wings”

I don’t like the ALL gray look – don’t like it at WSU don’t like it here. but it could be worse. But I like the combinations of the others and the Gray

  14. ajstorm1 says:

I guess I’ll get used to the new uni’s, OK, so they’re not the old color scheme or design that a lot of us were hoping for. But I think a big problem with them (and for me, this applies to our previous uni’s as well) is the all-one-color look. Sorry if I’m dating myself, but I prefer the jersey and pants being contrasting colors rather than being both the same. I mean, look at the Patriots, Packers, Bears, Titans, etc. Now, if they go with the look of the dark blue top and wolf grey pants for home, and flip those colors for the road, then maybe it won’t be so bad. I do think they should put the logo back on the jersey somewhere, but that’s a completely different argument. Just my 2 cents.

  15. nidhighe says:

One day later, I still don’t like the new uniforms.

  16. HarbaughsMother says:

They’re growing on me as well.

I have a feeling they’ll look pretty slick on the field, with all 11.

I like the darker blue, and I like the fact that they’ll switch it up from week to week.

It gives Seattle an advantage publicity-wise, which, considering the city’s geographical limitations, are needed to compete for marketing bucks.

    No one likes change.

But change is the only constant in life.

One day later, I’m on board with the new look.

God Bless the Seahawks, and not the 49ers.

    Later, fellas.

  17. Dukeshire says:

They won’t be able to switch it up from week to week, like U of O. NFL teams have to have a designated home and away uniform. They can have alternates, of course, but the request / submission has to be entered by March for the season after the upcoming. That is, March of ’12 for the ’13 season. Seattle will have to settle (or rather has settled) on their one home and one away uni.

  18. Exactly Duke. That is why there are so many options. Some of the looks are pretty good and some are just plain weird. I am hopeful that they come to their senses but this,,,

    ,,,leaves me in doubt.

As to the swoosh on the sleeve, it seems most if not all of the teams have some version of a swoosh in that location so it may be contractual. However the green background makes it to prominent for my taste.
The “tulip” “whale tail” 12th man tribute aversion on the pants was recently posted on another site in blue on white pants and it was not that bad. It’s the green that has people grinding their teeth me thinks. The Nordstrums would not have chosen that shade. In truth it is an accent color that easily gets out of hand. Cedar green would be more PNW, imo.

  19. Two days later and I still think they are gay. I’m hearing it from a couple of my homiez (who have rooting interests in other teams) already, can’t wait for the season to start, then I’ll really be hearing it, awesome. God I hope we beat the niners and the cowboys this year, otherwise it’s going to be hell.

  20. By the way, loved the comment referenceing Easter when the breast cancer awarness month hits on the Rang chat, funny shit.
