I know you’ve been up all night waiting for the news, so here it is – the Seattle Seahawks lost the coin flip this morning with Kansas City and will pick No. 12 overall.

The Chiefs will pick No. 11 overall, so the Seahawks lost a little bit of trading power if they want to try and move up and get a quarterback like Baylor’s Robert Griffin III in this year’s draft.

You can check out the coin they used in the coin flip in the picture above, courtesy of the Kansas City Chiefs twitter field. They actually had a coin minted especially for the coin flip, with the Chiefs mascot on one side and the Seahawks mascot on the other, so neither team had to call heads or tails.

From what I understand, the winner gets to keep the coin.

Miami won the coin toss with Carolina and will selected No. 8 overall, with the Panthers getting the No. 9 pick.

Now go back to sleep – that’s what I’m doing.

    Come on how bout 2/3?

  2. Think of the positives, we pick 11th in the 2nd round, they pick 12th:)

  3. RDPoulsbo says:

At least KC and Seattle’s needs don’t overlap, so there won’t be any stealing of targeted players between the teams.

  4. GeorgiaHawk says:

So do we go back to #12 in the 3rd and #11 in the 4th?

  5. Dukeshire says:

Of course Seattle lost the coin toss. A specially minted coin, too boot? It was probably loaded like a set of low-rent Vegas dice.

  6. SeahawkFan12 says:

No biggee. Like BobbyK said, we’ll get #11 in the 2nd. That might end up being a bigger story than us drafting 12th overall. JS isn’t trading up and giving up picks, he kind of already tipped his hat to that. Should be an interesting next several weeks, though!

  7. Soggybuc says:

Hey, 12 is the lucky number for the Seahawks, is it not the number that flies over the field on game day?
the 12th pick for the 12th man, I like it.

  8. SandpointHawk says:

Lord, I missed this whole post….

  9. Dukeshire says:

Soggy – 12… That is oddly appropriate. Now I know it was rigged. Lol

  10. Tarcat88 says:

So we’ll get the 12th man picked in this years draft? I like it!

  11. BobbyAyala says:

They didn’t even need to flip the thing, we all knew we were getting the short end of the stick…

  12. CDN_C_Hawk says:

Stars are aligning just fine…2012, 12th Man gets the 12th pick.
My 2012 sleeper, is Akiem Hicks DT (6-7 Rd )
