Pete Carroll would not yet rule out left tackle Russell Okung pending results of tests this afternoon, but said “he does have extensive damage to his pec.” He said the actions by Eagle end Trent Cole on the play were blatant and it was “unfortunate because (Okung) was damaged by it.” No penalty was called, but Carroll said he expected the league to take action after the films are viewed.
Paul McQuistan would be the next man to step in at left tackle, with Lemuel Jeanpierre likely to step in at right guard, although Carroll did not want to speculate yet.
Carroll was still delighted by the win over Philadelphia as it featured a strong running attack, effective quarterbacking by Tarvaris Jackson and a turnover-creating defense. “This is what we’ve talked about since the day I got here.”
The continued fine production by back Marshawn Lynch has led to speculation about his contract status, as his deal for 2012 has been voided by playing time clauses. “He’s a very important player,” Carroll said. He expanded, saying they have the nucleus of the team they want to “grow with.” Lynch, Red Bryant and “a couple other guys” are keys to the future of the franchise, he said. Recognizing that, there are “on-going talks.”
Carroll cited Jackson’s effectiveness, completing 13 of 16 with a career-high rating of 137.0.
Other than Okung, the Hawks are reasonably healthy, he said. He’s giving the team a nice break, as they don’t have to practice until Tuesday. They will then have Wednesday off, and then prepare for the game Monday at home against St. Louis.
Can I take it they are also negotiating with Big Red, too?

Things don’t look(sound) good for Okung. Damn shame. He’s been a spark for this OL. Every play he’s right there pushing guys off Lynch and backing all of his boys up.
The NFL better come down hard on Trent Cole. Not okay to take out another player, (most likely)forcing him to IR and possible surgery.

I’ll gladly read between the lines with regard to Red and Lynch being re-upped before the end of the season. I like it.

Our entire O.L. is decimated with injuries. I just hope these injuries doesn’t put them to far behind the 8 ball next season. If the Hawks are going to be good next year we need the O.L. to gel early in the season, not on week 8.

I am getting the feeling that Tom Cable was the Seahawks number 1 draft pick and he was picked right after Cam Newton.

Pabuwal, I’d agree that maybe nothing else has been as great an improvement on this team than Cable has. Nearly a complete turnover of O line starters, backups, and scheme, and its working.
Losing Okung, I’m wondering if Cable will consider moving Gallery to LT. I know he wasn’t a great tackle when he was younger, but with his experience and size, I would think he’s the team’s best option at LT now.

Lets cross our fingers UCLA or some college team doesn’t lure Cable away from the Seahawks.

Totally agree with both points. Bulls–t play by Cole, as someone else said, it was not a football play, and the cost is high.
Okung is w/out a doubt our toughest O-lineman, and the most willing to get in and scrap and back his teammates up. Check out his late clearing out of players on Lynch’s 1st TD run last night, kind of sprung him free of the pile.

Hawks need to pay for Cable. His contribution is obvious.. Paul Allen needs to reach deep in his pocket..

I think if an NFL player deliberately takes a cheap shot at a guy and injures them that that player should be suspended for the duration of the player he hurts injury. If you hurt someone on a cheap hit for the remainder of the season, your season is also over. If you hurt someone and they miss 4 weeks, then you miss 4 weeks. Period.
No way Cole deserves to play next week if he’s the reason Okung can’t play.

Paul Allen is spending $11 million on the head coaching position this year alone.

From this day forth I hate the Eagles with everything in me!Classless act by Trent Cole.It was bound to happen because they were being dirty and fighting after the game was out of reach.People say Pete needs to have his team in check well what about Andy Reid. Can’t even take an ass whoopin and realize they just got beat.Smh…by the way Trevor Laws is a great example of being an ass saying they should win easy.Feels good to whoop those flunkys.

Danny O’Neil tweets that KJ Wright is fined $15,000 for hitting Rex Grossman in the neck, $7,500 for Breno’s late hit, and $7,500 for golden’s TD celebration.

I really doubt Cole gets any kind of suspension for this.

Its official, Okung out for the season.
× Flag comment
I know he won’t (but should).
I assume Okung will be 100% for training camp?

The guys who thought the Seahawks had a bad OL when Hasselbeck played should have a field day with this one.

WHY? WHY? WHY? does this keep happening? It is so frustrating.

Is it true that Okung had to be restrained from going after Cole after the game?

Golden Tate fined for $57,500 for falling backwards in the endzone? Are you freaking kidding me?
Can someone please explain to me the difference between what GT did versus ANY EXCESSIVE SACK CELEBRATION? Seriously? And last time I checked, sacks don’t put points on the board. If EVER there was a time to celebrate it should be after a score or turnover. Other than that, do you job, be humble and head back to the huddle. Sheesh!
Jared Allen lassoing cattle is no worse than Golden’s penalty…I just don’t get it. The NFL has become a little inconsistent when it comes to this stuff. And now you’re fining them? Absurd.
BobbyK…2 days in a row…you’re freaking me out…but I agree that Cole’s fine should include a suspension as long as Okung is injured. In fact, Suh should have been suspended longer for his deal even though the player he stomped on didn’t end up on the IR. I mean…he JUST flew to NY to meet with Goodell and then does this and denies it immediately afterword?!
Hate the Eagles…hate the NFC East…always have. I’m kinda bitter to know that we could’ve gone 4-0 against them this year. So close yet so far.
Finally, Lynch is worth top dollar. He may be a little strange for some, but I think he’s a powerhouse workhouse that has a rare passion for the game, is young extremely respected by his peers and let’s be honest, has become THE face of this franchise!
Pay the man. Period. Red too! Kam, Earl, Browner and Sherman as well.
GO HAWKS!

(sp) $7,500 oops.

It’s going to be interesting to see what happens to Cole the next time we play the Eagles. We have a pretty nasty group of guys up front.

What does the NFL do with the fines? Damn…that’s big business!

pabs – no way this line is worse than what we had in part of ’08 and ’09.
