Former Seahawks linebacker Dave Wyman of ESPN 710 Seattle discusses the cornerback position, and why players with low self confidence should not sign up for the job.

Seahawks rookie corner Richard Sherman will get his first career start this week, and faces the daunting challenge of matching up with talented Cincinnati receiver A.J. Green.

Wyman: “You’re all alone out there. Those guys like me that played in “the box” (tackle-to-tackle) have no idea how lonely it is out on that island and that’s why cornerback is such a difficult position to play – especially when you’re a rookie.

Adding more pressure to the position is the fact that you’re covering, or trying to cover, some of the finest athletes in the world. They’re usually guys that are between 6′ 2″ and 6′ 6″, run a four-point-nothing forty and can jump three-and-a-half feet in the air and have nicknames like “Mega-Tron” (Calvin Johnson-Detroit Lions).

This weekend Sherman will see Cincinnati Bengals wide-out A.J. Green who is a 6′ 4″ touchdown machine out of Georgia, and leads the Bengals in scoring.

Roy Lewis said he’s not concerned about easing into the game on Sunday and will be playing a full speed, as he always does.

Clare Farnsworth of offers this report from practice on Friday, including a breakdown of Seattle’s run defense statistically with Red Bryant in the lineup and without him.

ESPN’s Mike Sando likes the Seahawks 17-14 over the Bengals.

Matt Williamson of Scouts In.c offers this scouting report of the Seattle-Cincinnati contest.

Clark Judge of CBS Sports picks Seattle over Cincinnati for his upset pick of the week.

Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer breaks down the game here and likes the Seahawks 19-16.

Jerry McDonald of the San Jose Mercury News writes that linebacker Aaron Curry is rediscovering himself in Oakland.

Pat Kirwan of CBS Sports takes the Seahawks 17-14 in the video preview of the game below.

  1. I think Seattle could win this one 17-14.

  2. “Jerry McDonald of the San Jose Mercury News writes that linebacker Aaron Curry is rediscovering himself in Oakland.”

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! I hadn’t read anything so funny on this site in awhile.

Next they’ll be telling us that “Curry no longer has to think, just react.” “The new defensive scheme is simplified for him.” “He can just go out and use his athleticism and instincts.”

Where have we heard this before?

Going to the game tomorrow.. Anyone know who is raising the flag?

Gonna be sporting my new Baldwin 15 Jersey!

  4. Palerydr says:

The column on Curry actually pissed me off. He couldn’t do any film study here??? He had to think too much??? You’re a pro football player what did you think you were supposed to do??? What a joke I really used to pull for him to do well. No more I hope he is as colossal a flop in Oakland as he was here.

Reading the stats for Red Bryant the thing that sticks out most to me is the number of attempts by the other teams. They are avg 33.3 per game against us. We have got to get TOP to at least even cuz our defense is gonna get worn down to a nub by the end of the season.

  5. Dukeshire says:

I’m excite for Lewis. Glad he’s back and I expect him to bring the wood. This will be a good test for this very young secondary.

  6. AaronCurryIsBUST says:

HAHAHAHAHA Aaron Curry what a baboon. That dumb turdmuffin is still excitedly talking about how he’s afraid of thinking. Probably the most unintelligent player in the entire NFL.

  7. really? a baboon? you couldn’t find any other word to describe him?

  8. SeaThemHawks says:

I believe he also added turdmuffin.

  9. Dukeshire says:

Why is anyone still talking about (let alone criticizing) Curry? Jesus, that horse isn’t just dead but has decomposed and is in the early stages of being fossilized. IMO, he’s not worth the effort it takes to type the the comments.

  10. Palerydr says:

For Duke from Forrest Gump “That’s all I got to say about that”
