The Seattle Seahawks announced this morning they have placed defensive end Dexter Davis on the season-ending injured reserve list because of a hip issue.
Head coach Pete Carroll had mentioned during Friday’s talk with reporters after practice that the team had a decision to make with Davis, who had struggled throughout training camp with the injury and never seemed to get right.
The Seahawks re-signed cornerback Kennard Cox to replace Davis on the 53-man roster. Cox was one of Seattle’s better special teams players last year, and with the team’s struggles on the field and with injuries to guys like Michael Robinson and Byron Maxwell, expect Cox to be active on Sunday.
our Defense will make a game of it. The Offense, well coud just phone it in,but being fair they`ll do the best they can….Special teams,man-up stay in your lanes, damn just play better.. Bad enough we have a major dysfunction(Offense) so in a three part machine we have possibly at least one, maybe two dysfunctions…..only the Defense id NFL-ready Could be a long day…Some how I`m still a Fan of the Seahawks, have been since their inception.

I was shocked when they released Cox to begin with ; he was a Special Teams captain last year on the one unit that played well !
Looking at the roster before the cut-down to 53 , you wouldn’t have figured they’d release Kennard Cox and keep Jean-Pierre something-er-other at center .
Welcome back Kennard !

Carlsonkid, Can Kennard play center? There is your reason the Jean-Pierre made the final 53 over Cox.

Bummer about DD. Wish he’d had a little better luck this season. Good NFL Playbook on SEA@PIT’s OLs: http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-network-playbook/09000d5d82243573/Playbook-Seahawks-vs-Steelers

Totally forgot Dexter Davis even existed.

Davis was a gunner on teams, same as Cox will be. Easy to forget these guys exist until you watch Ted Ginn explode for 12 points in 59 seconds.
We should expect special teams to once again become a strength of this team this year, shouldn’t we? Shouldn’t we?

I was really hoping that Davis would have an impact this year. Oh well, get healthy for when it really counts (2012), right?

I too am very happy they get Cox back. As for Davis, played well on special teams but honestly, he may have been the most “hurt” by the switch to an over front in their base packages. He figured to be someone who would challenge Clem at Leo but that position is now virtually non-existent (through the preseason and 1 regular game).
