RE: keeping 6 WRs.

Don't be surprised if initially they keep 6 WRs after cut down day on Saturday, and then work a trade with Tate to a team that needs help at that position. Ultimately, I think they'll play the season with 5 WRs and use that extra spot for help on defense or O-line.

There's always more roster shuffling after cut down day after teams have had the chance to see who is available from other teams.

Carpenter looks slow right now, but most rookie OTs get beat by speed rushers. Every rookie needs a year to learn to play at NFL speed.

I do like that idea of Carpenter moving to LG and Gallery to RT. i doubt Cable would mess around with his rookies like that in 2011. But it may be an interesting possibility for 2012 if Carpenter doesn't develop.

I don't understand how someone could complain about Aaron Curry (an overpaid average football player who could start for most teams), and then defend Golden Tate? (an overpaid football player who has never made a play in the NFL and would be cut by most teams).

We will have to see what Tate, Baldwin, and Durham do in this final week, but if the Seahawks keep 5 WRs, I think it will be Tate and Durham on the bubble. The only thing saving Tate is that Durham is practice squad-eligible.

My guess:
Rice
BMW
Obo
Baldwin
Tate
PS: Durham
PUP: Butler

Durham could probably pass waivers and make it to practice squad, and if Tate continues the same crap we've seen, then Durham could take his roster spot by mid-season.

Carpenter = not a bust, but reason for worry based on early results.

Carpenter and Hutch comparisons can begin/end with the fact that both were 1st round picks of the Seahawks.

If Carpenter is struggling like this in December, he should potentially be tried at LG after Gallery has his yearly out-for-the-season injury since he turned 29.

Still, we can back in from the ledge a little bit. I remember when Marino missed the season before with an achilles injury and there was great worry from the organization that he looked like crap in the entire preseason and then, boom, he had way over 300 yards passing in the opener and outdueled Bledsoe and was his usual, great self. It's way too early to get too bent out of shape.

Tate must be on the bubble given all those opportunities with such little production. Read that he spent the off season finishing his degree but couldn't find anything on him polishing his WR skills. Athletic ability alone isn't going to carry him at this level.
