Newly signed free agent safety Atari Bigby, most recently with Green Bay, was on the field and in pads. He moved around well enough there was no outward hint of any of the health issues that have cost him time in recent seasons. He takes over Jordan Babineaux’s No. 27.
Further good news on the Russell Okung front: He’s still not padded up, but as he watches the O-Line, he jogs along with them between drills. They’ll surely be cautious with his ankle, but it appears he’s making nice progress. Tyler Polumbus continues to man Okung’s left tackle position.
This is the last day of training camp that is open to fans, and it was one of the biggest crowds. Even though they have had only one walk-through practice in the last two days, a number of players remained out. Okung, Carlson, Wilkerson, Thurmond, Stanback, Jennings, Sims, Clemons and Thenarse were out, as well as the others who have been put on the PUP list.
Returning, though, were Baldwin, Durham, Reed, Konz and Maxwell.
An impressive play early in practice was a pass by Tarvaris Jackson to Durham up the left sideline. Jackson threw it 50 yards at a low trajectory to catch Durham in stride.
Thanks, Dave!

Lets hope TJ and these WR can have that good of communication in a game time setting. It will be all on the pass pro. Something that we have not seen for many seasons.

I hope TJack gets a chance send another 50 yarder to one of the starting WRs soon in a preseason game. Its the only way he’ll stop the inevitable comments about what a bust he supposedly is.

I liked Jordan Babs, but I’m also glad to see his #27 given to someone new. It shows that Coach is committed to moving forward with a new young team… no looking back.

Dave, any word on what is keeping Carlson out these past few days?
More positive news about Big Russ. Very good.

Stevos – I’d say the first 5 years of his career have more to do with people calling him a bust than a few weeks in Seattle.

Does anybody know the # of players on this team with dreadlocks? Just curious because it seems like there is a very high #. I remember 3-4 years ago I was saying that I wish Seattle would get some of these dreadlocks players because they were always excelling against us.

Duke … funny, they were kinda quiet on the Carlson thing, but as Eric reports in the next post, it’s a shoulder issue. Doesn’t look like it’s a major thing.
Yes, I think they set a dreadlock record for the franchise, I believe, and Bigby seems to have the longest. I remember Bigby and the two corners on the Packers all having them and having a very difficult time telling which was which during the games because their hair covered their names and part of their jersey numbers at times.
