The Hawks didn’t seem to have the energy they had at yesterday’s practice. Again, a lot of guys were not in action: Maxwell, Sims, Alford, Cole, Allen, Lewis, Durham, THurmond, Reed, Konz, Carlson, Baldwin.
DT Ladi Ajiboye was not here and presumably released (pending official word). They added a running back No 47 named Taua. I presume that’s former Nevada running back Vai Taua, who was cut by the Bills recently. Ajiboye was quickly resigned before the San Diego game to help with defensive line depth.
In one-on-one passing, Tate and Lockette both had impressive catches. Against coverage by Jesse Hoffman, Tate reached back, speared one and pulled it for a touchdown, while Lockette beat Marcus Brown and pulled in a tipped ball for a score.
Marcus Trufant continued his strong camp on Sunday, with the highlight being a pass deflection at the goal line against 6-4 Sidney Rice. I wonder if practicing against Rice every day is a positive challenge for Trufant. If so, he’s surely responding.
All three quarterbacks looked good, but Charlie Whitehurst had another very strong practice when he passed with improved confidence. He gunned one into a small window to Pat Williams, and also was accurate on a couple short passes to the backs that he had missed on occasionally earlier in camp.
Earl Thomas made another big play, intercepting Tarvaris Jackson on a pass intended for Lockette.
