According to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean, former Seattle Seahawks safety Jordan Babineaux has agreed to a one-year deal to join the Tennessee Titans.

Babineaux, 28, joins former Seahawks secondary coach Jerry Gray, now the defensive coordinator for the Titans. Former Seattle offensive line coach Art Valero also is with Tennessee, working as an assistant offensive line coach.

With Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor slotted to start in the defensive backfield at the safety spots for Seattle, the Seahawks decided to go young at the position, and Babineaux was looking for a chance to earn a starting spot.

Good spot for him. Familiarity with scheme and players and as Eric says, an opportunity to start.

  2. seatowntp says:

Good Luck, Big Play! My favorite “Big Play” big play, verses the c-girls in the “slippery ball” fiasco! What a stop!

  3. Best of luck to Babs, always liked that guy, hope he does well. Speaking of defensive backs, 9ers putting Mays on the trading block, I find that hilarious for some reason.

Isn’t there another Seahawk connection you’re missing?

  5. Like alotta the Titans FO?

  6. Ratification .. parctice begins for FA’s

  7. Rotoworld suggest Seattle as a landing spot for Taylor Mays because of the Carroll connection. Guess they missed out on the falling out after the ’10 draft when Mays slipped to the 2nd round and called Carroll out.

  8. Thanks “BIG PLAY”

  9. Seahawkgo says:

Best of luck to you Big Babs. I always remember the sack to gave Romo to save big game against Cowgirls.

  10. SandpointHawk says:

    By Babs, it’s been real…
As for Taylor Mays, stiff hips but always thought he might be a decent Will, it would be a project for Norton but you know Pete and his projects…

  11. Oh! SF wants to trade Mays. . . would they take Balmer back straight up?

This may have also been posted before(?) the current cap room for all teams

    Good luck in TEN Babs!

  12. Dukeshire says:

Call me crazy if you want, but I’ll keep Kam and Legree over Mays any day. Crazy good athlete and all, but I wasn’t all that impressed with how he payed at USC.

  13. Soggybuc says:

Maybe thats his problem Duke. he got payed more at USC than with the 9’ers

  14. thanks for the cap info, KLM.

All the Seahawks moves and they are still $16M under the cap. Nice.

The most hilarious stat is the Raiders. $15M over the cap already, and for what?! Cable, Gallery, and Miller must be sooo glad to be out of Oakland.

  15. Ewalters7354 says:

Taylor Mays is just a combine star.I always thought he was overrated.Unless we trade a 7th round pick they can keep that bum.

  16. Ewalters7354 says:

Why don’t they trade us Alex Smith?I love his upside and potential.Plus he is better than what we have on the roster.I’m just saying.

  17. NisquallyHawk says:

Thanks Babs, you will always be Hawk regardless what jersey you were!

Mays, I just read the article from last year again when you blast PC….would you like some salt with that Crow?

Dude, your team sent a mass email out on you are on the block…Damn! talk about getting Pimped Out!

  18. Dukeshire says:

After 6 middling seasons, I’m not sure how much potential we can say Smith has. I think we have a pretty good sense of who he is.

  19. it’s interesting, the packers just won a super bowl and are 11.1 mill under the cap. wonder why they didn’t try and keep cullen jenkins…

  20. Ewalters7354 says:

Duke, you are definitely right. He just shows flashes of bring a stud. His biggest problem is consistency.Looking at how he torched us last year he showed he can be ok.

  21. monmornQB says:

Hope to see Big Play Babs ruin the day for some AFC QBs

  22. bigsmooth says:

Clayton just reported Babs might be coming back to Seattle.

  23. Babs will forever be remembered for the Romo tackle. His reaction was amazing. He also made a big INT to ice the playoff game against the Redskins.

  24. Welcome back, Babs. Missed ya!

  25. Can we get Hass back from the Titans too?

  26. Dukeshire says:

That would be quite the turn. If he’d back out of an opportunity for more playing time to stay where he’s at most a situational player, that tells me he really likes the teams direction. At leas that’s how I read it.

  27. Babs spent an hour listening to that Nashville country music and came running back to Seattle.

Seahawks took a good look at their safeties: ET, Kam, Legree, and NOBODY, and realized they need some experience on the bench.

  28. Soggybuc says:

That or tenn let him know his role would be the same there. so… Thomas Chancellor, Legree and Babs should be the safeties on the 53.

  29. seatowntp says:

Sounds as though the Seahawks probably suggested to Big Play, we really want you back. Go see what you can get from another team and we will see what we can do. And they did.

  30. Everyone remembers Babs for the Romo tackle. I remember him for missing an INT the following week that went through his hands to Berrian on the opening drive. Da Bears went on to score.
Babs continues to flounder missing big plays regular.

  31. Dukeshire says:

    Oh for heaven’s sake…

excile – How about his dropped int at the goal line vs the Bears in last year’s playoff game… Boo.

  32. Jordan Averageaux

  33. I was working

Babs should have been a Hawk receiver.. lol

How bout when he took over for Boulware and against the Rams let Torry Holt come up with that extreme bomb circus catch for a score.

  34. Kingpear says:

Congrats on getting a deal in Tenn. Best of luck! Hope he does well by them!

  35. bird_spit says:

    too funny!

  36. Dukeshire says:

Braylon Edwards signs with the 9ers. That’s a good signing for them.

BTW, have the Jets done anything to help Sanchez? Despite the rhetoric, defense doesn’t win championships. It can only help your offense win championships. The worse the offense, the better the defense has to play and not even the Jets D can make up for how pedestrian their offense is becoming.

  37. DisplacedSeahawkFan says:

On a side note, as far as our schedule goes, does it irk anyone else that we play Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh again? It bothers the hell out me, mainly because I live in Ohio and surprisingly there are as many Steelers fans here as there are Browns and Bengals fans. I did a little research and it turns out that since 1998 we’ve played the Steelers five times: we played in ’98, ’99, ’03, ’05, and 07. In that time span only once, in 2003, have the Steelers played in Seattle. Granted in 05 we faced each other in the Superbowl but we were the away team, even though we had the better record.

Since all of that is true, why in the hell do we have to play the Steelers in Pittsburgh, again, this season? As far as home and away games how is the schedule made, because I swear there is a bias if not a flat out conspiracy.

  38. Good luck, Babs!
